I'm a woman. But, I haven't worn anything but men's solar-atomic Casios for years. This because:

1) I don't want to mess with batteries.
2) I'm a stickler for accuracy.
3) I'm a watch killer, and Casios are hard to kill.
4) They look good. Many of the mens' styles look great on women, too, for casual or sporty wear.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Dream Watch!, July 1, 2008
This review is from: Casio Men's AWG100-1A G-Shock Multi-Band Solar Atomic Analog Watch (Watch)
When I opened the package, I was surprised with how this watch looked even better than it did on the web sites. The three small windows on the face are easy to see, but are not as bright as they look in the picture. The silver frame around the face and the hands stand out in a dark background, which is so cool! This watch is not small like baby-G, but is compact and looks like all you need for everyday life is packed inside.

The atomic system and solar power are really convenient as other reviewers describe them, and you don't have to do anything to keep this watch working accurately. I just grab it and put it on my wrist in the morning! Even though it's casual, it can be worn for work as well as recreation. Of course, this is G-Shock, so you don't have to worry about doing damage to it at all, while washing your hands, taking a nap, and even playing sports in the rain!

Personally, I like analog watches better than digital ones because you can quickly see the time in stead of having to picture the clock face in your head. But it's convenient to have digital display, too, to view the exact minutes and seconds. This watch is basically analog, but has digital display, as well, so you can enjoy the best of both worlds! Just a note, this watch doesn't have second hand (but you can see seconds on the digital display), and the minute hand moves every twenty seconds. It's kinda fun to watch.

The only change that I would make is to have the whole face illuminated, including digital display. The LED light only lights up the analog portion of the watch from the bottom of the watch face, and you cannot see the digital display in the dark (You can see the analog portion clearly without any trouble). So you shouldn't expect to set the alarm in the dark.

But over all, I'm quite satisfied with this watch and would recommend it to anyone looking for a tough, reliable, and good looking timepiece.

I was trying to decide between this one and the AWG101. Biggest difference I could see were the bezels and color, not worth the extra $20.00 or so. This watch is really nice looking, very light yet solidly built. I pretty much do not take it off. One of the best features is the solar re-charging. I do not know how many Ironman's or other sport watches I have ruined by replacing the battery and breaking the seal. Kind of freaky when I first took this watch out of the box and it started to set itself, then stopped at the exact time!! COOL. A little bulky, but not huge. The light is fine, it does what it is supposed to do and is a cool orange. Great watch and highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great basic watch, December 7, 2007

I use this watch for everyday use as Casio's tend to be nearly indestructable. Solar recharging works great but it took me a while to find a spot in the house where the watch could find the atomic clock signal. This is probably only a coastal issue as I am on the outskirts of the signal area. I would highly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful All-Purpose Watch, January 30, 2009

This review is from: Casio Men's AWG100-1A G-Shock Multi-Band Solar Atomic Analog Watch (Watch)
This watch is beautiful and has a classy look to it. It has everything, solar-powered battery, self-adjusting atomic time, waterproof, alarm, hourly chime, stopwatch and timer. It does look better than on the online pictures because it is discreet-looking and the black of the band blends nicely with the grey (a little lighter grey than on the pictures) of the face, and the metal ring. I think it's a sporty watch that goes perfectly with business-casual clothes. It's big, but still looks good because of the combination of dark colors. The hands are actually white, which makes it very easy to tell the time even in somewhat dark conditions. The tip of the hands, along with the tick marks of the hours on the dial glow in the dark.

I gave this product a 4-star rating because of some of the downsides of this watch. The light does not allow reading the digital displays, and the round digital displays are small when looking at the date, the secondary time (from another city), the timer and the stopwatch (imagine 4 digits cramped in the left-hand round digital display). It is fine when the display on the left shows the day of the week (first three letters show). The display on the right always shows the seconds (or 1/100 second with the stopwatch) with big enough numbers. I would have gladly given this watch 5 stars if it had not been for these little inconveniences. Since I wear my watch very casually, not for sports, I try to look for reasonably-priced watches with character and unusual features. This one is perfect and elegant in all social situations, as well as FULLY customizable: date, time (12 or 24H) or day in the left-hand round display,(alarm on/off), hourly chime ON/OFF, atomic auto-setting of the watch ON/OFF, Power saving function ON/OFF, even the beep made when you press the Mode button can be turned off. A great timepiece.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good watch + light, June 16, 2009
By Josiah (Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Casio Men's AWG100-1A G-Shock Multi-Band Solar Atomic Analog Watch (Watch)
Besides the atomic time keeping and solar recharge it also has an excellent LED light. I use the LED light to obviously read the time, but also to see in pitch black areas around the house at night. It is like a mini flashlight if your eyes are adjusted to the dark. I can make out the thermostat reading, where light switches are, etc. The hourly chime is also very helpful, and the alarm I find is louder than most which is great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rugged, feature rich, super-accurate, March 1, 2009

I've had this watch for a little over 2 years now and it's got the scars to prove it :)

It's a G-Shock so it's supposed to be this way. I live in rugged country and, whenever I go out into the rugged outdoors, a Gucci just won't do it. I'm taking the G-Shock and I don't worry about getting it scratched and it got scratched more than once.

