Blazing Speeds!!
The cost of these drives has just dropped so I decided to go for one. I have done plenty of research and checked out the reviews of all SSD's and this one really stands out, check out www.tomshardware.com. Installed the drive and OS without any issues on an IBM T61. Win XP now boots in 9 seconds!! Compared to a previous time of about 35 - 45 seconds. I am very happy so...

Buyer Beware
I don't know how the other reviewer researched this drive. It reformatted itself on me. I wish I'd seen this, posted at http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?p=5810272 .
The Intel drive, on the other hand, has been great. It has great performance and I haven't had any issues thus far.

Got the drives back from OCZ. And guess what? Same exact problems. I ended up purchasing an Adaptec 31605 to see if the onboard cache would help, as well as maybe handle the SSD better than onboard controllers. Unfortunately they don't even work at all with the high-end Adaptec controller. Can't write anything to the drives without the raid array tripping an alarm on the card. Can create the array fine and format, but once you try to write anything, it locks up and fails. Tried different controller BIOS's and everything, nothing worked.
OCZ Has done nothing to address the issues that many people are having. Been over a month since i've had my drives and no single fix has been stated- Doesn't seem like they are even close to figuring out what's going on either. All OCZ does and tell you to try this, then try that, then try this- No concrete configuration seems to compatible so far- Every chipset out there has been reported to have problems by forum members.
OCZ is blaming Windows and Motherboard manufacturers. However, other MLC drives, such as the super talent mlc drives, seem to not have these issues at all. It's obvious OCZ did not test these drives before they started selling them, and expect their customers to do the Beta testing for them.
Also Core V1 and Core V2 are having the same exact issues- So please be aware if you're thinking that the V2 is going to be better- Now... what can I do with $600 of file corrupting, windows stuttering SSD drives? Can't sell them on Ebay, as the buyer would have the same problems.
I'm posting this so nobody else has to throw away money like I just did on a product that I thought was from a reputable company- Call me Biased if you want, and Irate, but I've spent over 30-40hours installing, configuring, updating again and again on a product I really wanted to work. So, yeah, I'm a bit Irate- "

I bought this drive with the intention to put in my home system (with 3,5" adapter ofcourse) due to absent noise, but couldn't resist putting it in my notebook.
Wow... This thing is incredible. Booting of my OS now takes less than 15 seconds!
The seek time i amazing. Just look at the results of the test:

I paid nearly 400 dollars for this drive with shipping and customs. What a waste of money. Failed totally in one month. I have an accomidata, WD my book and a maxtor that have been running combined a total of 13.5 years. 6 accom 6 yr, maxtor 6yr, my book 1.5 yr. The solid state drive I found was no faster than any of my sata II drives, and had less abilities than a standard drive. Maintenance for example, you cannot format or defrag this piece of junk so if it's buggered it's buggered. Anyhow I have a pc/laptop office in my house that is every tech savy persons haven. It's clean, no dust,cleaned regularly, perfect temp/humidity and this drive failed miserably within one month on light non-continueous use. Total junk. OCZ's tech support is also junk. If you buy this drive good luck getting a replacement when it fails on you after the first month.

I purchased one of these drives and tried to get it to work with my ThinkPad x60s laptop. After two weeks, I gave up with data coruption and serious pauses when writing to the drive. They are now saying the drive should only be used in laptops built in 2007 or newer.
Someday, relatively inexpensive SSD drives will be available and will work well. At 5x the cost of a 200gb drive, this one isn't there yet.

I purchased the drive to upgrade the mechanical drive in my Lenovo T61p (less than a year old) with the intent of cloning my existing system to the new OCZ drive. The clone worked; the drive doesn't. It hangs every time it tries to do multiple accesses at the same time, sometimes freezing for 30 seconds or more.
OCZ support suggests I must do a clean install of the operating system; every upgrade I have made for many years has been a clone that took all of an hour or so. I'm not going to wipe the disk and spend two days reinstalling with no guarantee the drive will work any better.
My suggestion is that the drive might work for a new system, but if upgrading via a clone is your plan, do not buy this drive. OCZ has no clue of how to fix or remedy this, just suggestions to nuke my data and programs and reformat the drive and "see if it works any better" which is like asking me to push my car down a hill to see if the wheels work.
