4.0 out of 5 stars Safe no matter the price
We have a very tight budget right now, like many of you do too. So it's good to keep in mind that all car seats have to pass the same safety inspections by the National Highway Traffic Safety Admin (google them for more car seat info). The reason all these car seats have different prices are due to comfort and style. We were not concerned about style so much, but we did...

1.0 out of 5 stars I would not recommend this Car seat
We've had this car seat for a number of months. Even though my daughter is older, she is small, so we still have her rear facing. She finds the seat comfortable enough and initially the only real issue we had was with how the seat belt gets twisted easily. Now that she is older (22 months), though, she has figured out how to push the chest clasp down (pretty easy to do...

4.0 out of 5 stars Safe no matter the price, November 3, 2009

We have a very tight budget right now, like many of you do too. So it's good to keep in mind that all car seats have to pass the same safety inspections by the National Highway Traffic Safety Admin (google them for more car seat info). The reason all these car seats have different prices are due to comfort and style. We were not concerned about style so much, but we did want our baby to be comfy in case we take long road trips. We went to Walmart and felt the padding in all the seats. We stuck our daughter in some of the seats to make sure everything lined up right with the straps. I suggest you do the same, even if you end up buying it from Amazon because it might save a few bucks.

We chose this car seat because it's cushioning is equivalent to many of the high end models. It doesn't recline, but I didn't want to pay another $50 for the model that did. My daughter's head does slump when she falls asleep, but a kid-sized neck rest mostly fixed that.

Installation was easy enough, although I'm not strong enough to pull the straps down tight (small woman). I assume this will be a similar problem with all car seats.

The straps that buckle the child in are a little odd, but if you take a good look at them before you install the car seat it all makes sense. I got used to the side tightening buckle really quickly and it doesn't bother my daughter.

It fits well in our Honda Civic and VW Jetta, although we put it to one side and can't use one of the trays (snack or cup holder) because it blocks the car door. So we left one off (my daughter doesn't know the difference). We could do without the flimsy arm rests - in fact we left them off, too.

It's tempting to buy the car seats that you can use from 0-100 lbs, but it's silly if you're planning on having multiple children. As soon as our daughter is ready for a booster seat we'll probably have her younger sibling graduating to this car seat. With that in mind, why spend a lot of money on the super fancy all-in-one models?

This is a good product for the low cost. I researched car seats before purchasing. This is the only car seat I found in the top ten that cost less than $100.00. It is very comfortable and has a cute design. The only con is the recline feature. It is not convenient to change position and there are only two recline positions, relined and straight up. This is not an issue now because my daughter still rides rear facing and the seat is tilted in a comfortable position. I did have to use a pool noodle to make the car seat level in my Pontiac torrent (For more info on using a noodle to level your convertible car seat in rear-facing position look at [...]) However, my child is very comfortable and falls asleep without her head in an awkward position. I am interested to see how the recline feature works in the forward facing position.

We preordered this car seat about 3 days before its release date. My wife did not like any of the other car seats online or in the store and wanted a car seat that our 9 month old (who is still sitting rear facing)could grow into. We have never ordered a car seat online before but was amazed at how fast the our car seat was delivered. The delivery was scheduled to arrive about 6 to 7 days after the release date, but it arrived the next day. This car seat was easy to install and is easily adjustable for even the smallest child. We couldn't have found a better deal with a more adorable pattern; we're still amazed by the price and quality!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good seat for the money, June 26, 2009
This review is from: Evenflo Tribute V Convertible Car Seat - Abby II (Baby Product)
We got these seats for my twins and we love them. My bigger twin is facing forward and my littler twin is still rear-facing and they both seem to like the chairs. We don't use the "head pillow" because my kids are too short and it bothers them, but the pillow is attached with velcro so it's very easy to put on and take off.

The chest clip is a little tricky at first but after undoing it a few times, we've gotten the hang of it. Cute prints for this seat and the "big brown plaid" seat (that we got for my son). Best seat I could find for the money. LATCH secures the seat extremely well forward-facing and well-enough for rear-facing. It took us a few adjustments to get the rear-facing to be sturdy but it works well now. Overall, I would definitely recommend this seat.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute and easy to install!, September 24, 2009

This review is from: Evenflo Tribute V Convertible Car Seat - Abby II (Baby Product)
I bought this convertible carseat out of frustration after having a horrible time trying to install my Cosco one. I had purchased an Evenflo originally for my son's first carseat, which was SUPER easy to install, I never had a problem putting it in ANY car (and we used it in 3 or 4 different ones). So, I decided to purchase another Evenflo hoping that it would be easier to install than my Cosco.

It was! The carseat is lightweight but feels sturdy, not chintzy at all. The belts are easy to adjust and the instruction manual is extremely clear and helpful (this was also a problem with the Cosco). The padding is just enough so that my son is comfortable... a lot of other carseats are very rigid and don't have enough padding in my opinion. Convertible carseats are notoriously hard to install in the rear-facing infant position, but this one was pretty painless. I used the LATCH system and I had the whole thing done in 10 minutes.

The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars was because I had to use quite a big blanket rolled up underneath the front part of the carseat so it would recline enough... that was a little time consuming because it took a bit of trial and error to get it right. However, still a great seat, for my money, Evenflo makes the best affordable carseats on the market.

5.0 out of 5 stars great seat!!, September 12, 2009
This review is from: Evenflo Tribute V Convertible Car Seat - Abby II (Baby Product)
This is a wonderful seat, got it for my daughter a few months ago. Trust the brand and life of evenflo product. we used those for my older son as well. She is able to sleep on it on long drives and loves the padded comfort it provides. The best and most economical product of its type on the market!!

This is is really nice. It is light and appears very comfortable. It fits in my car easily. This is amazing because I have a Toyota Yaris which is a tiny car. My daughter Mia seems to enjoy getting into it every time we go for a car ride.

This convertible car seat has been great as I transitioned my daughter from the infant carrier. It's easy to get her in and out of the car, and it's not too bulky so other people can still sit comfortably in the back seat with her. And I love the pink and brown!

My 16 month old granddaughter had a car seat that was too large to take on a plane to Germany. We researched small car seats and found this one. It arrived and the baby just loves it. I like the fact that it can recline. It has high side which would be great in a side impact, it's well built has lots of padding and easy to adjust the straps. We'll see if there's a problem taking it on the plane but prior reviews say this shouldn't be a problem.
