5.0 out of 5 stars A Nice Compliment to My Deep Fryer & Crock Pot
I'm very satisfied with my purchase. I wanted a stylish electric skillet. I did not want one with a non-stick coating, as those tend to flake off over time. I wanted something that had enough eye-appeal to use on a buffet table or to carry to potlucks. Typically, I use this skillet for lightly fried Italian dishes like scallopini, breaded zucchini, and chicken...

3.0 out of 5 stars OK but....
The edges are not rolled over, they are sharp. The handles are very small and the controller is placed directly under one handle making it hard to see when adjusting the temperature. The one we received had the round lathe like machine marks on the bottom so it was not a smooth surface. It will work but I think it is overpriced for what you get...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Nice Compliment to My Deep Fryer & Crock Pot, December 13, 2008

I'm very satisfied with my purchase. I wanted a stylish electric skillet. I did not want one with a non-stick coating, as those tend to flake off over time. I wanted something that had enough eye-appeal to use on a buffet table or to carry to potlucks. Typically, I use this skillet for lightly fried Italian dishes like scallopini, breaded zucchini, and chicken piccata. Having a temperature dial is useful when making these dishes as you can easily keep the oil at proper temperature to crisp the food without getting it soggy. This skillet does tasks that my deep fryer and crock pot do not do well. Basically, a deep fryer is too large for scallopini, and a crock pot is too deep for certain buffet presentations. Recently, I took it to a pot luck and used it to serve Buffalo wings. The instructions indicated that the pan needs to be "seasoned" before first use to avoid sticking. I did have some complications in seasoning the pan. When I called customer service, they said the easiest way to season the pan is to cook bacon in it. Any excuse to eat bacon is usually a good one. I did manage to properly season my pan and I do not have problems with sticking. The glass lid is nice. It has a tiny hole in it to allow steam to escape.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must be the best & prettiest skillet available, May 4, 2009

I found Publix employees cooking with this skillet. They don't want anything else. I admired it for a long time, and have loved the food they've prepared in it, and now I have it for myself. I do not like cooking, but I have cooked something every day with it. And cleanup is so easy, really, just wipe it clean. I am so delighted with it and hope not to have to deal with my glass top stove again. The food is so tasty in this skillet and it is so pretty.
I've waited years to get one, and now I have the perfect one.

5.0 out of 5 stars This thing can COOK!, January 14, 2008
Ok we replaced a Rival electric skillet that did not even last a year. The first day First batch of Pancakes... PERFECT! We use this all the time. It is awesome! We love it. It is the right size for a family of 4! And even some room for when more people show up!

5.0 out of 5 stars This thing is killer, March 2, 2010

My wife has a quite subdued esthetic taste. As the picture of the unit is shot, it looked too "out there" for her taste. But we needed a new skillet as the 30+ year older Farber unit finally died.

I took a flyer and bought the it.

This thing is light years better than the old unit and my wife just loves this skillet. Me too.

Heat response is not quite as good as cooking with gas but it is very nice indeed.

I've been looking for a good stainless steel electric skillet and this one is just wonderful. I live in Southwest Louisiana and we like to brown our meat and make a good dark gravy and this one does just that.. Use it at least once a day. Easy to clean up. If you don't have one, you are missing out on some great cookin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than no-stick, May 2, 2010

I'm very pleased with this skillet after 3 uses, even though I hated paying the price.
I paid it because I thought I deserved a really nice skillet, once in my life. I'm 71.
First, I seasoned it by frying bacon in it. Then, I wiped it out with paper towels.
I've cooked in it twice since then. Very little sticking, and easy to clean.
I never liked non-stick coatings, so I gave away my cheapie, non-stick-coated skillet.

If all you've had is cheapie skillets, try this one! You'll like it...but season it first.

the item arived quickly and safely at my po box, i realy apreciate that, as a lot of supliers wil not ship to a po box!!
the skilet looks very stylish and is finished wel, i do not trust non stick coatings at all, so thank you for the stainles steel finish also! the unit cooks wel and the automatic control does its job.
clean up is quick and easy. the only negative i experienced is when steaming or boiling with water, there is considerable condensation drip off at the lids edges, so i had to put a towel on the counter to absorb the pool of water. maybe if the vent hole was larger this may help. thank you for a very useful kitchen tool. mike stanton.

1.0 out of 5 stars Defective manufacturing, April 24, 2010

I purchased my first CucinaPro skillet four months ago. The metal surface warped and I replaced it with another, hoping it was just a one shot problem. We were very careful with the second one. Never put anything cold in it, pouring cold water on hot metal, etc., but the surface buckled again. I am sending this back and not replacing it with anything CucinaPro.

2.0 out of 5 stars This Cucina Pro pan is not worth the price you pay for it, August 17, 2010

This review is from: CucinaPro 1453 Stainless Steel Round Classic Electric Skillet 12 Inch (Kitchen)
First purchased the larger electric skillet which started to smoke up the kitchen when I was seasoning it. Returned it for the smaller one (same price!!) and have found the 12 inch skillet's handles are too small for either my husband or I to use and the metal is so thin around the top edge, you can get sliced by it. When I have to replace this Cucina product, I will definately go with another brand.
