Mount on OUTSIDE of helmet. Better than Blackburn mirror...
A rear view mirror is a MUST for anyone riding with traffic.
HELMET mirrors are NOT for everyone as they do require some getting used to. It took me at least 2-3 rides before I got used to it. I've been using one since 2003 and do not feel safe without one.
Helmet mirrors do a better job as you can still have a blind spot with the bicycle...

Who has that kind of room in their helmet?
Note that the entire portion of this object away from the mirror end is designed to be mounted INSIDE the helmet. One side of the "Dual-Lock" pad (come on, it's industrial velcro) sticks inside the rim of your helmet, and then the other side, with the mirror mount, attaches to that. That's a huge thing pressing against your noggin while you ride! I ground down the back...

Mount on OUTSIDE of helmet. Better than Blackburn mirror..., August 22, 2009

A rear view mirror is a MUST for anyone riding with traffic.
HELMET mirrors are NOT for everyone as they do require some getting used to. It took me at least 2-3 rides before I got used to it. I've been using one since 2003 and do not feel safe without one.
Helmet mirrors do a better job as you can still have a blind spot with the bicycle mounted mirrors - I have my helmet mirror set so I can see my shoulder and the side of my head. This gives me a clear view of traffic behind and to my right. By turning my head 30 degrees to my right, I completely "sweep" to all lanes on my left side.
I've tried this and the Blackburn helmet mirror. This one is definitely better.
MINUS
- Does not remove (the Blackburn pops off the base so you can remove it offroading, for example. Don't lose it!)
PLUS
- Shorter arm is stiffer than Blackburn (it's an I-Beam section)
- Adjustment range is better than Blackburn
- Lighter mirror vibrates less than Blackburn
Note: The helmets I have used them on are the Giro Atmos, Giro Animas, Bell Forza II and Bell Phi II

Who has that kind of room in their helmet?, October 20, 2007
Note that the entire portion of this object away from the mirror end is designed to be mounted INSIDE the helmet. One side of the "Dual-Lock" pad (come on, it's industrial velcro) sticks inside the rim of your helmet, and then the other side, with the mirror mount, attaches to that. That's a huge thing pressing against your noggin while you ride! I ground down the back of the mount somewhat and epoxied it to the outside: now it's a very useful and serviceable object. Wouldn't want to be without it. (Although, an oval would give you more view.)

Gets better the longer you use it., July 8, 2007
A helpful biker's safety accessory. The instructions for mounting the mirror on the helmet are not clear and the drawing is misleading. Spent too much time uncertain whether I was mounting it correctly. The field of vision is smaller than I would like; an oval shape would probably be better. In fairness, the longer I used it the better I liked it and playing with adjusting the field of vision has now gotten it to the point that I think it was a worthwhile purchase.

After seven years of use, buying a second one, November 4, 2009
This review is from: Third Eye Foam Helmet Mount Bicycle Mirror (Sports)
I've had this model of mirror for the last seven years until I broke it (my fault.) Once used to using it can't think of not having it. One hint, at least for a road bike, position the mirror so you can see your ear. That will be about the right position when on your bike. I've had no problems with the glue backed Velcro type attachment to my helmet. The Velcro is really strong so be careful if removing from your helmet. I always keep it on my helmet.

Works great, but don't use the velcro..., January 7, 2010
This review is from: Third Eye Foam Helmet Mount Bicycle Mirror (Sports)
Consistent with other reviews, I found that the Velcro attachment method resulted in direct contact pressure of the mounting bracket with my head. Not good. Furthermore, the Velcro is so stiff that it is nearly impossible to separate without ripping the pad off the helmet. This makes the Velcro attachment method pretty much useless.
Taking a cue from the other reviewers, I removed the Velcro pad from the mounting bracket, cleaned it and the helmet well, then proceeded to use hot glue to mount the mirror. This, my friends, works great and is quite secure.
It took me a few rides to get used to the mirror; I used to use a bar-end mirror on my road bike. But once I got used to it, it works quite well. This mirror allows me to keep my eyes on the road. It also allows me to view behind me even when I'm standing on the pedals, hammering up hills.

The best helmet mirror, August 4, 2010
This review is from: Third Eye Foam Helmet Mount Bicycle Mirror (Sports)
I have tried all the other types of stick on mirrors for my helmet and this is the ONLY one that works! It has never fallen off, unlike every other mirror I've tried. If anything, it requires some effort to remove it from the helmet should you choose to do so.

The mirrow works fine but it could be a bit larger for a better view.

Don't Bother, July 15, 2010
This review is from: Third Eye Foam Helmet Mount Bicycle Mirror (Sports)
Just don't bother. It does not give a wide view and requires more trouble than it's worth. Get a handlebar mirror if you need one, but this one is terrible.

Didn't work out, March 3, 2010
This review is from: Third Eye Foam Helmet Mount Bicycle Mirror (Sports)
Well, I thought it was going to work, but then I put it on with my winter riding hat under the helmet. I could not get it adjusted into my field of view. The arm just didn't move down enough. When I thought I would try it for my summer helmet, the Velcro came off the helmet instead of the Velcro strips coming apart, so the mount didn't seem very durable. The arm seems like a cheap plastic, so I questioned the durability anyway.
I think I'll be returning this.
