5.0 out of 5 stars Great Design
Being an Engineer, with a wife who was "satisfied with my old Sears refrigerator - with an ice maker in the door" this was an unusually successful purchase. We wanted a newer, Star rated refrigerator that fit in a slightly smaller available space than the 25 cu. ft. models - yet maximize the volume. This one "just fit". We discussed long about the absence of the ice...

1.0 out of 5 stars VERY DISAPPOINTING
If you buy this refrigerator we highly recommend an extended warranty and you might want to consider purchasing a freezer to salvage your frozen foods during breakdowns.
Our first breakdown was 41 days after purchase.
The second breakdown was (to the day) one year from delivery. Warranty would not cover it because it was 1 year and 4 days from purchase date...

Our first breakdown was 41 days after purchase.
The second breakdown was (to the day) one year from delivery. Warranty would not cover it because it was 1 year and 4 days from purchase date. Not delivery date but purchase date.
Third breakdown was one year and 54 days from delivery.
Guess what--we don't give this refrigerator a single recommendation. And by the way, we tried to talk to LG about the number of service calls and their only comment was "have a nice day"

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Design, March 29, 2010
This review is from: LG 22.6-Cubic-Foot Stainless Steel French Door Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
We discussed long about the absence of the ice dispenser in the door, yet we wanted an ice-maker for sure. The freezer in the drawer made sense. Cold spills down when you open the door, and here there's a bottom. Minimum spilling of the cold. The similar model with the ice maker in the door didn't make sense. Trying to create ice in an area that isn't frozen? The ice-maker in the door takes up space, is difficult to cool and just a bad idea.

So my wife tried using the old two door as a no ice dispensing one. Boy did that work. No waiting for the grinding of the ice or occasional clogging. The ice maker in the drawer is great. It will fill the tray in no time at all, so we just shut it off for about a week and when the ice gets low turn it on for a day or two. Marvelous.

We looked around and the Sears/Whirlpool maker just seemed cheaply designed. This one was deluxe. We ended buying locally due to a negotiated price. We've had it about 2 months, and I'm proud to say my wife keeps reiterating, "I just love my new refrigerator". We did buy - against all recommendations - an extended warranty because we were unacquainted with this brand experience. It's great.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing, September 1, 2010
This review is from: LG 22.6-Cubic-Foot Stainless Steel French Door Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
Got this fridge 2 years 2 months ago. Looks like I am not the only person with a broken crisper drawer - broken roller. My wire basket has also rusted at ALL the joins. LG did send me a wire basket replacement after I had a long conversation with them. But they will not replace my broken crisper drawer. They referred me to a distributor to buy the replacement part for $48! My GE frig lasted 15 years with not such problems....
