3.0 out of 5 stars Not my favorite flavor
The full-bar weight loss principle seems to be working for me. I think of it like eating a sponge. It sits in your stomach, absorbs a ton of water, and then you're not hungry anymore. It keeps me from eating junk food in front of the TV at night, It keeps me from binging before dinner or in the later afternoon. Furthermore, I've found that once you have one in your...

5.0 out of 5 stars Does the trick!, October 24, 2008
This review is from: FullBar Weight Loss Bars Cocoa Chip Pak Twelve bars (Health and Beauty)
I purchased these through the fullbar website a few weeks back. One, to see if they worked, two if they tasted good and three if other's found them helpful as well. What I found is for me they are tasty and filling. I then gave a few of my overweight patients some to try. They found them to be very helpful. The very overweight patients lost on average 2lbs+/wk for the last 3 weeks. Normal weighted people, like myself, haven't lost in pounds, but I feel firmer as do they. I am a massage therapist, so I am pretty muscular, but I would like to stay healthy and maintain normal eating habits so this bar is great for me for just that reason, but it does seem to help with weight loss as well. I have tried all the flavors of these bars and they are all pretty tasty...No,they aren't horrid or dry, but they aren't snickers bars either. Just a fine, not overly done flavor that does fill you up prior to eating. I ate before lunch and dinner. Smoothie for breakfast.

Just in case you are wondering the average Nutrition Facts on all the bars are:
Total Fat 3g--- Sat. Fat 2g---Trans Fat 0g----Cholesterol 0mg---Sodium 105mg---Carbo's---31g---Fiber 4g----Sugars 13g---Protein 5g---

I'm a snack food junkie, especially for anything chocolate. Last year I was on NutriSystem and I was able to lose 25 lbs.; however, as soon as I went back to eating regular grocery store-bought food, I gained it all back.

A month ago I saw a commercial on TV for the Fullbar. I didn't want to order directly from Fullbar (more costly) so I got a couple Fullbar samples from a drugstore (cocoa and peanut butter).

These remind me a lot of Rice Krispy Treats. They are fairly large in size for a diet bar. The peanut butter was ok, and I would probably buy this flavor again if I get tired of the cocoa flavored bars. They appear to be puffed wheat bars blended with some other ingredients. I tried making my own using a Rice Krispy treat recipe but they just were not the same. It must be some missing secret ingredient that causes these to work because when I tried making my own I was just as hungry as I normally would be.

Yes, they are kind of expensive but you will be buying a lot less "other" food and they are way cheaper than NutriSystem would be. Plus I get to eat regular grocery store food so I don't feel like I am missing out, so there are no temptations.

I eat two Fullbars a day. One 30 minutes before lunch and also 30 minutes before dinner, each with a full glass of water. You still eat a regular meal, but much less than without eating the Fullbar. In fact, I almost force myself to eat I feel so stuffed. In two weeks of doing this, I have lost over 10 lbs.

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY good luck with these!!, February 22, 2009

I am a late 50ish woman who is very overweight, and am always, ALWAYS hungry. I'm not so obese, however, that I would ever consider surgery. I read about these bars in a womans magazine and ran right out to get them. I was extremely pleased to note how long it took to eat one. They are big! And they taste decent. They could taste even worse, and I would still be happy. I ate one a half hour before dinner, with coffee. I prepared a small dinner, hoping against hope that this would really work. To my pleasant surprise, I could only eat about 2/3rds of what I had prepared, and now over two hours later, I'm still very full. No idea if this will translate into weight loss, but I'm giving it 5 stars because it feels good not to be gnawingly hungry, even for awhile!! People who don't have this problem can't begin to understand.

One thing, though. I didn't feel full immediately. In fact, I could have happily eaten another bar immediately. It wasn't until I started dinner that I began to feel full. Then it happened very fast.

