5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy big, but everything we wanted
As much as I liked a similar GE Profle model with LED lights, I couldn't justify spending $800 to buy LED lights (the primary if not the only distinction between this model and the GE). I specifically wanted this model because it does not have the door ice/water dispenser, which seems to be especially prone to freezing and other issues across all brands of French...

1.0 out of 5 stars looks pretty but does not work
We should have known it was not a good purchase when the first unit was delivered with a broken ice maker. That unit was replaced and we have had nothing but trouble ever since. When we called LG the first time, there was no one in our area to service the unit, so we had to wait until they found someone that could/would service it. Then we waited for them to show up and...

As much as I liked a similar GE Profle model with LED lights, I couldn't justify spending $800 to buy LED lights (the primary if not the only distinction between this model and the GE). I specifically wanted this model because it does not have the door ice/water dispenser, which seems to be especially prone to freezing and other issues across all brands of French Door/Bottom Freezer fridges on the market.

This fridge is huge, as others have stated, both inside and outside. I bought it knowing it would never fit where the old fridge was--eventually, we will build a kitchen around this fridge. For now, it is great to have digital temperature controls, a very large freezer space, and, as someone who is very tall, it is great to be able to see inside the fridge without bending over.

The door pockets are very deep--enough so to hold a gallon of milk in either the left or the right door. The shelves slide out. There's 4 vegetable drawers and the fridge came with a "bonus plastic shoe box" as an extra crisper/box thingy. The compressor noise is very minimal--most of the time, the fridge is virtually silent.

Another reviewer mentioned the door alarm--yes, it's loud, but it doesn't come on until the doors have been for a few minutes--more than enough time to get jobs done. And from thereon, it seems to beep 3 times and then stay silent for 60 seconds. I think that's reasonable. The door alarm is important because these French Door fridges can appear to be closed but actually be open. That is a flaw across brands and seems intrinsic to keeping the gap between the doors sealed vs. visibility of the gap--so the door alarm serves an important purpose.
We've had this over a month and love it. The only complaints are that the finish marks easily (greasy fingers) and the lights are hot to the touch. But it looks sharp, keeps food cold, and has lots of space.

We should have known it was not a good purchase when the first unit was delivered with a broken ice maker. That unit was replaced and we have had nothing but trouble ever since. When we called LG the first time, there was no one in our area to service the unit, so we had to wait until they found someone that could/would service it. Then we waited for them to show up and when the service guy got here, and figured out the problem, he could not fix it because LG does not allow them to keep parts on the truck, the part was ordered then ANOTHER day was taken off of work to wait for the repair man. When he replaced the compressor, the one that was sent was faulty and it had to be replaced again, again we had to wait for the part to come in. We have gone through this provess 4 times. The freezer will not freeze things, the refrigerator does that. We have lost lots of food and time from work to wait for the repairman. I will never buy another LG product again. The quality AND service are deplorable.

Update: We purchased an extended warranty from Home Depot when we purchased this and they replaced it, giving us a credit for the purchase price towards a new refrigerator. We bought a GE and it is WONDERFUL.

5.0 out of 5 stars What A Fridge!, May 3, 2009

I love this fridge! First of all, it's beautiful not to mention HUGE! I never thought I would b caught dead spending so much for an appliance but so far it's worth it. we got ours from Home Depot during a sale so we got 10 percent off and free delivery. The delivery folks were on time and very careful and courteeous. The fridge is quieter than my old one but the icemaker is a little loud. You hear a thud every now and then but my last one didn't have an ice maker so I'm just not used to it. We thought about springing for the counter depth one but it's 300 more plus you lose 5 cu ft because they only make it in 20 cu ft. This one ended up fitting perfectly. Anyway it's roomy and wonderful and I love it! Good luck.

After 30 years of a harvest gold Frig made in 1970, finally died, we were thrilled to replace it with a new, classy frig. The Lg frig is very pretty and hold a lot, but We've owned for a little over a year and it had broke 3 times now. We've been given a replacement of the same frig, and it has broken again. Don't waiste your money on this POS.

1.0 out of 5 stars Looks great but not very sturdy. Not engineered very well., January 4, 2010

I have owned an LG French Door refridgerator for over 2 years now. I've had to replace a shelf unit in it 3x. The shelf that holds the vegetable crispers does not have stability and when the weight of the veggie crispers causes the center section to sag, eventually cracking the plastice frame around the shelf.

I've called LG and they say that since it is out of warranty, they cannot do anything. The parts company says the only solution is to keep reordering the part. I've had to put folded towels under the crispers to give the unit more stability. Should that be necesarry on a 2 year old unit that costs over $1500???

The style of the fridge is great. Lots of room, deep door pockets. The shelves are a bit of a problem, lots of wasted airspace as there is limited shelf height adjustment. I would look at other brands if you like the french door style refridgerator. Our neighbors bought a Whirlpool and have not had any problems. A friend has the same LG fridge in stainless steel and is not happy with it at all.
Shame on LG for not offering assitance to customers on these refridgerators. I will not buy anymore LG products.

1.0 out of 5 stars Really Annoying Door Alarm CANT TURN OFF, June 14, 2008
BUYER BEWARE if you enjoy peace and quiet do not get this refrigerator it has a door alarm that goes off when the door is open for more than a few seconds. On this model there is no way to disarm the door alarm and as far as LG is concerned it is the consumer's responsibility to bear the cost to hire an appliance technician to turn this off. So when loading groceries to cooking your expected to only leave the door open for a few seconds.
