5.0 out of 5 stars why pay more?
I've been using this seat for 2 months now for my 17 month old. I find it very user freindly. I especially like the recline feature. It fits very well and was easy to install in my Mazda 5, but might be large for a small car. I have used the more expensive Britax Marathon in my sister's car, and I actually like the Graco better. For half the price of the Marathon,...

1.0 out of 5 stars not worth it
Very big and bulky. Only plus is the convenience of the back latch system - it loosens and tightens very nicely. made out of styrofoam, and my 20 lb. 2 year old broke it after we'd only had it a year.

We love this car seat. The recline really reclines and can be done from the front seat with one hand. We use this feature alot!! My youngest is turning One this week and I'm ordering the same seat for her. The cup holder pops on and off easy for cleaning or switching sides. The cloth is removable and washes well. My only complaint is the sides coming out so far making it a bit hard for them to see directly to the side but it's a safety feature so I can't complain too much. :-) The belts are thick and don't get twisted. It's easy to install..it has the latch system but if using seat belts recline the seat forward and pass the belt through.

2.0 out of 5 stars Inappropriate for children 20 - 40 lbs, September 10, 2009
By hildegard puffenstuff (philadelphia, pa) - See all my reviews

This is a forward facing only seat, 20 - 40lbs. While the bare minimum stated by law is 1 year and 20 lbs to turn a child forward facing, a rear facing child is 5 times safer in most collisions than a forward facing one. The cervical vertebrae have not fused prior to age 3, and cannot protect the spinal column- the whiplash motion in an accident that leaves adults with a sore neck can internally decapitate a toddler, killing or permanently disabling them.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends leaving children rear facing to the limits of their convertible car seat- generally 30, 35, or even 40 lbs, and at least 2 years of age. Sweden rear faces all children till age 4 and their highway fatalities per capita are far lower than ours.

Please do not choose a forward facing only seat for a child under at least 30 lbs, and certainly not a 1 year old.

I did give this seat 2 stars rather than 1, as it is comfortable and may be appropriate for a small segment of 2 - 4 year old between 30 and 40 lbs.
