I bought this a few days ago at a local store and mine didnt work properly. when you'd touch japan it would say china, and when you'd touch china id say russia. it was the weirdest thing. so i tried a different mode on the toy to see if that worked. it would still say france when you touched the uk and so on. i think my son wouldve really loved this, but im not going to give him something if its not giving him correct info. if you get this test it out before you buy to see if yours works. HOLD ONTO THE RECEIPT! maybe i just got a bad working one. just keep this in mind.

My kids got this for Christmas and we will be returning it for a more detailed globe. My girls are 5 and 3 and this is far too simple without enough detailed information about the countries. I think they would play with it a few times and give it up.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too Simplistic, January 2, 2009

My 5-year old received this globe as a Christmas gift. He loves geography and was very excited about it but it is so simplistic that he lost interest immediately. This globe primarily focuses on human/cultural geography. There is nothing that asks kids to locate the Pacific Ocean or the continent of Africa. The "games" described in the instructions are not games. After choosing a category, such as sports, music, or animals, you are instructed to touch a spot on the globe to get more information about that continent. Unfortunately, very little information is actually given. For instance, in the food category, when you touch South America, you are told that mangoes, papayas, and coconuts are popular in Brazil-that's it. Then you move along to the next continent. What makes it even more disappointing is that the countries aren't even marked, so your child will learn that Brazil is in South America but would have no idea where in South America it is located. I have a 2-year old that seems to enjoy the globe, but if you have older children don't waste your money on this one.

Details on the globe are terrible! What is the point in spending the money on this one and then have to turn around when the get older for more details. Would highly recommend getting one with more details!

3.0 out of 5 stars Recommend the regular globe..., August 26, 2010

The globe has limited points, mostly animals. There are no specific countries in the globe, just the places or animals in the continents. Sometimes the globe is not touch sensitive, and cannot read feather touch. I highly recommend the real globe with countries in continents.
