1. we havent had any problem with the straps twisting
2. Our baby looks very comfortable, her head isnt pushed forward or flopping around.
3. the car seat cover IS removable

It is kinda big...for those of you with 3 in car seats it would be hard to fit them all in one car

We are very pleased with this car seat, and so is our little girl she looks so happy in it (before we got this car seat she would scream and cry the whole way!)

Dont listen to those peope who gave this car seat a bad review, because it is a great car seat, especially for the money!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Convertible/Booster Seat, March 12, 2009
We have only owned this for about a week, but so far it is a great seat. My 2 1/2 year old son seems very comfortable in it. He loves the orange color and the fact that it is a "big boy" seat. I love that it has the 5-point harness until he gets a little bigger and then it can be used as a regular booster seat. I feel safer to have him in the harness. The harness is very easy to adjust and the headrest adjusts as well. The seat goes up to 100 pounds so he should be able to use for a long time. It also has the energy absorbing foam. A great purchase that will hopefully last for many years to come!

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't cut the strap!, June 28, 2010
This review is from: Safety 1st Summit Deluxe High Back Booster Car Seat in Triton (Baby Product)
I have to say that I like this car seat, they were purchased for my 1 yo twins and they look very comfortable in them, no complaints anyway. They don't seem to sweat as much in these, when I take them out their backs are not as wet as they used to be when they were in their infant car seats and it gets hot out here in California.

It's true that their heads fall forward when they fall asleep, I've noticed it more on one of the twins who is a little smaller than the other. The other one kind of leans to the side and his head rests on the seat. But I just purchased a couple of childrens neck pillows found in Target or even Avon carries them. This seemed to do the trick and honestly only the pricier car seats are going to prevent this from happening. I've heard that the Britax Marathons hold the head pretty well but personally I can't afford to pay over $200 each when I paid about $180 for 2 of these. I love the color (Triton) and it is so easy to adjust as they grow, just pull the bar in back and raise, no threading! The recline is pretty nice also, it goes back far enough but we have a Tahoe and I'm thinking if you have a smaller car it might not go back as far? Oh and I really like the high back of this seat. They can get pretty tall and still be protected.

With all that said, don't cut the strap to remove the cover! I can see why other reviewers would say they had to do that to remove it, but it's very simple to remove the base. There is a metal rod underneath that holds the base to the seat, & on one side there is a lever you push, slide out the rod and voila it's off, you can then remove the strap and cover easily to be washed. Wash it, and hang dry. Is it easy to get the cover and rod back on? Yep! Once you line it up, it slides all the way in with no problems. My husband figured this out very quickly after I told him others were cutting the strap to take it off.
Overall, very happy with this purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 1/2 stars, April 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this seat in Triton for my 3 yo. It is a great looking, easy to install seat. I have been using it for almost 3 months now, and the straps haven't twisted at all. In fact the only issue I have with it, is how hard it is to take the cover off to wash. My daughter had a accident in it, and when I tried to take the cover off it was difficult. The cover is actually in 2 pieces- 1 piece that covers the headrest and surrounding area and is NOT removable, and a lower cover that is removable. I had to cut 2 elastic straps in the front to take the cover off. Hopefully I can get it back on. I didn't appreciate that, but other than that I love the carseat and would buy it again. Hope this helps. UPDATE: washed the cover in mild soap and hung it to dry. It went back on easier than I thought it would.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great...until it gets peed on!, June 17, 2010

(REAL NAME)
My toddler and I really liked this new car seat. It feels sturdy, comfy, and the arms fold up and can be covered with the padding. This was a big plus, as her seat is in the middle, and she can crawl into it so much easier with the arms folded up. I love the 'adjust from the front' feature for the shoulder harnesses and the cupholder. I felt that I had found a great carseat at a great price...at first.

On the down side, the second (and third) time my girl rode in her seat, she had a potty training accident. I had put a waterproof pad in the seat, but she tossed it out of the seat before climbing in. Since it's summertime in the south, her carseat stunk like the south end of a northbound camel by the time I pulled it out the next day to take the padding off.

