I am very impressed with the Infrawave Oven by Black & Decker. I was watching TV and saw the commercial for the item. I thought that nothing could be this good - but all of my expectations have been met. The Oven is as good as they advertised on TV. Dealing with Amazon.com has always been a pleasure.

This oven only does slightly better than a typical rotisserie or toaster type oven. If you are broiling a steak, unless you like your meat well done, you should start with frozen meat in order to get a browned surface with a pink center. The recipe book that comes with it only has a few examples and the pre-programed selections do not accomplish a proper product without adjustments to the time. It has a setting for rising crust pizza (like DiJourno) which starts with 14 minutes. A regular oven is 22 to 25 minutes. At 14 minutes, the pizza had risen but the crust was still very soft and the cheese was not even browned at all. I added time, and ended up at over 20 minutes with a pizza that was too soft and floppy. The same with frozen french fries. I expected a web site that would give more direction in how to use the oven but all the B & D web site has is the recipe book in pdf form.

As far as the rotisserie, the oven is not really big enough to even accomodate a medium sized chicken. I did do a small pork roast which came out nicely done. But it had to be a small roast to not touch the element guards. For the price, I was rather disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars reduces cooking time, March 1, 2009

this product reduces cooking time by eliminating preheating. the foods turn out exactly as if you used your full sized oven. this oven is great for fast foods. i.e. pizza, toast, bagels, reheat leftovers. it is also ideal because it does not heat up your kitchen like a traditional oven does. i recommend this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cooking Times way off, January 31, 2010
This review is from: Black & Decker FC350 InfraWave Speed-Cooking Countertop Oven with Rotisserie (Kitchen)
I purchased the model 150 for my parents over a year ago and it works great for frozen biscuits other frozen quick foods. I recently purchased the larger FC350 to replace my counter top convection/rotisserie oven. I first cooked a 4lb beef roast that came turned out good and haven't tried the rotisserie yet. The oven works great for pizza's, croquets, pizza rolls etc. Be prepared to increase the cooking times, the preset times are way off. If the box says 22mins, it's going to take at least 22 minutes. The real savings is the whole house doesn't get hot and there is no pre-heating. I live in South Florida and don't know if the high humidity has anything to do with the big difference in cooking times. I am very happy with the ovens results, just wish the company didn't mislead every one with expected savings in actual cooking time. I'd like to see a forum with real recipes from actual users.

3.0 out of 5 stars NOT Quicker, January 9, 2010

The unit functions adequately, in that it does cook things, but it falls far short of its major selling point which is that it is suppose to cook faster. Black & Decker went so far as to equip the oven with a `smart' timer which takes the conventional cook times and automatically shorten those cook times to what they claim is the oven's faster cook rate. This has actually become an annoyance in that we enter a cook time of 1 hour, then the oven translates that to 45 min and we have to go back and add the 15 min to adequately cook the item. In time we will learn to counter this conversion in our head, but we shouldn't have to. I have yet to study if there is any electric savings.

Overall, I'm very happy with this toaster oven. I like the speed with which it cooks, the way the food comes out, & "quick foods" list. On the downside, I wish there was a way to program it for foods not in the conversion list - to input 350 degrees for 15 minutes and have it convert it to Infrawave cooking time. The rotisserie is so-so - about the only thing you can do is kabobs.

3.0 out of 5 stars It looks nice & makes good toast if you turn the bread over., April 4, 2010

The unit has a nice look & I've figured out how to make good toast with it, but whenever I've tried cooking a piece of chicken in it it fills the kitchen up with smoke. It's not the unit itself or the chicken that is smoking, I believe it's probably the fat/oil drippings vaporizing on the included baking tray. As I've only used boneless/skinless in it, I can only imagine how bad it might be with a regular piece of chicken. The fact that the door doesn't seal allows all of the smoke to escape into the kitchen as the food is cooking, however, I don't recall there ever being any smoke in my regular convection oven when cooking anything, including chicken. The toasting function doesn't work very well if you just try to toast something with a single toast cycle because it toasts much more on the top than the bottom. To combat this I've discovered that the way to go is to turn the toast value down (I use 1) & complete one cycle, then turn the bread over & do a second cycle, that way both sides of the bread get the intense heat from the top element. The bottom elements just don't do the same thing as the top & there doesn't seem to be a way to make the bottom elements run a little longer on a single cycle. I've also tried cooking frozen hamburger patties in it. It works, but it takes longer than my foreman grill & doesn't leave the meat in a very good condition. The foreman grill cooks a frozen hamburger in about 4-5 minutes well done & in excellent condition. I suppose the foreman grill might also cook a frozen piece of chicken but I've never tried it. Basically for me it is just an expensive toaster that requires input halfway through (turning it over & running a second cycle). Unfortunately anything else that it can do seems to be better done by my oven, foreman grill or microwave. Might be good for quickly reheating something that you want more crispy, but my convection microwave oven also has a browning feature, though I've never needed to use it.

I ordered this InfraWave on Saturday and had it by Thursday. While I am still trying to figure out all of its uses -and what I've tried, I really like - this is more of a thank you to Today's Concept for their exceptional shipping speed and customer service. I had ordered this regular shipping and was excited to have it so quickly.

I like the idea that I don't have to pre-heat my oven since I generally only make quick meals for 1. I would definitely recommend this product.

This is the best little oven to own. I work late and can come home and throw together a meal and cook it in half the time it takes in my regular oven, giving me time to do other things around the house. Just love it

The B&D Infra Wave FC350 is very good.
Their info on cooking is ok, just watch the first things you cook.
That will give you a better idea for time and temp per B&D info.
Most products the time and temp are the same as oven. The best
benefits are no pre-heat, cooks great, good Rotisserie, cleans easy, great toaster,
great re-heating.
