Fun to play, but poorly made.
These drums are so much fun to play-especially with the GH: Metallica game. Unfortunately, the set is nothing more than cheap plastic and cheap electronics. My first set stopped working after 3 months. Cymbals lost almost all sensitivity. I replaced the cymbals, but then the snare drum (red pad) stopped working. I bought the GHWT full band set and those first generation drums were not of the best quality. Although they worked okay at first, they eventually stopped working properly. The bass pedal was plastic, felt flimsy and I damaged the sensor pad inside of it within 2 days. I recently bought the stand alone drums and they seem to be a little bit better. The cymbals seem to be much sturdier. All drum pads and cymbal pads are covered with a nice smooth skin that feels good and sounds a little bit quieter than the original rubber drum pad material. This drum kit is really accurate so far. Its sensitive enough and I haven't had any crosstalk issues yet (crosstalk = when you only hit the orange cymbal, the red pad also registers a hit).
My only complaint is that the same plastic crappy pedal is used in this kit. It doesn't feel too sturdy, but it has withstood a pounding by my fat and heavy size 11's. Red Octane did improve the bass pedal sensor a bit by adding the same skin material as the pads and cymbals. It looks like it is some kind of protective layer for the sensor pad underneath it. I think I am going to buy an upgraded electronic bass pedal so I can feel more comfortable bangin that thing with my fat feet. That will also give me the option to have some double bass action.
The kit comes with some cheap balsa wood drumsticks. I suggest sticking with these sticks, because heavier sticks will probably destroy this set with moderate pounding. I can bang on the set as hard as want with these sticks and because they are so light, I don't feel like I am going to break the set.
Overall, I am satisfied with this new drumset. I have had it for about a week now and it's still working well. I just hope it holds up for a while this time around.

I attributed it to me just beating them too much, and bought a new set. Well, the red pad stopped working again after 2 weeks. I exchanged it for another new set and THAT red pad stopped working. I finally took the thing apart and the wire was loose on the red pad. Relatively easy fix, but required something like 20 screws to remove to access it, not to mention that I probably voided the warranty. After doing some research, this is apparently a very common problem. Buyer beware.

They come almost completely assembled. It took me a minute or two to put everything together.
Everything is working properly, i will update if things start to break down (which i hope they wont). One little nag is that one of the drumsticks that came with it has a chipped part just around the holding area. Nothing big, but i was afraid that I'll end up with a splinter in my hand.
If drums are making too much noise for you, try putting them on the carpet. Compared to my g/f set that is on the hardwood floor, mine that are on thick carpet are making much less noise. Alternatively, you could remove the drums from their stand and position them on something soft(er).

I bought the drums since I only had the guitar and since my husband has no interest in the game I did not want to buy the full band set and have two guitars. The drums work wonderfully but I played 3 or 4 sets on the first day I had it and at the end of the last song (thankfully) one of the sticks snapped right in half. Thankfully the other half didnt go flying off but I would suggest keeping a careful eye on your sticks or they may snap like mine did.

i like the drum kit is better than rock band because this drum kit it's give another challenge because of the five pad and it's more like the real drummer, rock the drum kit it's not give u a feeling u r playing a real drummer but guitar hero drum kit it will give the feeling of real drummer at least for me.
but the sticks it's too much lighter than rock band drum stick and thats sucks because i want to feel the stick on my hand when i drum with guitar hero drum stick u can't feel the sticks in your hand at least for me then i change the sticks with rock band drum sticks and it feel much better then after one week of playing guitar hero drum with rock band sticks the red bad start not working right so i opened the red pad and i see 2 wires cut off so i mended then i change to the guitar hero drum sticks untill this day it working very fine with me.

I purchased this for my 14 year old daughter. She used to have drumming classes during her after school program when she was in 4th thru 6th grade. She really missed that. Well now she's back in her game (no pun intended)and LOVES this drum set!

Worths your money spending and your time playing, March 4, 2010

after researching reviews from users, teck sites, and stores, one thing I found bad about this set is some players got problems with the response of one pad and one symbal. after this I found this set used, and for this money, I took the bet... two months in constance use I'm still waiting for those problems, I am not sure is because is refurbish or used, but it response as it suposed to, sure I have some missed notes but I can tell its because I XXXX, I'm still need practice. Love the kit, looks like a bit small regular electronic drum kit, and feels like a electronic drum kit out of a music store. and even more love the price.
Now about my shop experience, was more than expected within 3 business days delivery, pakaging was outstanding, the description said "condition fair" others a bit more money for, describe as "as new" so I expected some scratches, notisable tear and wear, from used and abused, as long and it worked i will be happy, but to my greatest surprise when unboxed it, it was like I just got it from a new retail store.

I MUST SAY...WHEN I ORDERED THIS PRODUCT I WASNT QUITE SURE WHAT IT WOULD LOOK LIKE DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS USED, BUT I SWEAR WHEN I RECEIVED IT I THOUGHT IT WAS A MISTAKE B/C IT LOOKED BRAND NEW!!!!!!!!! THERE WAS ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. IT WAS IN "PERFECT" CONDITION. I BROUGHT IT FOR MY SON FOR HIS BIRTHDAY AND HE NEVER KNEW IT WAS A USED SET. Fragile drum set without any meaningful warranty., May 22, 2009

One of the symbols stopped working and my son no longer uses the drum set. Too bad that the only resolution to this problem is buying a new drum set. All of these products are close to being garbage.
