Great underwater case!!
My husband and I bought this case for our recent dive trip to Belize and it worked wonderfully! No leaks at all - even at 130 ft. The video function was awesome underwater, especially at depth where it was a little too dark for pictures. Great product!!!
A leaky housing and poor customer service
The second time I used this housing, it leaked and ruined the camera. And I was just snorkeling, so it never got deeper than a few feet. A poor attribute for a waterproof housing.
When it leaked, it ruined the camera, and that led to a poor experience with Canon's customer service.
It took Canon two weeks to send me a replacement, and that...

Used it to scuba in Australia. It went as low as 60 feet without any problems. Canon also sells weights for this housing to achieve neutral bouyancy so the camera won't float while you scuba. I didn't buy them and really don't feel that it is necessary. The camera wasn't floating like a balloon in the saltwater. It might be slightly buoyant in salt water but not that bad.
For the SD770IS with the attached WP-DC23 housing Canon says you would need one weight to achieve neutral buoyancy.

I used this unit on a dive trip to Grand Cayman. I was hesitant, to say the least, concerning jumping into the ocean with a new camera. However, it worked great. I had no issues (other than running out of memory). A pro photographer was in my group and he had an expensive custom housing/camcorder rig and was never able to get it to work. I recommend this highly for its simplicity and (relative) low-cost/small size. Note: The housing has an optional weight that can be attached to overcome its default positive buoyancy. I'm still not sure whether this is a good idea: trade a minor hassle of the housing getting in the way from time to time vs. losing it into the depths if it becomes detached. 2nd note: I would suggest practicing with the camera to get a feel for the housing's exterior controls before going into the water.

I looked around for camera cases. Thought about cheaper one, before I said why not stick with Canon. Trust me this case is specifically designed for the camera. All buttons/functions work wonderfully.
Probably like most I was hesitant to submerge my camera underwater. I tested it without my camera first with tissues, then with camera in the sink. I have taken it snorkeling twice now. I really look forward to testing it scuba diving this coming Dec. There have never been any leak issues. Be careful to follow the instructions and keep the seal lubricated.
The only bad things I can say about it which is not the cases fault, even with the brightness all the way up its still hard to see the screen. However that is snorkeling is shallow water. Scuba diving I imagine as I get deeper and darker the screen will show up more. The other bad thing about this is the price. I do think its highly overpriced, over half the price of the camera itself. Especially only used for this one camera.
Overall once the price paid for the unit is gone and forgotten about and feel more confident that it will not leak, I am 100% happy I made this purchase.

This gizmo is awesome for your snorkelling trips BUT i wish i knew about the lens fogging up BEFORE i got down to the Virgin Islands! When you lay around in the sun, of course this case is going to get warm - then you immerse into the cool blue ocean and POW!! You have fogged the inner side of lens!
So - throw in some silica gel in there, or find some form of anti-fog that won't damage the case's inner lens.

this case works awesome! i use it in huge waves and it never leaks. i put a bolt threw my boogie board into the tripod mount and got some 1st person videos with awesome results. all of the functions work well. if you use it in sandy ocean water it can get to be a bit of maintenance (lots of cleaning afterwards) but it is well worth it. i used it in my friends koi pond and got him some super cool photos. put your camera in here and go out and play!

This is a great little camera that takes great pictures and video both above and underwater, my wife and I went on a diving trip to playa del camen to dive the cenotes [fresh water caves]. Took about 300 pics and video, the only problem so far is with the flash in the pitch dark carverns, every picture I took [without] the defuser had a dark spot in the lower right hand corner, I guess its a reflection from the flash back into the housing, other than that its a great underwater camera.

I purchased this case for my Canon SD770IS just prior to going on a cruise vacation. Timing was perfect. Most camera owners were cowering below decks as we experienced a good deal of wind and salt spray. I was able to get some very nice photos that would have been damaging to my camera otherwise. Because this case is made by Canon for Canons, all controls, buttons and functions match up perfectly, and work like a charm! And since this case is good to a depth of 40 meters, it will even function as a dive camera (although I don't dive - yet). This is a great solution, and even includes a tripod socket, should you want to mount this on your kayak!
