Be sure to budget for expensive repairs
The downside of Amazon.com reviews is that they deal with delivery, setup, and performance--but not long-term reliability. I own last year's version of this unit--the LN-T4669F. And if you look up my review there, I say I love it. And well I should say so. Just like the current model, the performance--and bang for the buck--are great.

Yes, 630 has 80000:1 vs 100000:1 for 650 and I did notice the slight difference in contrast. I am yet to tweak picture settings. I got this from Vanns for $1530, got it in 5 days with free shipping and free wall mount.

After having spent several months researching, considering options, & agonizing over choices, I am completely happy with this TV - can actually say, `I love it!' Therefore, for the first time ever, I'm providing a customer review:
Picture quality:
SD very good & much better than expected; HD quality terrific.
Better than what I expected based on the display loops they run at Best Buy. Motion flow produces very smooth picture.
DVD quality:
Terrific; better than expected. (Don't have Blu-ray)
Matte screen:
My room is very bright. Samsung's ultra-clear panel on the 650 model is as shiny & reflective as glass - like looking in a mirror. The 630's matte screen is perfect for my needs, yet I'm still getting a very clear picture with great contrast ratio. I only knew this model existed by reading customer comments at Amazon, as Samsung doesn't appear to promote this model.
Settings:
TV has lots of options for picture & sound settings. Easy to adjust, test, play around with.
Connection to Cable Box/DVR:
To be able to use my cable DVR remote with the TV, I had to call the cable company to get the volume control to work - just needed a special code.
Sound:
OK; better than expected.
Set aesthetics:
Attractive. Originally nervous about the red Touch of Color - but it is very subtle; looks more brown/burgundy. Does NOT look like the bright red stripe that is pictured in Amazon's product info.
Amazon `Enhanced Delivery':
Very good. Delivery by CEVA was on-time. Team of two guys took their shoes off at the door without being asked, unpacked the TV, mounted it on the stand, placed it on my TV console, & hooked up connections to cable.
Warranty:
Set comes with standard one-year warranty from Samsung. But, for peace of mind, I added an additional two-year warranty (for a total of 3-yrs coverage) offered by Square Trade for Amazon customers for just an extra $99. This Amazon/SquareTrade package is a much better extended warranty deal than I could have gotten from other retail or online sellers.

I decided to buy this TV after doing about 3 months of research. Initially I was ready to buy LED TV(which was additional $1000), but settled on this. The TV came in 2 DAYS!!! with the Free shipping.. I've been using this TV for the past 4 days, so far I love it. picture is probably the best on this tv. I have fios, which is great on this TV. I have this in my living room which has a lot of windows, it works great there. The audio i was a bit disappointing, but who cares, I'll be plugging this into my receiver. For this price you cannot beat it..far better than SONY (non led), and SHARP.
Pros:
-Great picture,
-Great contrast, color,
-HDMI connections.
-Ethernet plug in for the Info Link and updating Firmware
-USB HDD/Flash plug in for playing photos, movies (havent tried this yet)
-Great Remote
-User Interface is great
-Lighter (40 lbs)
-One man installation
Cons:
-Speakers are sub par, you def need to hook up to home theater.

