5.0 out of 5 stars Love this pad
This pad is perfectly safe for babies, I'm sure the other reviewer hasn't actually seen one. No one is more paranoid than I am about this, believe me. This pad is only two inches thick - not like the 6" mattress toppers the other reviewer is likely thinking of - and once you add a mattress pad and sheet over it, the surface doesn't sink down enough to trap a baby's nose...

1.0 out of 5 stars Extremely hazardous! Do not buy for your baby's crib!
Ask any pediatrician- There is a reason crib mattresses are as firm and uncushionaed as they are. It's so that when your baby rolls over in their sleep, they do not smother themselves. I can't believe somebody actually lacked the common sense and/or decency to create and market this for crib use. While this may be fine in a 2/yo toddler's bed, it has no place whatsoever...

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this pad, December 11, 2008
This pad is perfectly safe for babies, I'm sure the other reviewer hasn't actually seen one. No one is more paranoid than I am about this, believe me. This pad is only two inches thick - not like the 6" mattress toppers the other reviewer is likely thinking of - and once you add a mattress pad and sheet over it, the surface doesn't sink down enough to trap a baby's nose. It's a little hard to explain, but if you have a memory foam mattress, you'll know what I mean when I say the "sinkability" goes down once you add a mattress pad and sheet over it.

I tested the safety of the pad by watching both my twin daughters with their faces planted directly nose-down, and still they could breathe without any hindrance. So as you can imagine the padding isn't much, but it still does help baby to sleep more comfortably.

I have one pad already, and just purchased a second. The girls sleep soundly on this pad - typically 10-11 hours straight - whereas they wake up every hour with their unpadded crib mattress. It's just too uncomfortable for them. You can see why I had to buy a second one of these!

5.0 out of 5 stars Made the difference., February 16, 2010

Perhaps the 1 star reviewer hasn't actually slept on a crib mattress as an older child.

My now 19 month old was having trouble last month when we switched her from our memory foam bed to her toddler bed. She tossed and turned.

We got her this topper and put her sheet over it and the mattress, it makes it super snug but still comfy.

Her sleep dramatically improved.

Would I put a newborn on it? Not sure, ours sleep in our bed with us in our memory foam and no one has died yet. ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars So comfy for my boy, February 11, 2010

My son is nearly 2 and hates his toddler bed with a passion. His rock hard crib mattress was just too uncomfortable for him so I decided to buy this for him. He loves it. He immediately crawled into bed and melted there for about ten minutes. I'll have no problem getting him out of my bed for good this time. Great purchase!