ONE WEEK UPDATE
I just couldn't be happier!! I have lost 6 pounds since I started these bars a little over a week ago. I have a WII fit, and weigh myself every day. I had been bouncing back and forth, but going nowhere for a couple months. Then suddenly, straight down every day! Both my weight and body mass. I don't really want to lose this much weight on a weekly basis, and I'm sure it will slow down, but I am so pleased, and I'm NOT HUNGRY!! Hooray!!!!!!! Like another reviewer, I also keep bars in the car. Helps when I would otherwise go buy donuts or cookies, or whatever. I could eat a half dozen donuts and still be hungry, but one fullbar and coffee seems to satisfy. As time goes on, I feel full even right after I eat the bar, which helps immensely.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sitting here in my loose work clothes! Whoo-hoo, July 16, 2009

I'm been full-baring for ten days now and am down seven pounds. I was really surprised at how well these products work. It seems to me that they do more than just fill you up. They're also supposed to help you reduce cravings. My sense is that the medical aspect of these bars is that they decompose sort of slowly in your body and keep your blood sugar relatively constant -- unlike the Fiber One bar. I'm assuming that's the medical function of the sugary coating on the puffed wheat, and why one can't just eat a bowl of puffed wheat cereal and have the same effect.

In my case, I feel pleasantly full most of the day through having one an hour before lunch and one an hour before dinner. In the beginning, I felt almost grossly overfull all the time, and had trouble even having a small dinner, but this seems to have resolved itself. Since I'm no longer starving, I no longer binge. I eat the full bar an hour before dinner and then am pleasantly full enough to plan and make a healthy dinner. I also attended a party last week where there were cheese burgers and cookies and lots of sweets and I had -- a seven up. This was a first for me, but I wasn't hungry, so I wasn't tempted.

The other thing I've noticed is that I'm losing weight without having any of those nasty ketosis-like symptoms. I don't have headaches or bad breath or that nasty feeling you sometimes have when you're losing weight. Your digestive system may seem more active than usual -- and you may be thirsty and want to drink more water, but other than that you'll feel like yourself (only thinner!).

Full bars are nowhere near as yummy as Fiber One, but they really help me manage my cravings. (Peanut butter is the best tasting, but the puffed wheat tends to taste a little soggy and stale. but I'd probably eat asbestos if it helped me this much with my weight. I'm having no problem getting past the taste.) Also, other than the peanut butter and the chocolate, the bars all kind of taste the same -- the cranberry tasted the same as the chocolate, in my opinion.

Also, I'm getting to the point where even the whole bar seems too much, so I may experiment with only having half a bar. But here's the thing -- this is the first time in my life, I've been able to stop HALFWAY THROUGH A MEAL because I realized I was full. I eat slower now, I enjoy my food more and am hopefully developing good habits. Yeah, Fullbar! I love you, Dr. whatshisname.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not my favorite flavor, July 16, 2009
By Someone's Mom (Chesapeake, VA) - See all my reviews
The full-bar weight loss principle seems to be working for me. I think of it like eating a sponge. It sits in your stomach, absorbs a ton of water, and then you're not hungry anymore. It keeps me from eating junk food in front of the TV at night, It keeps me from binging before dinner or in the later afternoon. Furthermore, I've found that once you have one in your stomach, you can just drink some more water when you get hungry and still feel full. I like the way they keep your blood sugar constant, unlike other snacks, so that you don't have those peaks and valleys that send you running for the cookies.

That said, I think the cranberry flavor tastes the same as the chocolate flavor. Both are basically a bar of slightly stale corn puffs with some kind of syrup drizzled over them. The cranberry bar has two or three cranberries in it, but all I can taste is the syrup, which tastes like chocolate to me. I'd recommend the cocoa or the peanutbutter over this flavor.

Finally, to all you naysayers -- it's not candy and it tastes a heck of a lot better than some other diet foods out there. Nutrisystem and Lean Cuisine come to mind. the point is, that for some of us at least, it's working. As I said in my other review, I'd probably eat asbestos if it worked that well. The lack of tastiness doesn't bother me at all. I've done way too much eating of tasty food over the years anyway. How the heck else do we get so fat?

