I was a little skeptical about the price, but if you shop around you will find that the good plastic kitchens are $70+ dollars. This one is wood (not solid wood). 3.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed
We got this kitchen for our 2 and 4 yr olds. When it arrived, the plastic sink was already cracked. We put it together Christmas eve, me and my husband together along with our battery operated screwdriver didn't run into any problems and finished in prob. 2 hrs. On Christmas morning the boys were just looking it over and after about 3 minutes one of the doors broke off...

I was a little skeptical about the price, but if you shop around you will find that the good plastic kitchens are $70+ dollars. This one is wood (not solid wood). You have to put it together yourself. All the pieces are well labeled. It is easy to do. If you have ever assembled furniture, you will find this much easier. It is heavy to move by yourself, but you will not have to worry about this kitchen falling over.

The bright colors make it a good choice for boys or girls. It is a good size for older children to use and for 2 to 3 children to play with at the same time. This is better for children ages 4-8.

After moving it for the summer to be shared by toddlers and summer day care students it has lost all doors. The screws no longer stay in and the part that holds the door won't stay on. This is because younger children slam and swing on doors and want to climb on the kitchen.

I normal don't comment on products but any more as a rule I don't purchase anything without looking at the user reviews on Amazon. Since there are not many reviews on this product I felt compelled to say how please I am with this purchase. I just finised putting this together and it took about 2 hours however I was watching the football game so you could probably knock thirthy minutes (maybe 45) off that if you were focused. My wife and I were going to purchase the Melissa and Doug kitchen but after reading the reviews and people commenting that it took four hours to put together and they had to drill new holes because so many were misalligned we decided to purchase this one instead. I am very glad we did. What I like most of all is that when you screw two pieces of wood together you do not screw from one piece into another peice of wood but instead into a metal insert on the other piece of wood. You cannot strip out the insert like you can another piece of wood. You could actually take it apart and put it back together and it would be as strong as the first time you put it together unlike when you screw directly into wood. We purchased this for my two year old son so I am very happy with the primary colors. I am not sure why they say there are small parts the only thing I can think of is if one of the screws come out and then you would have a screw and metal insert that could be a choking hazard. I screwed everything together very tightly and I dont think one of the screws could come out. I'll let you know as I am sure it will get quit a work out from my son.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE FOR BOY OR GIRL, June 15, 2009

This review is from: Kidkraft Deluxe Let's Cook Kitchen (Toy)
It took my husband two hours to put this kitchen together. He is handy making furniture and other stuff from Ikea. So this was kind of same style... He didn't take a break in between. It took me fiffteen mintues to bring all the parts (mostly heavy parts) from garage to our kitchen. (since that's where this toy kitchen is going to stay). So all together 2hours 15minutes.

Which is totally worth it. It looks so good. My four years old son loves it. He can reach the sink and stove. He can open the microwaves too. My 16 months age daughter can open diswasher, oven and Fridge. So it is fun for her too. Lot of growing can be done (I even played with it for few minutes). I liked it for myself too :) I think kids can play with it till age 8 or even more if they are still into it. Maybe Girls are more than boys at that age.
It comes with wooden spoon, pot holder and other red wooden spoon. All that you see behind the stove in the picture. Oven, diswasher, freezer, refigrater and microwaves doors opens. (this kitchen does not have a turn table in the microwave). Dishwasher's wooden shelf can slide in and out of the door. I don't know how I feel about it. Sink can come out too. Oven shelf can not come out as it is design that way. Lot of storage room. Refrigrater has a shelf in it and freezer have room to put stuff in. All knobs for diswasher and oven move and make click sound which my 4 age son and 16 months daughter both enjoys it. sink knobs moves red for hot and blue for cold water but it doesn't make a clik noise. (it's not suppose to.... it does look real). very roomy as kids grow they can buy more appliance and put them next to microwaves and on the top shelf above the microwaves and freezer.
It comes with a wooden blue phone as shown on the picture and wall clock with moveable hands for hour and minutes. Clock is located on the left side (refrigrater side). My son loves moving the handles. I think I'm going to teach him how to tell time. Since he is showing interst in it.
I made room for this kitchen on one side of my own kitchen. So kids can play here while I'm busy cooking, doing dishes etc. They have their own kitchen to do all that. Beside it is white color with red stove top which makes it look really neat, and fun to have it in your kitchen. You will not get board looking at it.
Also kids are so busy with their own kitchen that they will not open and close YOUR kitchen cabniets and pantry, disherwasher etc.
This is the toy that kids of all ages can play with it everyday and still not get bored with it. A good investment which will last for years to come. Kitchen is made of solid wood, bottom shelf are also solid wood, not cheap kind. All corners are rounded so there is no chance for kids to get hurt. Grocery list and Water dispencer is painted on it...which looks really nice too. My 4yrs old plays with the water dispencer by putting his glass front of the picture and pretending that water in coming.
Nice chucking yet colorful and beautiful handle on all doors which makes it easy for even a 16months old to hold handles in their hands and open doors. POTS and dishes, (pretend food play) is something you will have to spend extra money on so kids can truly enjoy playing with it. Obviously no pot or dishes comes with it. Melissa and Doug and Learning Resource makes nice ones. You can choose wooden or platic.
Hope this review helped and answer your questions. By the way kidkrafts (maker of this Kitchen) are really helpful if you need any help building this or replacing any parts. This Kitchen came with all the instructions and tools. The only thing we need was two diffrents kinds of screw drivers which almost all homes have it in their house. 5 stars for quality, durabily and fun.