Well, so far - so good.
Just received the TV this afternoon, and setup was a snap. HDMI inputs are plentiful (three on the back, one on the side), and fortunately there are also inputs for Composite (two, both on the back), and an old-style RCA video input (also on the side). The set also allows for connections of USB, PC-out, digital audio optical input. You can also hook the set up to your LAN with a standard Ethernet connector (sorry kids, no WiFi yet).
**EDIT: Ok, let me clarify something here. The set WILL support WiFi with the appropriate USB adapter (direct link:Samsung WIS09ABGN LinkStick Wireless LAN Adapter), but since it's not included with the set as-is, hence the above comment about WiFi. END EDIT**
The stand assembly was simple (8 screws and done). The stand also rotates slightly (20 degrees left/right off center), which while not uncommon, is a plus. Also worth mentioning, the stand also incorporates Samsung's "Touch of Color" so the front bezel has a light red stripe, co conform with the same stripe on the bezel of the TV. I'm honestly not sure what the point of the "Touch of Color" is, but if nothing else, it makes the TV easier to find in the dark (sarcasm is like a second language to me, by the way). I mention the stand only because I originally planned to put the set on a console-style table, until I found my old wall-mount (see below for more on that).
Speaking of finding things in the dark however, I must also mention that the remote for the TV, while not appearing to be able to be able to control other devices (standard fast-forward, pause, etc... style buttons at the bottom of the remote are used to control slideshows, etc) all of the buttons are back-lit, with a highlighted "on/off" button. This IS a thoughtful idea, and one that I wish many more TV designers will implement.
Thus far the set has performed admirably, HDMI output from my cable provider is clear and sharp. A few simple adjustments to adjust the set for my specific room (and my particular taste) conditions, and everything is gorgeous. I also have tried out an older (non-upconverting) DVD player via Component inputs as well, and "Fringe" looks damn-near perfect.
Sound however is another matter. There's really only SO much you can do with two speakers, and Samsung has done a VERY good job with adjustments and whatnot, but let's face it - if you're buying a 46-inch TV, you probably already have a MUCH better stereo ready to roll. If not - well, this would be the ONLY caveat emptor I would point out (and it's STILL not a big enough deal to make me reduce my 5-star rating either, so there).
Ok, one note worth mentioning here, as I had to play "find the correct-sized bolt" to use my old wall-mount: The bolts you will need are standard 8-mm x 25-mm sizes that will easily screw into the back of the set.
One more item - make all your back-side connections before you hang the set. This may sounds like a "DUH" suggestion, but trust me from experience, you tend to get excited and forget to think EVERYTHING through when setting something like this up for the first time.
I must also commend the delivery company (CEVA) as they were courteous, friendly and helpful. They didn't offer to set the set up, but they did carry the set through the house, and placed it (VERY carefully) in the room in which it was to be set up in.
For the money, I really have to say this is one of the most impressive TV sets I've bought. Excellent image quality, decent (for a TV) sound, and extraordinarily intuitive and simple setup process.
If I have any further insights as I move through my ownership journey, I'll be sure to add them here.
Thanks for reading.

I purchased the LN46B630 through Amazon's Warehouse Deals as an open box item. The item description was "Minor cosmetic damage to housing." So when I received the item I went over the set with great detail. It appeared as though someone purchased it, received it, opened the manual, and decided to return it. There was NO damage whatsoever to the housing. After researching extensively I found a calibration setting that many were praising for the 650 series and decided to apply it to the 630. Needless to say I was astounded. Every component I had up until this purchase was begging for high definition, so I was forced to oblige. Taking the 20,000:1 cut from the 650 was easy to deal with after seeing the complete lack of glare that the matte screen offers. As referenced by a previous reviewer, the frame indicates the glare that would have been with the gloss screen of the 650. I have a PS3 connected via HDMI and the first thing I did was put in Dark Knight on Blu-Ray. I was blown away by the performance. No regrets whatsoever with this decision. I would recommend the 630 to anyone slightly worried about glare issues. I'm happy to answer any questions anyone may have.