If I'm not mistaken, there were a lot of "promises" made about this products' ability to help people lose weight, which is why I purchased it. The Fullbar was created by a bypass surgeon and was touted as being the next best thing to bypass surgery. It was supposed to create a sense of fullness, by drinking water with the bar about 1/2 hour before a meal, so you wouldn't eat as much.

After giving the Fullbar a try, my feeling is that any fiber bar would do pretty much the same thing. I was really looking forward to trying this product; hoping it would help me lose 10 or 15 pounds. When it came I started a trial - using it only at lunch, and doing just as the instructions stated. I felt it just didn't measure up to the claims which were made. After trying this product I tried experimenting with other bars - all of which tasted better. The Fiber One bar (which is kind of new) tasted the best. the Fullbar was dry and airy, and Fiber One bar came in 1st in all categories - taste, ease of eating with 8 oz water, ability to decrease appetite before the meal, and duration of fullness.

The Fullbar looked like a Puffed Wheat bar - it also had a very similar consistency and feel in my mouth. The fullbar looked really good - carmel and chocolate drizzled on the top - it had the look, consistency, and taste of the candy bar. It was sweet, chewy, and really yummy. The ability of the two bars to fill me up was pretty similar, and they both kept me full for about the same amount of time - about 2 hours - the Fiber One bar lasted a bit longer.

Maybe I misinterpreted the information given about the product, but what this turned out to be it seemed was a cereal-type bar which was very dry, didn't taste very good, and didn't have as much fiber as some of the newer, really yummy, fiber bars like Fiber One and Fiber Plus. They're both really yummy, but Fiber One has 9 mg of fiber. Not only that, it's really yummy and the carbs are balanced by the amount of protein...I can't remember the amount off hand.

My opinion, it's not worth the money, and it doesn't do much of anything.

I tried the cocoa crisp full bar for the first time today. I followed the directions on the package and ate one with a full glass of water about 30 minutes before the time when I usually have breakfast. I did eat less today. It has been about ten hours since I ate it and I am still not very hungry. It does not taste awful either, not great tasteing, but more than edible. Will see if it really helps with weight loss though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Full bars work!, September 8, 2009
This review is from: Full Bar (Health and Beauty)
I started using full bar about 2 weeks ago. Not only do they give you that feeling of being satisfied, they also hold off your hunger longer than if you do not have a full bar. I don't usually like diet products because most of them don't do anything that will power alone won't do, but these do keep me from going off of my diet. They satisfy my large appetite. I don't like the peanut butter flavor, but that is just my own personal taste. Keep in mind that if you want to lose weight you do actually have to take in fewer calories, but I find that the full bars keep me from having cravings and they do make me feel satisfied. You do have to drink the water for them to work. For breakfast I have a full bar and smear peanut butter on it. I don't even have to eat anything else and it holds me up until a late lunch. Without full bar I am hungry again by about 10:00 after breakfast. In 2 weeks I lost 7 pounds on full bar. The only 2 flavors I've tried are chocolate and peanut butter. I like chocolate.

...and I hope that will be appreciated by all. First, the taste is very good for a "thin" recipe that is supposed to help you to lose weight. The main ingredients of soy and wheat are well-combined for a good taste, IMHO. Second, it does what it is supposed to do: surpress appetite by eating a bar with 8 ounces of water before a meal. Third, it is low-calorie and low-fat as advertised. Very few things are these days. Enjoy! It's working for me.

I did not purchase these from Amazon, I purchased the from GNC and went on Amazon to see if they were cheaper by the case. After I get off work and on my way to the gym I am usually starving to the point I want to stop and get something tasty. The gym sells Tiger's milk bars, not very filling, these made me feel like I a had a substantial snack and was sustained a couple hours after the gym. They are not supposed to be used as a meal replacement and they are relatively low in calories compared to other bars in their category. I will be grabbing one of these before we go to dinner so I do not over-indulge.