We got this kitchen for our 2 and 4 yr olds. When it arrived, the plastic sink was already cracked. We put it together Christmas eve, me and my husband together along with our battery operated screwdriver didn't run into any problems and finished in prob. 2 hrs. On Christmas morning the boys were just looking it over and after about 3 minutes one of the doors broke off after just opening and closing it. Then 5 days later another door broke off. They were unrepairable. The actual wood was breaking and the inside of those doors are like cardboard. This kitchen was not rough handled. We took it back and exchanged it for a plastic one. The kitchen is very pretty and big though. I just didn't want to keep it after only 5 days and 3 things were broken.

We were so excited to finally find a high quality wooden kitchen that is not pink! This kitchen is cute and has great colors that can be equally good for a girl or a boy. Unlike the plastic kitchens, this one is a heavy, sturdy, roomy kitchen made to outlast your kids. Every door has a catch to keep them closed securely so they don't just swing open, and there is TONS of storage space.

Our 4-yr-old son was really excited to see how big and complete the kitchen was. He couldn't believe he actually had a refrigerator AND freezer AND oven AND dishwasher, etc.

Assembly was pretty easy, if you've ever put wooden furniture together before, although it did take a few hours. The instructions were very clear, and all the holes were drilled properly, etc. We had no problems at all with assembly, and I only needed a 2nd set of hands to help once or twice.

I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this. We got it for Christmas, and he has been playing with it every chance he gets. Definitely a winner!

We bought this for our daughter's 3rd birthday. I picked the one with bright colors because the picture is so cute. She loves the telephone on the side of the refrigerator. Assembly took a while but everything fit together well. This model is so much sturdier than the plastic ones we have used. It is big enough for my 8 year old to enjoy also.

High quality, and a great value at $145+ free shipping. I just received this today, and if you're like I was--researching kitchen playsets for Christmas--this is a find! I was so impressed with the quality and the easy assembly, I had to write a review. Normally a project like this is a nightmare to assemble, but you won't have to search through a random bag of nuts and bolts here. EVERY piece is numbered, so you can do a quick inventory after you open the box, and the screws and other hardware are packaged individually by type and clearly labelled. The instructions and diagrams are also clear and easy to follow. From start to finish this is a 1 and a half to 2 hour, low stress job. All you need is a Phillips head screwdriver and a pencil (for inventory), as all other tools are included.

If you are looking for a high-quality, sturdy kitchen that's neither pink nor plastic, I think you'll be very happy when you get this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Toy Kitchen!, June 23, 2010

After deciding I wanted a kitchen for my son that was not plastic, I began looking around at the different options available. I was surprised at how many were very girly. I wanted something that he could use for many years and many of the cheaper ones were just too small. It was finally between this one and the Melissa and Doug one. They are practically the same in size and what they offer but this one was much cheaper. I built it by myself, with my 2.5 year old trying to help, in about 2 hours. The instructions are not the easiest to follow. There were a couple of steps where I had to really study the drawings to figure out exactly what they were telling me to do. I started with a hand screw driver but when I got to the final steps my hand and arm were just too tired and I used a small electric one.

My son is not the gentlest kid when it comes to playing and after a week there is nothing damaged. Judging from the quality, it would have to be played with really roughly for something to break. He has already figured out how to remove the shelves in the oven and dishwasher and likes hiding in there. Though it's not an air tight seal when the doors are closed, there are large, dollar coin sized, holes in the backings so that kids do not suffocate if they end up in there. Not needed but I thought it was an interesting feature.

My only complaint is that the refrigerator only has one shelf. I would have preferred two to help storing all the play food. The space between the bottom and the shelf and the shelf and the top is a little over a foot. Luckily, I had some wire locker shelves that fit perfectly in there and gives the extra needed storage.

I was so happy to find a kitchen that was not pink. I have two boys who both love to play in a kitchen. This is a well made kitchen. I have put together many different put together furniture items with flimsy pressboard. This is a very sturdy kitchen that should have years of life. It did take some time to put together but the instructions were easy for me to follow.