Out-of-this-world Picture... Amazing.
It's that simple. I am a tech junkie, and have installed numerous TV's in the past for others. I was ready to upgrade my plasma, as it seemed to be getting long in the tooth. I went to several places, watched the TV's and then starting narrowing them down. I finally edged it to the Sony Bravia, Toshiba Regza, and this model. I kept coming back to the Samsung. Not only is it aesthetically more pleasing just sitting there (which is a plus for the wives) the picture was stunning. Samsung higher-end LCD's have a vivid 3D quality to them not found in other LCD panels. I can't explain it, I just know I, and everyone else looking at them, saw it and was convinced it was the best LCD for the money. Almost, almost, as good as the LED panels.
I brought it home, hooked up the Blu-Ray, popped in Ratatouille and WOW. Even my wife, who could care less, could see the difference. My seven year old was blown away too! It brought the movie to life. I then popped in U-571 to see some natural action and again I was overwhelmed with the picture. It looked like you were live, right there. Then my son wanted to test out the XBOX 360 with Madden 2010. WOW, AGAIN! We couldn't believe how good the game looked.
Well, after he went to bed I flipped on CBS HD to watch The Good Wife. A simple one-hour drama in HD, but WOW again, it looked almost as good, and life-like, as the blu-ray of U-571. I flipped to other channels in HD and I couldn't believe how great it looked over my plasma and I know over many of the other TV's in the store that I was comparing it too.
I am convinced I bought the right TV, and the bonus is it looks good too. It has a glass stand, elegant look with the slight rose color, and swivels on it's base, which most other TV's did not. All in all, this is a TV worth considering if you are around the $1100-$1300 mark, and I would really look at this before I dropped another $1,000 on LED. I don't believe you will regret your decision. Pop your first Blu-Ray in, and you will destroy the box, never to take the TV out of your house and back to the store.

I've had this TV for about 4 months now and am VERY happy with my purchase. I love the matte screen, which is the main reason I chose this model over other comparable Samsung 46" LCDs. I have HD cable, blu-ray player, Onkyo SR-507 Receiver with 5.1 surround sound, all set up with HDMI cables (purchased thru Amazon at very low prices). Since I'm using surround sound (SS), I can't comment on the TV speakers (SS highly recommended!). I found the factory settings to produce a somewhat surreal picture so, after creating my custom settings, the picture is AMAZING [especially great for Blu-Ray, DVD (HD upconversion with blu-ray player) and HD Cable channels], which are as follows:
Backlight - 7
Contrast - 100
Brightness - 47
Sharpness - 20
Color - 50
Tint (G/R) - G49/R51
Advanced Settings:
Black Tone - Off
Dynamic Contrast - Off
Gamma - 0
Color Space - Auto
White Balance:
R-Offset - 23
G-Offset - 24
B-Offset - 25
R-Gain - 27
G-Gain - 23
B-Gain - 15
Flesh Tone - 0
Edge Enhancement - Off
Picture Options:
Color Tone - Warm2
Size - varies depending on source but, normally 16:9
Digital NR - Auto
HDMI Black Level - Low
Blue Only Mode - Off
Auto Motion Plus 120hz: Blur Reduction - 10 Judder Reduction - 4
UPDATE 05/01/2010: I've now had this TV for 10 months and I LOVE it just as much as when I first got it. If you're considering this TV, BUY IT!!! I'm writing this update for 2 reasons for anyone who purchases this TV:
1) I got an extension of 3 months on the warranty by registering my TV online on Samsung's website. I'm not sure if they are still offering the extension, but it's worth checking out.
2) I tried finding a screen cleaning product and finally bought 1...those products are junk, leaving a film and streaks on the screen! I had searched Samsung's website in the past for recommended cleaning methods, but didn't find it until a few weeks ago. Here's what MrSamsung says...
"Although there are a number of cleaning products on the market that say they are "Safe" for LCD/Plasma panel usage, I recommend just using plain old purified water without any minerals and a non-abrasive cloth. Purified water without minerals will also prevent any mineral deposits to collect on the screen. -MrSamsung".
Purified water without minerals is just distilled water. This is MUCH cheaper than those crappy products Monster and other companies are selling. Using a microfiber cloth & distilled water removed the film/streaks left by the so-called 'cleaner'!!!

