very nice blades
I've used Merkur's (sp) and find the Derby Extra's to be comparable.
On price, shipped to my door (PA), the price is lower than Personna's purchased from Wal-Mart!
(that's $.14USD delivered if I remember correctly).
I am going to place a second order for Derby's, I feel the value and quality is there and justified (Oh, forget about the Personna DE...

Great Blades
These are quality blades, individually wrapped in waxed paper. I would have gone for a 4 rating, but there's no disposal slot on the 5 pack cases, which I like on other brands.
The blades are like most others and they give a good shave - nothing special. I use a Parker 11R razor and EJ soap.
My beard is probably about a 6 or 7 on a Soft 0 - 10...

P.S. You must be careful in using your Derby's, but that goes for all DE blades.

Great value, almost the best quality... maybe the best, August 21, 2009
This review is from: 100 "Derby Extra" Stainless Steel Double Edge Razor Blades with FREE ARKO Shaving Soap (Health and Beauty)
I've tried two brands of double edge razor blades, Derbys and Merkur Double Edge Safety Razor Blades- 3 Packs of 10 Blades - 30 Blades in Total- Made in Germany. Both provide great shaves. The Merkur blades may be slightly sharper and last a bit longer (in most cases). However, they also cost about three times as much. You can't go wrong with either and my feeling is the Derby blades provide slightly better value.
I discuss this in a bit more detail on my list "Getting a great shave". The link to it is [...] (though I'm not sure if Amazon will allow that link to stay in my review).

Amazing Razors, April 5, 2009
This review is from: 100 "Derby Extra" Stainless Steel Double Edge Razor Blades with FREE ARKO Shaving Soap (Health and Beauty)
I had been looking for a double edged razor because of my sensitive skin. The other two, three, and more blade razors destroy my skin. This razor doesn't do that at all. It gives a close smooth shave with no discomfort. If you have never used a double edged razor like this before, it takes a little while to get used to, but once you do you'll fall in love with it. Also it comes with 100 blades, which each blade is good for at least 2 shaves. Refill boxes are inexpensive as well. Will be buying more of the blades when I start to run low.

Best Blades, Best Cheap Shaving Soap, July 27, 2010
This review is from: 100 "Derby Extra" Stainless Steel Double Edge Razor Blades with FREE ARKO Shaving Soap (Health and Beauty)
Great product, great vendor! I've long been sold on Derby blades, and this is the best buy for these classic blades. On top of that, the Arko freebie was great: Arko is the best friend of the wetshaver who's on a budget. So this review is a twofer: (1) One for the quality and value of this vendor's Derby double-edge (DE) blades, and (2) one for the included freebie of an Arko shave stick. Get a usable badger-hair brush for shaving, and with this great deal on Derby blades and this Arko shaving soap intro, you'll love shaving with a DE razor and a good shaving lubricant like Arko. Then you'll graduate to Tabac shaving soap.

Great blades, great price!, July 21, 2010
This review is from: 100 "Derby Extra" Stainless Steel Double Edge Razor Blades with FREE ARKO Shaving Soap (Health and Beauty)
I started out on the Shark blades which came with my razor, and that's my only comparison. I'm very happy with the Derbys. At first, I was unsure about them, but soon my face acclimated, and I haven't had a problem since. I get a good week to 10 days out of each blade, so it's dirt cheap for a closer, more comfortable shave than I've ever gotten from a sensor cartridge razor.
To each his own preferance, but I think most will be pleased with the Derbys.
I haven't used the soap, so I can't say anything about that, sorry.

Excellent blades, April 1, 2010
This review is from: 100 "Derby Extra" Stainless Steel Double Edge Razor Blades with FREE ARKO Shaving Soap (Health and Beauty)
These are my husband's favorite blades, with Shark coming in a very close second. They're extremely sharp and smooth shaving with NO irritation.
The Arko shaving soap is easy to use, works great, and smells great.
So far, these "vertical" Derbys shave the exact same as the "horizontal" Derbys.

Baby Bear's Porrige..., March 22, 2010
This review is from: 100 "Derby Extra" Stainless Steel Double Edge Razor Blades with FREE ARKO Shaving Soap (Health and Beauty)
The most concise comment that can be made about this product set is; "Baby Bear's Porridge", as in, "just right". The blades are not too sharp nor are they dull and the soap is well balanced, with regards to its lather. All in all, with price, product quality and myriad other factors, this is a "win-win" deal.

So far, I'd buy 'em again.., March 22, 2010
This review is from: 100 "Derby Extra" Stainless Steel Double Edge Razor Blades with FREE ARKO Shaving Soap (Health and Beauty)
These are razor blades, so really, how much is there to say? They're darned sharp and they do a great job. I'm coming from about a half years experience with a safety razor, having switched from a standard straight razor.. and these are just a dream. I *was* using the CVS brand blades before, and that's all I've ever known.. so my experience with any sort of premium blades are nil, but I can tell ya' these are quite fine, and for *this* price.. I need not even say more. I'll buy 'em again.. but that'll be a while, cause I'm still on my first blade after over a week of use and no end in sight just yet.

Good products and good price., February 23, 2010
This review is from: 100 "Derby Extra" Stainless Steel Double Edge Razor Blades with FREE ARKO Shaving Soap (Health and Beauty)
The blades I received was the new "vertical" Derbys. These blades are really diamonds in the rough. If you use them as is, they are very rough on your skin and can very easily cut you. The way to fix this is to "cork" the blades, that means very gently slicing them into a piece of styrofoam a couple of times on each side before loading them into the razor. Check out the Badger&Blade website for more information on vertical Derbys and corking.
When corked, the blades are very sharp, supersmooth, long lasting and simply a joy to use. Easily the best blades I have.
The Arko stick is wonderful, it makes thick and lovely lather. I have to order more of these.

Great Blades, October 28, 2009
This review is from: 100 "Derby Extra" Stainless Steel Double Edge Razor Blades with FREE ARKO Shaving Soap (Health and Beauty)
These are quality blades, individually wrapped in waxed paper. I would have gone for a 4 rating, but there's no disposal slot on the 5 pack cases, which I like on other brands.
The blades are like most others and they give a good shave - nothing special. I use a Parker 11R razor and EJ soap.
My beard is probably about a 6 or 7 on a Soft 0 - 10 Hard whisker toughness scale and about the same 6 or 7 on a Thin 0 - 10 Thick whisker density scale. I get about 3 to 4 uses from each blade.
Good enough to use the pack up, but I will switch brands again when I use these up.
The shaving soap stick that came with it was plesant smelling, but I won't replace my EJ with the Argo as the Argo seemed to dry up to quickly...