Now, I'm not a car-seat newby. I've used many, many carseat models with my four children, and usually, cleaning the pad involves slipping the two ends of the harness out, and unhooking a few loops of elastic. This sucker requires an engineering degree.

Prepare to strip down the seat to bare bones to remove the padding. You're going to end up with a pile of clips, clip guides, the entire harness, two separate pieces for the carseat cover, ***and*** you get to remove a metal rod, which disassemble the carseat off of the base!
By the time I was done, I felt that I deserved some sort of certificate of carseat proctology. After washing the padding, I then had to play scavenger hunt for all the pieces my girl had moved all over the house, and re-assemble the beast.
Oh, and to add insult to injury: the instruction booklet is conveniently located in the pee-collection tray just under your baby's bum. Thanks a lot Mr. Carseat Designer!

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice seat, but some serious issues with cleaning, May 25, 2010
I have had this seat for about a year. I liked it until I had to clean it. It was a nightmare! I am a follow the instructions person and it was still very difficult. There are two straps that cannot be removed from the base to take the cover off. I even called the Dorel Juvenile Group, who make the carseat. There are further instructions that require removing the rod that runs through the base to remove the base in order to remove the last two straps. There is nothing mentioned about this step in the intruction booklet. The harness guides are also a little tough to pop out. I was worried about breaking something, but you just have to be rough. My other issue is that my daughters head falls forward when she sleeps even in the reclining position. I think the headrest is just a little too bulky to allow her head to stay back. This seat is affordable and safe, make sure you call the company to recieve the further instructions before cleaning. I hope this helps prospective buyers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it so much I purchased a 2nd!, July 11, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I needed to buy my older son a new car seat because his little brother was going to inherit his old one. He is still small enough to require the 5 point harness, but soon will not need it so wanted one that would become a booster. I did a lot of looking and research, and this seat is just what I expected. I love it, and most importantly my son loves it! It is really easy to set up and install. My only complaint is the weight. With the base that doesn't detach (has a cup holder if you are into that), it is a lot of weight. We don't move car seats around at all so this should be no big deal for me. If you are someone always moving seats around it installs easily and quickly, but just be warned it's a bit heavy. Once I installed this seat I realized how unsafe the old seat was. I didn't realize how tight the seat could fit into the car, and I even had the old seat safety inspected! So I bought a second one for my younger son, and I feel confident that the two boys are safe and secure! By the way, my other weight concern is that we are going to have to lug two of these with us when we travel by plane. Even with that being said, I would definitely recommend purchasing this seat!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loving this seat, so far, April 11, 2010

I needed something for my two yr old grandson that would be a step up from his big bulky baby seat. It fits the car seat so much better, is lighter, and easy for him to climb in by himself, wh ich is a huge relief for my back. I love that the arm rests fold out of the way so he doesn't have to climb over them to get in. It seems pretty cushy and he loves it. Plus, still has 5-pt harness, easy to adjust tightness, and graduates later into use with just the car seat belts when he is older. Fair price, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome seat!, April 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This seat has been perfect. Easy install, cup holder is really nice. So much easier for my daughter to get into with the raising armrest. This was a perfect transition seat. Some have complained about the harness twisting but I have not had any issues with this. My daughter looks very comfortable in it and loves it.

5.0 out of 5 stars So far so good..., February 17, 2010
By Mray "Mray" (Oklahoma, USA) - See all my reviews
I bought the safety 1st vantage seat and quickly realized that my son couldn't sleep very well in it so I traded it for this one. This one is MUCH nicer, the cup holder pulls out far enough that my son can grab it, other than that the compartments to put toys and such are under his seat, I guess you store stuff there that you don't want the kid to have. Not quite a deciding factor in buying the seat, just something they didn't think out.
It reclines like a dream. Also the strap adjuster for the harness is amazing. You don't have to thread the straps through anything, just pull a bar and the whole head pillow slides up and down easily. Even my son thought that was cool when he saw it!
The arm rest are a rubbery sort that the kids can move up or down. That is entertainment in itself for them!
Oh, and the seat if fully removable, I don't know why someone said it couldn't be removed, maybe an older version or something.
