5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!!!
I'm really happy with this treadmill. I can't tell the difference between this one and much more expensive models. It has preset routines, automated incline, pulse monitor, a cup holder. It's sturdy to walk on and absorbs impact for a cushy run. Runs smoothly and quietly. And has a lifetime warranty. And free shipping!

3.0 out of 5 stars OK for home use - directions sketchy
Some bolts hard to install. No reference to have to find the on/of switch to start it up. It's near the right front at floor level. Not a convenient location. Hard to lubricate base for tread belt, not much room. After setup and getting it started my wife is very happy with it. She really likes the slow start up and slow down feature, instead of jumping on it at...

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the money!, February 26, 2009
By Hadassah (ny, usa) - See all my reviews
I would have to say I researched buying a treadmill for some time and came upon this one for many reasons. 1. it was in my price range. I also saved $87 dollars on the shipping. As for shipment , it came fast and was in mint condition. Setup, was easy. This machine is a sturdy piece of equipment. Doesn't feel cheap. I will say I wish it would fold up more vertical but with all the features it is more than satisfactory. If your looking for something durable and effective for your exercise needs this will surely be the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, March 1, 2009

I've been in the fitness industry for over 10 years and have always been leary about buying a "cheap" home machine. This treadmill works great for home use. I was thoroughly impressed. I'm 230lbs and I can run on it with no problems! Great machine for the money!

Hard to lubricate base for tread belt, not much room. After setup and getting it started my wife is very happy with it. She really likes the slow start up and slow down feature, instead of jumping on it at full speed. So far a good value for the price. The heart rate monitor is a little uneven, but it's not that important to her. Have only tried two exercise modes which did both work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!, March 10, 2009
My husband and have been using this machine for about a month now and are still in love with it. The cup holders are great and the book ledge doubles as an ipod holder. I'll admit we haven't done any of the routine maintenance as the book told us to do. But, the machine doesn't seem to mind. I absolutely recommend this treadmill and I am a very, very picky person :)

I love this treadmill. It was delivered very quickly. I was able to assemble it with only some minor help, and I don't have a mechanical bone in my body. The treadmill itself works well. I didn't know much about them, but it's very user friendly. I highly recommend it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible experience with treadmill and Merrit Fitness, December 10, 2009

We had a horrible experience with this treadmill. It arrived non functioning. Customer support takes forever to contact and most of the time offers an option to leave a number for a call back that never once came. After two visits from a tech and two seperate parts deliveres, the treadmill still didn't work. Merrit/Horizon/Johnson Health evidently told the tech they would replace it, but did not make any attempt to contact me. I called again and after being on hold for 30 minutes, was forced to leave my number and a message. Still no call back. I would not buy anything from this company, Horizon or Johnson Fitness ever again.

On the positive side, one quick call to Amazon got me a full refund and free pickup of this large, useless item. Amazon.com really stepped up and took care of the situation in one call. They're paying to pick it up and I don't even have to take it apart and put it in the box. Fantastic service from Amazon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Manual/user's guide directions were incorrect, May 9, 2009
By Mary T. (Oak Lawn, IL) - See all my reviews
I was so excited about getting a good treadmill at a reasonable price - with free shipping! We had a few days of confusion as it appeared that the enclosed hardware bag #1 was incorrect and was missing parts. The hardware store couldn't help us, but the merit fitness customer service rep assured us they would send out the correct bag the next business day. My husband eventually figured out that the enclosed manual itself was wrong. We compared it to the manual I had downloaded off the www.meritfitness.com website, which turned out to be correct. He was able to assemble the machine in a short time afterward.

4.0 out of 5 stars from BAD to GOOD, August 27, 2009

DAY 1-broken!
i just received the treadmill after waiting a week for delivery, and unpacked it to start assembly. the motor casing is cracked open and the motor has dropped. i called customer support who tried to tell me it was just a cosmetic issue, and i had to persuade him to understand that it was more than cosmetic and that it was broken. he is mailing out replacement parts that will take 7 more days, then i have to schedule an appointment with a tech to come into my house, then wait around and take more time out of my day for something that should have been brand new and functioning. so it may be weeks before i can even use the thing, i will update my review when/if it is assembled...

DAY 12
repair parts have arrived and local repair man will come to fix in three days. great customer service of repair company. they called ME to arrange the appointment.

DAY 15-fixed!
repairs were made by a local fitness repair company called AER, who have allowed me to change my one star rating up to 4. he was on time and polite and put the treadmill together for me! i hopped on and was relieved to find that it was a smooth, quiet ride. there are still a lot of features that i need to explore, but the 4 mph jog was just fine. so far, so good!

COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER
Still working great, lost 10 pounds! A little bit squeaky, but if you raise the incline a bit it goes away. I live in an apartment and if I close the door you can barely hear it in the next room. If anything it sounds like a pair of jeans in a dryer. Not sure how accurate the mile or calorie meter is, but I usually just run for time. Definitely worth the $400!
