Wonderful TV
I am so happy that I bought this TV because it is just outstanding. I did a lot of research on numerous TV's and was not totally satisfied until I saw this Panasonic Viera S1. I was planning on buying a TV with 120 Hz but the S1 handled fast motion very well. To summarize, here are the pro's and con's.

It's An Okay TV at a Good Price
I bought the Panasonic 37in TV in July. I also bought a Samsung 46in 650 back around last Christmas. I think if I had never bought the Samsung, I might have liked the Panasonic. But quite frankly, the Panasonic pales in comparison. I think my title sums it up for me. The Panasonic blacks are not that dark and the picture is not near as crisp or stunning as I had hoped...

Pro:
Horizontal viewing angle
Great standard def. compared to other LCD. Amazing high def.
Blacks comprable to Samsung unless really off angle
Clarity/sharpness
Vivid colors
Thin attractive bezel
Built quality of TV and remote
Motion Focus technology
Price
Cons:
Blacks wash out if extremely off angle vertically (probably >150 degrees)
No fine control of colors
Largest size is 37 inches
If you are in the market for a TV this size, buy this thing and you will not regret it. I feel like I stole this TV from Panasonic because I bought it for $699. It outperforms a lot of LCD's that are $300-$500 more expensive. There is not another LCD out there in this price range that packs this much punch period!

Bought this TV based on my great experience with my Pany 58" plasma. Not many reviews on the S1 as of yet, however, older model Pany LCD's had good reviews. This was the 4th tv that I purchased for the family room, which included a Toshiba 40" lcd (not Regza), a Vizio 32 lcd and a Vizio 32 plasma. The first 3 were returned and this one is a keeper.
As expected, set up was a breeze and it mounted to my articulating wall mount without a hitch. Picture settings had to be tweaked to get the proper flesh tones, but in a few minutes it looked great. Of course, I like to tinker with all of the setting in order to get familiar with the tv. Overall, picture looks great. Sound on this tv is very good. Need to adjust the settings to increase treble and base, and also to turn on the surround. Definitely fills the room with full clear sound.
The tv is in a bright room and there can be minor glare depending on the time of day and viewing angle. Putting the picture in vivid mode takes care of any glare issues. Actually, it really is not a problem (as compared with the Vizio plasma that I returned) Not that I bash Vizio because I have 3 of them and am basically very pleased with their performance.
The only disappointment was the remote. I was hoping that it would be the same as with my plasma, however, it does not have the same solid feel. For some reason, they took a nicely fitted convex backed remote and gave it two concave sections that just don't feel right. Also, they switched the volume and channel buttons which ia pain after you get used to it being the "correct way" on the plasma remote. I must add, however, that the remote is far superior to the junk that you get with many brands of TV. Vizio used to put out a great remote, however, the later models sure dumbed it down. Can't say much good about the Toshiba remotes either.
All in all, the Pany S1 is a keeper. My search for the right tv is finally over. Turned out that I got a great price and fantastic delivery with Amazon affiliate 6th Ave Electronics. Delivery in two days and price of $707 w/free shipping. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a 37" lcd.

I spent a lot of time deliberating over whether to buy this TV. Since it costs $100-200 less than comparable TVs from Samsung, Sony, and Sharp, I thought there must be a catch. Eventually I decided to take the risk and purchased it, and I am very happy. The picture is outstanding - I have absolutely no complaints about this TV. It looks at least as good, if not better, than any other HDTV I've seen. I would recommend it to anyone.

The 37" set is ideal for a small den or living room. It does not dominate the room until the set is turned on and its unbelievably clear picture makes you feel there's a window on the world. It exceeds the performance of our plasma 41" Panasonic, which itself is above average.
The sound is excellent as are all controls. Extremely pleased with this set.

This purchase was my third attempt to find a tv for my bedroom. My first thought was to get something inexpensive so I tried a Sceptre had to return it because it did not work. My next tv was the 37" Toshiba. The picture was ok until I had it calibarated then it was not so good. I returned that and decided that I would go with quality. I looked at Samsung first because I own a 46" but the cost was over $1000 the same for a Sony that was a 1080p. No one had the Panasonic on display to view nor could I find any riews for it but because of the quality of their Plasma TV I decided to give the LCD a try. When I first received the Panasonic I had it hooked up to Standard Def and the picture quality was just so so. I now have it hooked up to HD Sat and the picture is great it was a little bright but great. I find the colors to be very stunning. The blacks are truly black not just dark grey. For those looking for a great TV at a great price look no further. I own the equipment to calibrate my TV's and will be calibrating it soon.

everyone should buy this tv. by far this tv has the best picture i have seen in a 37" television. This is my very first lcd television so i may not be the most experianced with these types of tv's but i did my homework and went to every possible electronics store. Panasonic has the best picture(comparing to all the top brands) and the best price, it is still hard for me to believe i got this television for under eight hundred dollars. Amazon easily saved me hundreds of dollars by buying through them, if you are thinking about buying this television just buy it already. DON'T HESITATE BUY IT!

Again, a good TV, but I am still little disappointed. If you haven't bought a TV yet, I would shell out the extra money and buy the Samsung 37in equivalent.

I've had this tv for almost two weeks now and have not had any problems with it so far. the picture quality is outstanding when it is connected to hi-def tv channels. standard-definition channels also look great on this television. the tv does have some glare in rooms with windows but does'nt seem to be very problematic at all so don't let that be a reason not to buy it. I have my xbox 360 connected to the tv via hdmi and all games I've played on it look really good. the television has great sound quality so that makes it even more ideal for playing video games as well. if you are looking for a great budget hdtv for playing video games and watching movies in high definition then you should look no further than this panasonic TC -L37S1 HDTV and get one ASAP!

I got this TV specifically for gaming and there is no motion blur that I noticed. That's pretty much all I was concerned with and this TV performs great. The PS3 with an HDMI cable is positively breathtaking, the 360 with the standard component cables is equally gorgeous and the Wii at least looks a little better although the high def really shows off the system's limitations.
As a note for Wii owners, you may need to use the "JUST" format for some Wii games rather then the "FULL" to make them look better.
I'm also finding the volume a problem as mentioned in the 32" model reviews. I'm in a very tiny room but to watch a movie I have to crank the volume setting up to the 90's. Video games are a different story; they're adequately heard in the 20's.
Also, be sure to turn off the AI Color option ( I believe that's what it was called); it's horribly annoying as it makes the screen dim and brighten constantly.
