5.0 out of 5 stars Kids and mom LOVE it!
After a ton of research, I purchased this play kitchen for my twins' 2nd birthday, and we all couldn't be happier with it! I chose the Prairie Kitchen for several reasons:

1. SO CUTE! It looks like our kitchen. It's not too girly looking, and it blends in well with our decor (as opposed to the pastel or primary colored kitchens).

3.0 out of 5 stars A super cute kitchen that falls apart constantly
We ordered this kitchen or our almost two year old for Christmas but it gets used by a 6, 3 and 2 year old. We chose this model because of how cute it was and that the company replaces broken items free of charge. In these last seven months we have had to order and replace one of the pink handles twice, the oven rack wall and a door. They have broken the sink so it no...

2. Good size. Two kids can easily play together, and the counter height is 20" from the floor. My twins are very tall, and the counter height is perfect, yet they have to stretch to reach items on the shelf.
3. Realistic features. It looks like a real kitchen with gas burners, a grill, silver faucet/sink, wainscoting, towel bar, clickable dials. Lots of kitchens have features that look vaguely like the real thing.
4. Oven has a middle rack, like a real oven (many kitchens don't have this).
5. Kidkraft makes solid products and has a variety of play kitchens on the market.

The only thing I'm unhappy with is the sink--I wish it was metal, like the faucet. It's painted plastic and is already getting scratched up. It's also removable (pops out), and the kids are constantly pulling it out, wearing it as a hat, and fighting over it! Luckily, Kidkraft provides free replacement parts.

Bottom line...this kitchen exceeded my expectations! The kids love it, I love it!

4.0 out of 5 stars It's a great toy, January 22, 2009

I am so pleasantly surprised. I cant speak to the durability of it because I just got it yesterday but I assume looking at how it was built that it is a keeper. What I can say is that the reviews that made it seem impossible to put together were not, for me at least, correct. It took me a solid couple hours but considering my youngest threw all the screws up in the air it may have taken less. When my husband got home and advised me that we own an electric screw driver I flinched but yet again it would have made it even easier, so really it was ok to build. It is adorable, well built, and she took to it right away and woke up thinking about it the next day. I did buy it for much less that this at [...] even though I paid 24 shipping it still came out worthwhile. I only didnt give it five stars because I think an item needs to be outstanding beyond expectation.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect in my daughter's room!!, September 12, 2008
I bought this for my 2 yr. old girl and she loves it. This goes so well with her room decor and it's soooo adorable! Mine came with pastel pink knobs and handles, so it's perfect. But I wouldnt recommend for for any kids older than 3. It's just perfect for her height right now.

I was looking for a birthday gift for my 5-year old daughter and thought that this play kitchen was nice, not overdone with colors and/or options. I thought it was a bit bigger, but it's not that important. It is work for two people to put it together, but it's sturdy and true to description. Overall, I am glad to have purchased it and my daughter will have a nice toy for few years.

I bought this for my 18months child, and she just loves it!!! It was pretty hard to assemble( took me and my husband 2 hours) and also some of the holes on the panel was missing, so we had to screw a few in by ourselves, since we didn't want to go through packing and sending and all.
However, our girl just loves it and it really does look much better than the picture! Since it's wood,it becomes a nice touch of furniture. The sink comes off easily, so it becomes my daughter's hat sometimes..but I love watching her have a great time with it!

This kitchen is well-designed and built. There were two minor manufacturing defects: a hinge-pin hole was drilled on the incorrect side of one part (I drilled the hole all the way through to fix it and it works perfectly but there is a hole visible where there shouldn't be one -- no big deal) and a hole was drilled in the middle of the upper back wall for no apparent reason (it appears nowhere in the assembly instructions or the picture, and nothing is provided to attach to it, but I will probably put a small hook there to hang a potholder soon-to-be-custom-made by Grandma).

Otherwise, it took just under two hours for me to assemble, and that's moving pretty smoothly through the instructions with little confusion at all. There are probably more packaging parts (styrofoam, foam wrapping, cardboard, etc.) than parts to the kitchen, and that's saying a lot. It was well packed and protected, but the mountain of trash was something to behold (two kitchen garbage bags full, crushed and packed in, plus the big box!). Based on its finished size, I question if it would be much more expensive to assemble at the factory with high-speed equipment and techniques and package one complete unit rather than individually wrapping and packing dozens of parts with foam blocks to separate them. In any case, I am happy with the finished product and can't wait to see the look on my three-year-old's face when she sees it in the morning for her birthday! It is a good product.

I like this kitchen but I was slightly disappointed that the wood is manufactured. It's not plyboard or particle board and it's sturdy but it's not real wood so that you know. Overall I love the design and how nice it looks. We had to use the hot-glue gun to glue the sink in place(the kids broke one of the plastic tabs that is supposed to hold the bowl in the hole). It did take my husband almost 2 hours to assemble.By the way the color is not white but yellowish-white.It looks good though.

They have broken the sink so it no longer snaps in place, but they love to carry it around. One of the oven knobs has never clicked when turned, but the kids don't care.

It seems like our choice to go with a company that replaces the parts free of charge has been a good one, but I must say that the particle wood that these are mostly made out of are prone to wearing quickly where screws and do dads are connected. Once the screw comes loose you have to get the whole section of wood replaced because the hole is stripped. It took quite a while to put together and so we have left the door off and haven't yet fixed the broken panel inside the oven until we have the time to take it completely apart and rebuild. It is getting annoying, but the kids still love it.

It looked just like I expected after reading reviews and looking at the 360 pics on-line. Took my husband only a little over 1 hour to build, but he uses tools everyday for work so we didn't expect it to take as long as some had reported in reviews. My 3 year old daughter likes it a lot and makes food for us quite often. It is a good size for her and seems to be made quite durable. Plan for her to use this for at least a few years. My 6-year old son likes to pretend cook and he has used it occasionally too.
