4.0 out of 5 stars Furreal Zambi
Zambi is adorable with her sweet noises she makes. She raises her trunk to great you and makes cute baby elephant noises. She even flaps her ears! The only downfall on the Furreal friends is they sound mechanical, and they aren't soft and cuddly like you would expect the animal to be. You can feel the hardness of the body. It is really cute though, and her noises are...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Elephant but Not That Much Fun
If you like elephants or know someone who does, this would be great, but my kids didn't get much out of this. I think it would've been better if it could walk or something. I thought it was great and the cause was really worth it, but my kids just got bored really quickly with it. I loved the cause that part of the money goes to though.

The only downfall on the Furreal friends is they sound mechanical, and they aren't soft and cuddly like you would expect the animal to be. You can feel the hardness of the body. It is really cute though, and her noises are really adorable. Cute idea. The chimp was my favorite, as my kids collect them all. The cats always shed a lot, but this elephant doesn't shed at all. Zambi moves her mouth as she makes her noises, and lifts her trunk when she trumpets her elephant noises. Cute for any elephant lover!

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Adorable, October 26, 2009

Our 4 year old absolutely loves elephants and immediately fell in love with this. It is not a plush toy and isn't meant to be. It's mechanical and has a number of different sensors that when touched (like petting it's back) will evoke a number of different reactions/sounds. Super cute but I have to say that it is way over priced on Amazon, which is frustrating because I always feel as if Amazon should have the best (if not at least the most competitive) prices. Save yourself some cash by looking for it at your local Target stores or on their website right now for $40.

My daughter loves elephants so I purchased the toy at Target two weeks ago when it was on sale for $35. My daughter is 7 so I was not sure how she would like the toy but it exceeded my expectations. This is a durable toy that is totally interactive. The baby elephant responds when you rub her back or underneath her chin. She gives kisses and her tail can curl under your finger. This is a really sweet toy but the best part is that 50% of the proceeds of the sales go to fund the Zambi Africa project. Hasbro has set up a fund to help the children orphaned by AIDS living in Zambia.

My daughter loves the elephant--I highly recommend this toy.

My 18 month old plays with this toy endlessly.
You can touch certain spots and she make certain elephant noises
Think of an tickle me elmo as an elephant - although this one is so much less annoying then elmo voice :)
Love this elephant

cute alternative to the stuffed animal. my daughter likes it. It does make mechanical like sounds and is kinda hard, but I have purchased Furreal friends in the past and knew this when i bought it. Cute elephant. She has fun with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zambi review, July 18, 2010

I purchased this elephant for my granddaughter who is 2 yrs. old. The toy is recommended for 4 yrs. and up. She is kind of rough on her toys, so her mom has put it in a safe place that is out of her reach. She can have Zambi under supervised play time. Kind of like a divorced parent going to see their child(ren).

The toy is made by Habro. The toy is very well made - high quality. The replication of sounds is excellent. It is not a plush toy, but the outside material is very soft. It has a hard plastic box inside of it which produces the sounds. Also, Habro makes a donation to a children's fund for the purchase of the elephant.

Amazon had the cheapest price even with the shipping. I highly recommend this item and would purchase it again and most of all, my granddaughter loves her baby elephant.

Our now 3 yr. old daughter gave this to her Mother for her Mothers birthday -- she thought Mother would REALLY love "Ellie" as it is now known here in our house hold. Well Mother loved it, and our daughter was thrilled with the gift she picked out. Ellie is as real as a toy can be - the sounds are cute, the movement is sweet. I wish the price was at 14.00 bucks when we picked it up the first of the year -- it was down to 25.00 from the 45 it was before Christmas. Yes - if you want a cute movable toy elephant THIS IS THE ONE --- if you want a snuggely stuffed animal, don't but "Ellie" ----- For us, shes a keeper!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good toy, but are they making any money to send to African children?, January 30, 2010

It's a nice toy to scare the cat with, but this thing is $5 at Target. This elephant must have cost $5 or more to make. If Hasbro doesn't make any money off this elephant, are they still sending any money to African children?

The Zambi is a funny and wonderful toy! It actually giggles when you tickle it under the chin - plus, plus, plus, Hasbro is donating 50% of the profit to fund work in Africa for widows and orphans living with HIV/AIDS. What a great gift!

Item was received within a few days of ordering. I had purchased one of these products at a retail store as a gift and it was so well liked that I wanted another one. The retail store no longer had any, so I purchased it through Amazon. A very cute toy and also a learning tool for my classroom.
