4.0 out of 5 stars great fridge
I have had this fridge for about 2 weeks now. It is very quiet! I was worried that the platinum color would not match the stainless appliances in my kitchen but it looks fine and does not leave fingerprints. I like the layout although one split shelve would have been nicer. There is room in de doors to store bottle but a little hard to store larger items on the shelves...

3.0 out of 5 stars Have Issues w/ water & ice maker
We bought this fridge/freezer in January and have been overall happy. Two issues have come up however.

First, the inside water dispenser is not as convenient as we thought it would be. You have to be careful not to spill water inside the fridge. Not a deal breaker, but if you are going to be using the water dispenser a lot, consider an exterior water...

3.0 out of 5 stars Have Issues w/ water & ice maker, May 19, 2009
This review is from: Samsung Refrigerator With French Doors, 26 Cu. Ft. Platinum - Samsung RF263ABPN (Kitchen)
We bought this fridge/freezer in January and have been overall happy. Two issues have come up however.

First, the inside water dispenser is not as convenient as we thought it would be. You have to be careful not to spill water inside the fridge. Not a deal breaker, but if you are going to be using the water dispenser a lot, consider an exterior water dispenser.

2nd, and more importantly, I believe the ice maker design is flawed and troublesome. Ours just physically broke. The ice tray is fixed to the back of the freezer while the drawer slides in/out. When the ice storage tray gets full, opening the drawer may cause ice cubes to spill under the drawer and get caught underneath. This has been happening to us. The ice under the drawer caused the drawer to lift up and catch the ice maker tray when the drawer was pulled open. This broke the ice tray. I had to cut the wire on the tray which subsequently shorted out the control panel above the fridge door. PITA!

3.0 out of 5 stars ice maker problem, September 14, 2009

The ice maker broke after one week. A cheap plastic part fell off the icemaker probably after hitting the sliding drawer and the sensor dropped down. The ice now comes out in chunks instead of individually. The repairman came out under warranty and pick it back and after it started making ice the same thing happened again. Unfortunately you need to take the drawer off to fix the problem and the cheap plastic part needs to be replaced. Others have had the same problem. The company obviously needs to come up with a fix.

I like the layout although one split shelve would have been nicer. There is room in de doors to store bottle but a little hard to store larger items on the shelves. The vegetable drawers are good and slide out easily. The freezer is spacious and also slides out nicely. I am happy with this refrigerator so far.

Quiet, attractive, platinum finish is easy to keep clean. Good lighting. Shelves are well positioned for a variety of item sizes. Everything in our fridge is now easy to find.

1.0 out of 5 stars Can't get if fixed!, April 19, 2010

Purchased this fridge through Sears the end of February 2010. Looked good at the store. However, when set up at our home the ice maker didn't dispense from the start. Called Sears service. Told them ice maker didn't work. They sent out a repairman. "Yep! Ice maker doesn't work, but I don't have a replacement icemaker. I'll have to back order it."

Ice maker is left at front door by UPS about 10 days later. Arranged second repair call. Second Sears repairman installs new ice maker unit and leaves. Ice maker still doesn't dispense. (receipt claims warranty service would have been $239 if not covered).

Called Sears service who schedule third service call. "Yep! Ice maker still doesn't dispense, but the only thing left to do is replace the mother board on the back. But I don't have one. I'll have to back order it."

Sears left an automated call yesterday April 18 to reschedule the fourth service call set for today, Monday the 19th of April. I call them and they say OK when do you want the appointment. I ask whether they have the part. They say they thought I already had it. I say no I don't. They say I shouldn't call until I do. I say how about bringing out a new fridge. They say May 8 earliest.

The one repairman observed that this is Samsung's newest model. I would wait a year or two before buying one to let them get the bugs out and at least have parts in the pipeline. As for Sears. It's just mindboggling.

4.0 out of 5 stars ice issues, August 30, 2010
This review is from: Samsung Refrigerator With French Doors, 26 Cu. Ft. Platinum - Samsung RF263ABPN (Kitchen)
I really love this fridge except it just does not make enough ice. It is ridiculous! I have quit using ice in order to allow others in my family to have some. After reading a few sites, I am worried that I will be spending lots of money fixing the thing every year (like I did on my last fridge which was an LG that only lasted four years and that was after being fixed at least four times over the four years). Why does consumer reports rate this one so high if people have problems?

3.0 out of 5 stars ice machine, July 30, 2010

I recently bought a Samsung Refrigerator with French doors. I have had a lot of trouble with it. The ice machine is barely capable of supplying ice for 2 people. I have had repairmen here 4 times. They first said it was the filter and of course that was not warrantied. Then they came and said it was not getting water. Next they came to replace a valve then decided it was the ice machine. It was replaced a few days ago and I still am not impressed with the ice machine. I also have a bare metal area on the upper door where it may have hit the edge of the wall. My old fridge was 15+ years old and did not have any bare metal. This one is only 4 months old. Oh yeah, also the filter light came on. The repairman said I should just ignore it and reset it because I have filtered city water. Not a lot of large particles in that.
The really good part of this refrigerator is the way it looks and the inside lights and the drawers. It is a really cool looking machine. Wish it worked as good as it looks
