The biggest problem I have with this laster pointer is that the threads which hold the battery case together are inadequate. I have to tape the laser together to make it work.

Cheap in every sense, May 31, 2009

The biggest problem I have with this laster pointer is that the threads which hold the battery case together are inadequate. I have to tape the laser together to make it work.
The 42 heads are a gimmick. That was OK with me since I wasn't planning to use them. But if you are you should know that there are really only about 10 unique heads. The rest are repeats. But it's good they repeat a lot of heads because their manufacturing process is so sloppy that quite a few of the heads had glue across the optical window, rendering that head worthless.
On the plus side, with no head and with the unit taped together, the laser functions.

Item arrived DOA, August 6, 2009
This review is from: 42 Head Laser Pointer Beam Keychain with Batteries (Misc.)
I guess it's hit or miss with this laser pointer because I ordered one and when it arrived it was completely dead. I tried a new set of batteries and still nothing. Overall, I would say you get what you pay for, namely a cheap product for a cheap price. The casing is thin and the various laser heads are a little bit excessive but if you get a functioning unit then it's probably worth what you paid for it. I unfortunately had to pay nearly $3 return shipping for a $5 product so did not try to re-order another one. Good luck!

Fair Product, May 25, 2009
This review is from: 42 Head Laser Pointer Beam Keychain with Batteries (Misc.)
It is a fair product, I only use the clear head without any shapes or whatever. Just the dot for my presentations during my MBA. Works fine and easy.

Worked well for 2 months, then died., May 5, 2009
This review is from: 42 Head Laser Pointer Beam Keychain with Batteries (Misc.)
Used this laser pointer for use with our cat, he loved it. After about a month, I replaced the batteries and it worked fine, but after another month, it simply did not work, even with new batteries. Button clicked, but no light. Ah well, time to look for a higher quality replacement.

Not what it showed, October 12, 2009
This review is from: 42 Head Laser Pointer Beam Keychain with Batteries (Misc.)
The 42 Head Laser Pointer Beam Keychain is awful. It does NOT show the images it says it shows. The images shown online are blown up by 1000%. I canNOT even tell the difference between each laser head. Only ONE laser head out of 42 actually shows a far enough laser to be of any use. It costs more to return it than it was to buy. To future buyers: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT OR FROM THIS PERSON. THE BOX LOOKED OPEN AND IT DOES NOT EVEN WORK LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO!! THIS WAS A GIFT AND NOW I HAVE NO GIFT!!
I AM VERY UNHAPPY!!!

Wish I could do a zero star rating, September 19, 2009
This review is from: 42 Head Laser Pointer Beam Keychain with Batteries (Misc.)
The metal is so thin that it bends when unscrewing to replace batteries (which were dead when I got it). Even with fresh batteries the light was so dim I could barely see it. I threw it IN THE GARBAGE immediately. More great stuff from overseas.

Worth the cost, but no more, September 17, 2009
This review is from: 42 Head Laser Pointer Beam Keychain with Batteries (Misc.)
The laser pointer is reasonably bright in a plain old dot. Of the 42 heads, about 20% didn't work at all because the lens (diffraction grating, actually) wasn't glued in securely and had fallen out or was at an angle to the beam. There was also a lot of overlap with 2 and sometimes 3 of the same pattern. So indeed there are 42 heads, but don't expect 42 distinct working patterns.
The heads that did work presented a very weak pattern which is to be expected. The laser itself is so low power (read "safe") that when spread a bit there's not much energy left. In a very dark room it's fun, but the patterns really can't compete with an LCD projector.
So, if you want an inexpensive red point, then this one is worth $5 or so. But don't expect the additional heads to be of much value.

crap laser pointers of awesomeness, February 23, 2010
This review is from: 42 Head Laser Pointer Beam Keychain with Batteries (Misc.)
Cheap, crappy laser pointers, but they're great for cat toys and the kids! I got six sets. Most of them came with dead batteries, but the company included a few extra packs of batteries for free, so I was impressed!

My cat loves this thing!, April 2, 2009
This review is from: 42 Head Laser Pointer Beam Keychain with Batteries (Misc.)
I've had this laser pointer for a few days now. My cat absolutely loves it! I've tried out 6 or 7 of the different heads -- the cat doesn't care but it helps make it a little more interesting for me. The only drawbacks are that 1) you have to hold the button down, you can't simply turn it on, and 2) The heads aren't labeled so you don't know what you're going to see until you attach it. It's not the highest quality, but it's still a great product for the price.
