When the battery is fully charged, I get about five to seven hours of power (depending on screen brightness, active programs, etc.).
Also, my battery fit perfectly into the slot. There was no force necessary as stated in a previous review.

I bought this product admittedly without reading carefully enough through the product description: I took myself to be buying an original Dell battery. When it arrived, it did not fit quite perfectly into my computer; it took an unhappy amount of force to get it situated. My computer (an Inspiron 1520) did indeed recognize the battery without any problem. However, it does not seem to power the computer for as long as my original Dell battery did, which would last for almost 6 hours when it was new. Perhaps this is because I have not yet "trained" the battery. But after the first charge and deplete and recharge, my battery meter now tells me that the freshly charged battery is good for about 4 and a half hours. That's not quite as good as I was hoping.

My old stock battery only held a charge for 20 minutes' worth of use, so I definitely needed a new one. When I saw this one, it was an easy choice. Being a 9-cell, it's important to remember that it will stick out a bit (roughly an inch) from the back of your laptop; I do not see this as a con.
My laptop (Vostro 1500) accepted it without the slightest difficulty, and sliding it into the battery slot was effortless. Even after the recommended breaking in process (which was presented in badly translated English), it does not last as long as I had hoped. I can get two to three (somewhere in the middle) hours of moderate use from a full charge, which is still a marked improvement. The computer's power gauge estimate of how long the battery lasts is not accurate, sadly. It believes the charge lasts longer than it really does, and the battery dies around the 10% mark (though when I plug it in and turn it back on, it properly reports the approximately 0% reading). There may be a way to fix this, but I don't know it.
All things considered, this is probably not the highest quality battery you can find, but it's more than worth it for the price.

Good battery. Fit perfectly. Not quite as good performance as my original dell 9-cell (now 4.5 hrs instead of original 5+), but at 1/5th of the price I am completely satisfied with this product. Please note that this is the 9-CELL battery and will stick out the back. Some people seem upset that this battery sticks out the back and their old one did not. The 6-cell does not stick out like the 9-cell. Please do not rate this product low because the battery sticks out. This is due to the design by DELL and not because of this specific battery.
I would definitely recommend this product.

All I was looking for was a battery that would give this 2 year old Vostro a little more life, while I saved up to replace it. So far it's worked for about 2 months, and the battery life seems to be comparable - I use the laptop plugged in 90% of the time, so my requirements aren't as stressing as most, but for what I needed it's just right (and definitely the right price).

My orignal dell battery when it was just over two years. A new battery at dell website costed almost 25% of the laptop cost and therefore I decided to look for an alternative. I googled and checked a lot of products online and finally decided to go with the one listed here at Amazon.com.
I was a bit skeptical becaues it was a Chinese make and was 1/3rd the cost of orignal dell battery. By the way, the orignal dell battery is also made in china and then labeled by Dell as far as i know.
The battery fitted perfectly in the batterly slot of my Dell Inspiron 1520 and worked great. I get almost 4 hrs of backup. I need to see how long the battery lasts but if it can live for two years, I will be more than happy.
I am glad I made this purchace.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 and the factory battery finally became unusable. I went to Dell's website to purchase a new one and I could not believe the price they were charging. I decided to go with an aftermarket battery. I very rarely travel with my laptop so battery performance is not important to me. I went with this battery because of price and reviews. I also decided there was no reason not to upgrade to the 9 cell over the factory 6 cell. Nothing wrong with more battery life when I need it. My order was fulfilled by Amazon and arrived when they said it would. The battery came in its own box, padded with foam, and in a bag. There was no paperwork at all: no instructions, no tips, no warranty, no cautions. I would have liked a standard set of instructions. The battery was already charged. I was impressed with the quality. The battery has a built in charge meter just like my Dell battery did. I works as expected and I have not had any problems in the short time I have been using it. Besides the fact that the 9 cell battery sticks out behind my laptop (which I knew when I purchased it and don't find to be a problem) the battery adds a noticeable amount of weight to my laptop which may be something to consider before purchasing it.

This battery replaced by original on my Dell 1720 Inspiron laptop. I installed and followed the procedure for charging the battery. So far the battery has lasted as long as I have had it unplugged without running out.

Purchased this battery as a replacement to my going going gone dell 9-cell battery which lasted almost two years.

Plugged this baby in and charged it up. Took about 30 minutes to fully charge. So far, the charge has lasted 3 hours with 2 hrs 49 mins remaining. I'm sure this amazing time will diminish over time but, I am enjoying it while it lasts. Btw, since my laptop originally came with a 9-cell, I was used to the abnormal fit of the battery. Not a big deal to me as I got used to it.
