Great wands. They kill mold too
We got these wands and wanted to test them out someway because it's hard to see something work that is supposed to get rid of what you can't see.
We read that the UV lights are supposed to kill mold, so we put the light right over some mold in the shower and left it there. This is a littlbe bit of mold that we've tried to get off for a long time...

It works - but beware!
First, I'd like to say that the Sanitizing Light Wands DO work - slowly. However, there is a caveat with the small "travel wand." It eats batteries! Yep - put in a new set and just let it sit for a couple weeks or so without even using it, and the batteries are dead! I finally called Verilux, and was told that there should have been a sticker on the travel wand, alerting...

Great wands. They kill mold too, February 25, 2009
This review is from: Verilux CleanWave UV-C Sanitizing Wand and Sanitizing Travel Wand - 2 Pcs (Health and Beauty)
We got these wands and wanted to test them out someway because it's hard to see something work that is supposed to get rid of what you can't see.
We read that the UV lights are supposed to kill mold, so we put the light right over some mold in the shower and left it there. This is a littlbe bit of mold that we've tried to get off for a long time.
We came back and scrubbed the mold the next day (forgot to do it the same day), and the mold came right off.
I heard New York is using UV light to sanitize water, and I know some pools are using it too. I've also seen a cool gadget for hikers that kills bacteria/viruses in drinking water using UV light. So, even though I really can't "see" it working, I think it does help especially for computer keyboards, phones, etc.

Pain to use. I think it works tho, February 26, 2010
This review is from: Verilux CleanWave UV-C Sanitizing Wand and Sanitizing Travel Wand - 2 Pcs (Health and Beauty)
As other reviewers have mentioned this can be a big pain in the tookus to use. I did spend the LONNNNNNNNNNG time going over my mattress with it and noticed a marked improvement in my asthma. I would not use this for hard surfaces tho. It's perfectly safe and everything, but I have a life to lead. I'm glad to have it on hand so I can disinfect soft surfaces or things like that, but really - if you have a family (which I don't) and a sick or vulnerable person in it.... you probably have more to do than passing this wand verrrrrrrrrry slowly over everything you own.
I am really glad I got it for the bedding tho. My sinuses are much better for sure. When you sleep you are at your most vulnerable to your allergies and asthma. But make no mistake, you are going to be stood holding this thing over your bed for a WHILE.

It works - but beware!, May 5, 2010

First, I'd like to say that the Sanitizing Light Wands DO work - slowly. However, there is a caveat with the small "travel wand." It eats batteries! Yep - put in a new set and just let it sit for a couple weeks or so without even using it, and the batteries are dead! I finally called Verilux, and was told that there should have been a sticker on the travel wand, alerting me to the fact that the unit is always on "stand-by" mode, and thus slowly drains the batteries, even if it isn't being used. Bummer! Buyer beware. . .we bought a deGERM-inator light from Spectroline. It is both stronger and longer-lasting, even if more expensive.

Excellent Quality, March 27, 2009
This review is from: Verilux CleanWave UV-C Sanitizing Wand and Sanitizing Travel Wand - 2 Pcs (Health and Beauty)
Amazing product. Easy to use. 1000's of places in the home to disinfect from toilet bowls to bedding to the bottoms of your shoes. I purchased one for myself several months ago and use it. I decided it would make a great gift for someone, so I gave it to my son-in-law for his birthday and he loves it. This seller is excellent and fast shipping too. Highly recommended!

Best Product, March 25, 2009
This review is from: Verilux CleanWave UV-C Sanitizing Wand and Sanitizing Travel Wand - 2 Pcs (Health and Beauty)
I saw this great product being discussed on the Internet. It gives you a great sense of security knowing that with just a swipe of the wand you can kill up to 99% of many germs. There are several safety features such as holding the on button down for 3 seconds until it blinks then hit it again to ensure kids don't turn it on. I plan on giving these as gifts to many of my friends. It is small and packaged in a very beautiful way.

Don't waste your money--no effect on mold, April 6, 2009
This review is from: Verilux CleanWave UV-C Sanitizing Wand and Sanitizing Travel Wand - 2 Pcs (Health and Beauty)
I really wanted to like this product. The theory is good and I thought it would help give me a cleaner and more dust mite-free house. Unfortunately, it has no effect on mold. I certainly now doubt its effectiveness on the other things it's touted to kill--dust mites and viruses. Since I can't really test its effectiveness on dust mites and viruses, I thought I could at least do my own simple test to see what effect it had on mold. Mold was one example, even on the manufacturer's website, of something this product would kill. I took two small glass bowls and filled each one with a small amount of orange juice. I then exposed one of the bowls with the UV-C light for more than five minutes (I placed the light on top of the bowl and let it shine down on the orange juice at a distance of about one inch for the five minutes, turning the bowl about halfway through to enhance the exposure). The unexposed bowl was the control. After a couple of days, mold grew in both bowls, the same amount of mold in each bowl. Thinking that maybe the mold arrived in the bowls after the first UV-C light exposure, I then exposed the first bowl again with the UV-C light for about 6-7 minutes (same method). This should test whether the UV-C light would kill the existing mold. If there was no further mold growth in the first bowl, then I would believe that the thing worked (i.e., killed mold). But again, after another almost two days, it had no effect. The mold continued to grow equally in both bowls. Whether or not my test method was optimum, these things should have had at least some effect on the mold, especially the second lengthy exposure to the existing mold. These things are too expensive to keep on the hope that they have some effect on dust mites and viruses when they have no effect on mold as advertised, so I returned them.

Not worth the money, April 19, 2010
This review is from: Verilux CleanWave UV-C Sanitizing Wand and Sanitizing Travel Wand - 2 Pcs (Health and Beauty)
I purchased this product and was pretty disappointed. I believe that it makes a difference but this product is not worth the money. It turns off every time you turn it sideways. If you decide to get one, get a $20 one from Walgreens.

A waste of money & time!!!, March 24, 2010
This review is from: Verilux CleanWave UV-C Sanitizing Wand and Sanitizing Travel Wand - 2 Pcs (Health and Beauty)
In short, this wand is the biggest piece of junk. I purchased the larger model, and it does not work like it claims to do. I am not really sure if the previous reviews were fictiously created, or those people do not know what they are doing, but this machine is worthless.
Dear Verilux - I want my $75 back and my gas money because you wasted my time driving to the store to purchase this piece of junk!!! :0/