But. After owning it a year and a half the power supply went zzzzzt! and now, $350 and two weeks in the shop later, it's as good as new. Of course it was out of warranty, and Samsung said I'm on my own.
To be fair to Samsung, the local service guy (who has great ratings, dramatically unlike Samsung's recommended shop in my area) says that these big screen TVs are not as reliable as our old CRT TVs were. Less mature technology, he says. And he said Samsung isn't less reliable than other mainstream LCD TVs. Also that the Japanese manufacturers' units have gotten less reliable overall, as units from other countries have gotten better. Also, though I live in a very mild climate, I did run my TV for many, many hours.
So my point is that you should be prepared for occasional trips to the repair shop.
But another but: We've now bought two Samsung devices, and both have shown reliability problems. The other one was a DVD recorder (DVD-VR357), which was flakey and got flakier by the month. We replaced it with a Toshiba DVD recorder, which has been 100% reliable during long, hard usage, as have been several Toshiba laptops. So maybe our 46" Samsung TV is no worse than other flat screen units, maybe it is. I don't know. But the next time we get a flat screen I plan to think long and hard about a Toshiba. And also to dig around more for reliability ratings, such as the ones Consumer Reports publishes.
I might also consider one of those extended warranties, though most consumer advocates say they're a ripoff for most products. But maybe not for flat screen TVs?

Let me begin by saying that this is my first experience with HDTV. The TV this replaces is an old tube TV that measured, I think 25 inches. So this is such a huge upgrade and I have little to compare it against. First off, I commend Amazon and their arrangement with Pilot. This company contacted me quickly and wanted to deliver in one day. Unfortunately, we were having company, so I arranged to have it delivered the day after the estimated delivery date. No problem. Box in great shape, not a nick.
I immediately began to set up the TV and truly, it was a snap. The connections are logical and well laid out. There are numerous rear connections, and a full set of connections on the side for devices you don't always have connected. I can't imagine needing more connections than are available here.
The set is very well thought out, with a great solid swiveling base (and VESA compatible rear mount area), cord keeper in the rear of the set, a good solid remote (it is lit, well laid out, with largish solid buttons). The viewing angle seems quite good to me, and I realize that this has been a problem with LCD sets in the past. The set is also already in the Logitech Harmony remote database. Excellent!
I have used the set with a variety of input: HD cable stations (great); regular cable stations (okay); regular DVD (great); and laptop (great). I am stunned at the picture quality. Great detail rendered, beautiful color, and a variety of screen modes (16:9: 4-3, screen fit, etc) so you can scroll through them to see which is best. I keep calling my wife: "Hey come and see this, you'll not believe it." It is a huge - gigantic - qualitative leap forward from what I had previously. I knew that this would be the case, but did not expect to be so floored by it. This model's screen is not super glossy like some sets so it does not reflect room light sources as much. I really like that kind of finish over the glossy screen types.
I find the menu system to be completely intuitive. In fact for each menu choice, there is text on the bottom of the screen that explains what you are changing. Very helpful. There are also basic controls on the front of the set, but I find them next to impossible to see and use. But they are there (It took me a week or so to find them, REALLY!!!). The manual itself is pretty helpful, though there are some functions that are rather cryptically described (e.g. picture in picture) The set is also very attractive. The touch of red is very subtle. Way more so than images at Amazon or the Samsung site would lead you to believe.

I bought this TV in July 2nd 2009 and it was delivered within just a few days. The quality of this TV exceeded my expectations, especialy the quality of the HD as well as the features, functionalities, look & feel. The only caveat is that after 3 weeks of owning this TV all of a sudden 3 of the 4 HDMI jacks stopped working (I was getting a "no signal" message when plugging any device) - I called Amazon and Samsung who scheduled an appointment with a technician right away. Yesterday the technician came over and replaced the broken input jacks and now all is back to normal. One great thing about Samsung (and this was not the first time I was calling them) is their customer service - it's prompt and very helpful, and that I believe is extremely important when investing so much money in a product. My only hope is that the input jacks problem doesn't come back.
