2.0 out of 5 stars Confusing and hard to follow
I just can't get past the capturing of Team Dim Sun's Rampardos. Otherwise I enjoy the game, but maybe it's because I'm so old and don't understand. If I ever get past this, I am sure I will enjoy this as much as I enjoy Pokemon Diamond & Pearl.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Nintendo has once again created a spectacular game, November 12, 2008
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia (Video Game)
I am currently playing Pokemon Ranger: shadows of almia, and it is so different from the first. The missions which in the first lacked somewhat, are a lot harder. You also have Quests, which are things you are asked to do by villagers. When you first start out in the game you are a student at a Ranger school, where you learn how to play the game. After graduating you are sent to your home in chicole town. But you are a ranger in Veil town, which is nextdoor. So home is always close by. Another new feature is the fact you can have more then one pokemon partner. You get these by doing Quests. When you complete quests you get new stuff for your ranger styler. To get higher rank is alot harder as well, but that makes the game more fun. You have new bad guys in the game, and are very challenging. The fun ascpet of the first game is still there along with the awesome character artowrk and personalities. I highly recomend this game to any poke fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected, November 15, 2008
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia (Video Game)
Shadows of almia is a LOT better than the first one. The story mode walks you more clearer through the game. The first one was a little scrambled but this one is a lot more clearer. I'm still currently playing and cant seem to put it down.. Can't wait to get further into the game and see what more unfolds! Also can't wait to get the special quests done!

I haven't had so much fun with pokemon in a long time. Much better than the first one. Lots more interesting. Never a dull moment from mission to the quests. If your new to Pokemon Ranger Series, this one is by the far the best and most enjoyable. Hint, Hint a strategy guide helps!
I recommend it for all ages.
enjoy

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun But Underappreciated Pokemon Game, December 16, 2008
A Kid's Review
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia (Video Game)
This game is a sequel to Pokemon RAnger which was very good and you should get. IN this game lots of pokemon from the Sinnoh Reigon show up for you to "capture". To capture pokemon you loop around them with your stylus or "styler" in the game and use poke power ups. There is a great story line with a cool, but predictable twist at the endgame. This game is really worth it, but I wish I could have found out more about the game from the blurb on the back of the box. Anyway, this is an awesome game I reccomend for all people who are about 8 to 12 years old (like me)!

Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia is a vast improvement on the original Pokemon Ranger game. Any complaints from the first game are fixed here. From having more choices of Partner Pokemon instead of just being stuck with one to being able to lift the stylus off the screen while doing a capture without having to start over, these are just the tip of the iceberg with this game. I highly recommend it for fans of the original game and for Pokemon fans in general for the downloadable missions that, after completion, transfer special Pokemon to the Diamond and Pearl editions.

My granddaughter was so excited when she opened Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia for Christmas. I believe she put all her other gifts aside and starting play Pokemon immediantly. Thank you, my granddaughter was extremely happy.

Compared to basically most of all the other pokemon games, this is definitely something out of the routine. And I really like that.
With the missions and quests that you get, it's just sort of something new every time~ and it's great being able to see the pokemon before you have to battle it, that way you can avoid them (the slower ones anyway) and not have to spend time fighting or running away when you don't want to do that in the first place.

I just really enjoy this game, but I warn! If you don't have something protecting your touch screen, you really should get it, because doing all the "capturing" will seriously wear out your screen faster.
I've been playing the game for a few days now, and my protection seal already has a lot of circular scratches on it hahah. That is the only downside of this I see.

This game is way better than the first installment in the Pokemon Ranger series for the DS. It is very similar in terms of graphics and gameplay, yet offers significant improvements. For example, one doesn't need to circle their targets quite as furiously as before, which had previously led to blisters on my fingers. This one is slightly easier yet no less fun. Also, the ability to send certain special Pokemon over to the Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum games is a plus.

This pokemon ranger game is alot better than the original. All of the controls and everything are the same but the gameplay is enhanced. for isntance, when your capturing, if your styler doesnt make a full line or you need to pause for a second, which happens for me alot anyways if they're attacing the line, you dont loose all the progress you just did. the meter that you have to monitor how much more you need to capture them goes down slowly so you dont have to start all over again. The missions have more depth than before and I love the new quest feature. Every time you finish a quest you unlock more power for you styler.

All in all, this is an excellent game and I recommend to anyone who loves pokemon.
