I purchased product from Tanaka after Christmas. I was impressed at first but after shutting off and restarting. The trimmer head wouldn't spin. I would have to hit it on the ground several times to get the shaft to go back into the trimmer head. Called Tanaka and they wanted me to take it apart and fix. 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent leaf blower, November 2, 2008

This review is from: Tanaka TBL-7800R 65cc 4-2/7 HP 2-Stroke Backpack Blower with Tube-Mounted Throttle (Lawn & Patio)
Over the past 15 years, this Tanaka is my 5th blower. Item arrived assembled with only the tubes and throttle body to install which was a simple operation. Unit started immediately after two pulls and has worked flawlessly (two months of daily home use). The quality of the product is a reflection of its "Made in Japan" credentials.

I have had 2 gas handheld (Sears & Stihl) and one 26cc gas back-pack (Homelite) blowers. Take it from my experiences, "if you want to save time, effort and have that professional clean-up look to your garden and other home areas, this is the blower to get." What used to take me 1 hour now takes 15 minutes. Previously, when leaves were wet, I wouldn't bother, but this commercial spec Tanaka does the clean-up efficiently and moreso, completely. Before making this purchase, I looked at other comparable models from Stihl & Echo. The origin, performance specs and pricing made me choose Tanaka. I am extremely happy with my decision.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful commercial grade blower that will get it done!, April 13, 2009

This review is from: Tanaka TBL-7800R 65cc 4-2/7 HP 2-Stroke Backpack Blower with Tube-Mounted Throttle (Lawn & Patio)
I recently purchased one of these and have been impressed. I am not a commercial landscaper, but a homeowner with many trees that can be a problem in the fall. In my research, I found that this blower is pretty much a rebadged Redmax 7100. The only difference that I can find is the air filter and housing. There aren't many reviews about the Tanaka online, but if you research the Redmax ebz7100, you will be doing pretty much an "apples to apples" comparison, although, for whatever reason, the airflow numbers on the Tanaka are a bit higher.
This thing is a flat out beast! It isn't too heavy and not at all uncomfortable , but it will absolutely move some leaves (and sticks, rocks, acorns, etc). I bought it to replace a Husqvarna 145bt, which was a bulletproof soldier for many years (and is still running well to this day). I needed something stronger to shorten my spring and fall cleanups and the Tanaka fits the bill. It's well constructed, started right up, and really blows strong. The only potential negative that I could find is noise. It's a pretty loud machine, but what strong backpack isn't? I think it sounds cool, as I'm a hotrodder. It sounds just like a dirtbike at idle! While the sound doesn't bother me in the least, if you live in a garden home and/or have sensitive neighbors, it may not be for you. But if you are looking for a stout workhorse that will really shorten your workload, don't hesitate. This is a fine piece of equipment.

My wife, Cheryl, bought this leaf blower for 'us' and it arrived yesterday. I did the research for it. This blower is extremely well built and easy to use. It started right up after assembling the tube and attaching the throttle. I had also bought the Pelto noise protectors which fit very well and do what they say they do. I have ear protectors with everything that I use that needs suppression. The loudest tool I own is a 62cc Stihl pro chainsaw with compression release. It is MUCH louder than the 65cc Tanaka TBL-7800R. But it does have more compression and needs to be small, versatile, and be able to be worked in small places. I have used this leaf blower 3 times in the last 2 days and it is not only a BEAST, it's also a CADILLAC. No vibration at idle, not much at full throttle. And MAN, can it move some leaves. Here in NH this was a banner year for them. I am pleased that it was made in Japan because I just don't trust the crap coming out of China. [If you can't make steel good enough to build bridges with, STOP making steel. Same thing with your baby formula and your toxic dry wall.] I'm 61 years old and log my own cordwood and have used many power tools out in the woods. The Tanaka will fit nicely in with the 'keepers'. You can't beat a 3 year warrantee either!!!

If you have a large yard, then this is for you. It's not the most nimble blower and you will find it difficult to get into tight corners. But the sheer power of this tool allows you to do allot of work on just idle. I can blow leaves off the roof of my house on full throttle! Because of the amount of money invested in this product, I only use synthetic two-stroke oil and 91 octane. It is surprisingly frugal on gas. Although there are other blowers out there that cost less, and offer vacuum/mulch ability, not many match its CFM output/ MPH velocity. A big plus is its Japanese construction. The fact that it's not made in Mexico or china speaks volumes for me. With a flip of the on switch and one pull, just one, and it's on. I have used this for about 5 hours of run time so I cannot say how it's is going to last for long haul but from the look and feel of this blower, It isn't giving me any reason to think I will be buying another one for a long time.

This thing is a BEAST!! Great for all sorts of jobs from blowing grass clippings off your driveway to moving some heavily compacted, wet leaves. Buy some ear protection and save yourself the hassle later.

right out of the box, easy to assemble hoses and setup. The directions were good, nice to follow. It starts right up every time and is very powerful. I like the fact that the gas cap is attached to the tank and the speed switch is comfortable. Its a little cumbersome getting it on your back until using it a couple of times. It does a great job and will blow wet leaves as well as dry.

I have bought many products on Amazon and this is the first that I insist on taking the time to give it its due justice. This is the best blower i have ever used. Hands down. It has plenty of power to clear anything i put in its path. I had a pile of 3+ year old leaves and lawn clippings that was getting too big to handle, within a few minutes i had blasted the pile from the edge of my property well into the woods. Half the time i use it i just let it idle to clear my walkway deck and patio. Cruise control is a great feature. Low Emissions. The envy of all my neighbors! It is lightweight and you can just feel the power that this machine has. This is a serious piece of equipment and i consider it a life long investment. I am not a commercial landscaper. I dont even own a full acre. I do own the best backpack leaf blower available...

This blower is fantastic. It blows my 20 x 50' driveway off in 10 seconds flat. I have a large yard with 50 trees and I can now finally take care of it by myself in a reasonalble amount of time. My previous blower was a weak corded model that took all day to do what I can do now in an hour. I was paying from $50- $95 every two weeks during the fall to clean up the yard. So as you can see it has already paid for itself. It is a better blower than the yard service guys were using. Like the other reviewer, I appreciate the fact that it is Japanese and not Chinese. It is a quality piece of equipment and has a great warranty. It blows very hard and you'll need to be careful with things not tied down. Already had a few of my wifes Christmas decorations launched into the void. Very pleased with the purchase.

I would have to hit it on the ground several times to get the shaft to go back into the trimmer head. Called Tanaka and they wanted me to take it apart and fix. By the way it is a heavy trimmer!.