On the functions side, it synchronizes every night with the mother of all US clocks in Colorado. By the way, just because it does it for me it's not a guarantee that it will do it everywhere. The farther you are from Colorado the more iffy the sync feature is but, it will try to sync every night and, if you see that it fails repeatedly, you should try leaving it in a different spot - in my case, it will sync when left on the second floor but not from the first.

Other functions include the ability to show the time digitally, multiple time zones, daylight savings time auto adjustment, illuminated display, stop watch, calendar and, of course it's solar powered. Even though I can't say that I cared much about exposing it to the light, 2 years later, the battery indicator continues to show 'hi' (meaning 'high').

Besides scratches, the only defect I noticed was that following last fall's daylight savings time adjustment the analog minute hand fell one minute behind. The digital time display is still perfectly accurate though. I am curious if it's going to self-correct this coming Spring adjustment. We shall see. But, maybe I'm going to buy me a new one soon.

Bought this watch for everyday use and the package arrived very quickly from here, thanks Amazon!

The watch itself looks nice, i like this type over digital, i like the fact that one can chance different digital displays on the face, one can chance from digital display of the left hand circle from time, Day,to Month/date. The light seems to work fine.

I love the battery function where the battery gets charged when one is out under the sun or any strong light source.

This is my first ever Atomic watch so I can't really comment on how this watch is since i have nothing to compare to but so far it's been working great and i'm looking forward to not changing time in the future!

This watch is also quiet comfortable to wear, I slept while wearing it and didn't feel a thing.

Overall, this is an excellent everyday watch and you can't beat the price here!

Though I DO have the challenge of cutting them down to fit a 5.75" wrist.

I don't often wear Casio womens' watches because:

1) They don't have the gadgets and features that I like.
2) There's a dearth of atomic solar models.
3) They aren't made as well.

That being said, I bought this because my last solar-atomic finally gave up the ghost. This looks good, it's durable, and it has all of the features that I want. The 48-city world time function is GREAT! And, I like to have analog AND digital.

I DO love this watch. The ONLY reason I did not give it five stars is I have had it for two weeks, and cannot get it to make a five-minute correction. I haven't been able to get it to pick up the signal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fred Goodrich, a senior citizen review, May 30, 2010

This review is from: Casio Men's AWG100-1A G-Shock Multi-Band Solar Atomic Analog Watch (Watch)
The Casio Men's AWG100-1A G-Shock Multi-Band Solar Atomic Analog Watch arrived on time, exactly as predicted by Amazon. The box was in perfect condition. My wife watched me open the box, at the kitchen table, and low and behold, the instant the kitchen light hit the face of the watch, the hour hand started to move. It moved to a different time zone than Los Angles,my home town; in fact it moved to a town in the central time zone, somewhere in Minnesota, 2 hours later than Los Angeles. According to the date, it have been in the box at least 2 months and in that time it was exactly 8 seconds slow, amazing! I checked the battery charge by pressing button C, the reading was HI. As a side note: the owners manual is 3 1/4" by 2" high and 76 pages thick. The print is about 5 or 6 points, very small. So, on Google, I typed "casio, module No 4765" and pressed enter. Up came an address for the module, clicked on it and I was able to download the module in PDF format. The whole 76 page miniature manual prints out in 6 pages, 8 1/2 x 11. Took it to Fed Ex Ginko and had the 6 pages enlarged to 11 x 17 inches and very readable. (approx $2.50) Anyway, I took my time and read the whole 6 pages. and then followed the recommendation to set the home town FIRST! Then, as an octogenarian,(86), I sat outside in the sun for 8 minutes with the watch looking at the sun, because the manual said that 8 minutes of sun would translate into 7 months of battery life. Casio keeps stressing to expose the watch to light as much as practical. I find it easy when driving in LA to hold my left wrist facing the sun whenever it is shining in the car.

Now about getting the nightly Ft Collins Colorado time hack. Incidentally, if the watch was only off by about 8 seconds after 2 months, missing an update from Ft Collins is no big deal. Anyway, I only have missed a time update once in the first month of use. Don't laugh, but I use a new roll of toilet paper to hold the watch and I place in the bathroom about 7 feet from the window. The band fits neatly on the roll with the 12 o'clock position facing the window. I had a map of the USA and determined that the 12 o'clock position of the watch should face about 45 degrees to the right of North, to be looking at Ft Collins. The watch lays flat on the roll of paper. It works every night. Of course, I will find a permanent substitute for the toilet paper in the future.

The watch is very comfortable on my left wrist. I should mention that the band was too long for my wrist, so my local shoe maker simply cut off about 1/2 inch. I could have cut it myself. I'm surprised at how light the watch is for its size. I now wear it every where. I do not miss a sweep second hand! I wear spectacles and have no trouble at all reading the digital features.

I am happy with the watch and if it lives up the reputation it enjoys, I will let you know how it performed for 14 years when I reach 100.
