Great for the price
This product is a fantastic replacement for any notebook drive, but be aware that if you are booting vista, because of the constant read/write procedures that are built in, you won't notice much of a difference in performance between this and a standard 7200 rpm drive. That having been said, its super reliable and if you boot another OS it shows a marked improvement. Also...
works fine, speed isnt worth the money yet. used for win 7 64-bit, then for ps3

Also keep in mind that this is by no means among the fastest of the solid state drives available, but it is also significantly less expensive than others. If I could go back, I probably would have spent the extra to get a quicker drive, but ultimately if you are simply looking for something slightly faster than a normal hard disk and much more reliable, you will not disappointed with this product.

Because my 3 year old laptop doesn't have a SATA interface, I'm in the market for a new PC!
This drive is just short of awesome. Boot time for XP is about 1/3 of what it was, and the fact that I can carry my 'brains' on so portable a drive is wonderful. (I remember when a couple of floppies were enough)
I didn't get to play with it until the 26th, and I'm still in the process of loading it up with all my tools.
As I develop SAS/SATA BIOS software, it also fits well into my test/development goals. Instead of hauling a laptop from place to place, I can now, in many cases, just put my development environment in my pocket and take it with me. With so many dissimilar PC's to hook up to, I don't know if I can use it for booting everywhere, but I can surely have my editors/debuggers/compilers and test tools handy.
It barely gets above room temperature when sitting on a desk (using USB), though it feels warmer when running off a SATA connection (probably because it is nearer the computer), it don't think heat will ever be a problem unless I set it on the dashboard in a hot car.
I have 16GB, 4GB, 1GB, and a couple of 512MB thumb drives, but they can't measure up for comparison. This is a real hard drive, and it's real fast too.

This drive is lightning fast. The 2.5" form factor let me drop it right into my laptop... EASY PEASY. I'm never going to worry about shock damage to the drive. My battery life improved, and the system is nice and cool.
Take a look at the photo... there's also a mini USB output. If I ever decide to get a new system, or want to upgrade, I'll just pop the drive back out and use it as a ultra rugged pocket drive.
I'm so happy. Thanks Amazon. Thanks Cavalry.
Did I mention THIS DRIVE IS FAST?

hard drive is nice n small, has a usb port to use as a portable drive, which i liked. i used it in my computer first, running windows 7 64 bit. worked fine without any problems whatsoever -- this is my first ssd drive, too. anyway, not much of a performance increase. other than shaving a few seconds off of my boot-up times, i didnt notice much else over the previous 7200rpm drive i had in there. not very impressive for the price, wont buy another. later, used this drive in my ps3, replacing an aftermarket 7200 rpm drive i had put in -- again, negligible performance increase, cant even tell the difference in the ps3 to be honest. good drive if you want versatility, speedy boot times and quick transfers within the drive itself. if youre lookin for a performance boost over 7200, its not really worth it -- use the money to get a much larger, standard hard drive.

I was kinda skeptical about SSD's at first but now that I have it, i certainly don't regret getting it. It's the fastest thing out there and it allows my system to boot in less than a quarter of the time it used to take.
As an avid computer user and gamer, i can tell you there is a noticeable difference in speed. When playing games, the environment loads almost instantaneously.
I bought another one for my laptop and I used to worry that the hard drive might fail if I bump it or handle it the wrong way, the drive would die and I'd lose all my data. But now that I learned SSD's are very durable (you can toss it across the room and it would not break, although i wouldn't recommend doing that), I am no longer afraid to carry my laptop around more often. Another thing that I love about this is that it uses just a small fraction of the power a regular 2.5" drive would use. On a laptop, this can greatly extend it's battery life.
Overall this is a great product, and I recommend everyone to get one. The only thing that I wish was different was that I had more money to get more :)

I'm very happy with this choice, it's my first solid-state HDD and I replaced the HDD on my 2009 MacBook. There are now no moving parts and the applications open almost instantly, though I don't have any real comparison with the original HDD as far as improved speed.
Highly recommended!

It might be just a case of incompatibility with my motherboard's SATA interface. (which I doubt it, as my motherboard is somewhat decent, the high end of gigabyte's offerings for Intel P45 popular chipset EP45-DQ6).
But in any case, I thought it might be helpful to point out that it does't work well over SATA (lots of corrupted files) when running under Windows 7 64bit (haven't tried it under other OSs)
However, it works very well via its handy built-in USB interface.

I installed my Cavalry Storage Pelican Series 64 GB SSD in my office PC. It replaced a 10,000 rpm Raptor which was an excellent hard drive expect in my case it had an annoying little ticking noise every 10 seconds or so. To be fair I'm pretty sure the ticking was not the Raptor's fault because it is caused by XP repeatedly accessing the drive for no apparent reason. Click click ... click click ... very irritating. Well anyway, thats all behind me since I installed the absolutely silent Cavalry Storage Pelican Series 64 GB SSD. Now XP can do its thing and I can have my quiet office back.
UPDATE: I have since ditched XP and moved up to UBUNTU. The switch went without a hitch and absolutely no complaint from my happy little Cavalry Storage Pelican Series 64 GB SSD. I'm sure its happy because it was faster running XP than the Raptor and even faster still on UBUNTU.
Well, I hope that helps someone decide what to buy. Sometimes its the little niche answers that help the most. I know I've been helped with purchases here before. So thanks to everyone who has ever taken the time to review a product for Amazon.

Maybe I'm spoiled...this drive is exceedingly fast. Usually.
However, at times it seems to slow down quite a bit. For example when copying small files around, or accessing lots of files. For example reading and writing to the same drive using the maven assembly plugin (programmer tool). It takes 6 minutes if the files are on this drive, 5 minutes if they are on the spinning disk. I never expected to see this disk pegged at 100% utilization, but it happens every so often (like in this case).
That being said, I'm spoiled, because it really is quite fast in most instances.
Also, using FastCopy helps a bit on windows (though not much).
Plugging it in via USB (included) works like a champ, though much slower than SATA.
Using CrystalDiskMark 2.2 (attached via SATA)
seq speeds: 165MB/s read, 54MB/s write
512K random: 150MB/s read, 46MB/s write
4K random: 16MB/s Read, 2.2MB/s write

I'm using this as an external drive. It works well and is, of course, very fast. Please note that it does not come with a cable, so if you're using it externally, you'll need to purchase one. That's the reason for the 4 stars versus 5. Not a problem if you're using the drive internally.
