Great drive - runs as expected!
This is a great way to carry 64GB of storage from one place to another. While the drive is a bit larger than your average 4GB drive, it's still small enough to fit in your pocket and not notice it. The drive runs smoothly and without a problem. I've used it on Windows XP Pro and Vista Home with no problems. Data transfer is consistent with USB2.0.
DOES THE JOB... AT A HIGH PRICE
I bought this USB drive to store MP3 files to play them in my car, which has an USB port connected to the stereo. It seems that as you fill the unit's capacity close to 50%, things start working slower. Playback will remain stable even after loading the unit beyond 50% of capacity, but the system (USB drive + stereo) will become slow to boot, sometimes beyond 3 minutes. A...

The software did not come preloaded on the drive, but after a short download, I found the functionality of the software to be simple and efficient. There's some great sync features (Outlook email, favorites, My Documents, etc.) and using encryption is quick and easy.
I tried this drive on 3 different OS's (Windows ME, Ubuntu 8.04.1, and Windows XP). Windows ME / Ubuntu 8.04.1 dual boot was running on an Asus A7M266 motherboard PC with an ALi USB 2.0 expansion card. Windows XP was running on a Dell OptiPlex 745 (integrated Intel ICH8 USB 2.0 chipset). It worked fine on all setups, no issues with hardware detection. It is formatted to FAT32 from the factory (the most compatible file system, but you may want to reformat it to NTFS if you only use Windows XP/Vista). The capacity is a little less than the stated 64GB (Windows reports 59.8GB). Transcend uses the same dishonest (in my opinion) tactic the hard drive manufacturers use of calling a megabyte 1000x1000 bytes instead of what it really is (1024x1024 bytes). The cap to cover the USB interface seems flimsy / easily broken, the plastic isn't very thick. The drive does not seem especially fast (took several hours to copy 50GB worth of data to it), but I use it only for offline storage anyway. Overall I'm pleased with the high capacity and especially the compatibility (any USB compatible operating system should work, even Windows 98SE and Mac OS 9, per Transcend's web site).

I was surprised to find this on sale at Amazon for a very enticing price. Owning a slew of these in numerous sizes and from various firms, I looked forward to my biggest one yet. I was not disappointed.
It is a little bigger (and lighter) than my Cruzers, Corsairs, etc., about as long as my index finger and about 1.5 inches wide. It is very light, green/ivory plastic, thin, and does not feel nearly as rugged as my Corsair, or Sandisk titanium. But this does not cause concern.
The transfer rate is slow, but I have had ZERO problems. I really like mine. Although the top can be easily lost, and I can't take the cap off and just carry it around on my key chain (like my bulletproof Corsair), it is an excellent value for the price.
FOLLOW-UP: After several weeks, I love this little unit even more. It's faster than I thought at first, and though light, seems to be bulletproof. Not one problem, and as faithful as my dog. Wow!

Reliable and very fast. Comes with an extension USB cord, which is thoughtful because it is a bit bigger than your 4GB stick :-)
I haven't tried the "special functionalities" though.

This review is from: Transcend 32GB JetFlash V20 USB 2.0 Flash Drive TS32GJFV20 (Electronics)
For the current price of $75 (Sept 2008), this is a particularly good solution if you have need of a high-capacity thumb drive. It comes complete with a full suite of software including file password encryption. Package contains both a lanyard and a male/female USB cable.
What are my complaints? The drive is a little large, but the smooth plastic surface means if fits well in the pocket. The USB cable will resolve any problems you may have when plugging the drive into the computer. So far, I've had no issues that required the cable. The cap feels like cheap plastic and I suspect it will be lost in short order. Otherwise, I like the drive.
I like this product, but I would like it more if it were about one half of the size it is now. I would really be impressed if they could come up with design where I don't have to worry about losing the top.

Works perfectly. No bells & whistles, but if you're looking for raw storage space, it does the job. Price has risen since originally purchased; paid $99.99 & sold by Amazon.com. Still a great memory stick, even though its price is more now.

This is just what I expected from a good USB flash drive: it's affordable, reliable and on top of it it looks good. I like the white pearly design and the shape! And technically everything works fine, although I haven't tested the software suite that is downloadable on the Transcend website (no need so far).
However it's pretty big: if your USB port is too close to another port, the flash drive could block it. Another problem is that the plastic cap is too loose and will easily fall.
