I grew up on K'Nex. I'm a 23 year old male. I have two little sisters. One's a snob-nosed, arrogant high school senior (I still love her), the other's a sweet, 8-year-old. Nevertheless, the latter plays too many video games, in my opinion.
So I thought of ways to stop that. I hid the controls. She found them. I took away the cable. She complained, but I still kept it away. But I've been thinking for some time of getting her some creativity and educational toys that she can spend hours and hours with. I rummaged through my old toys and found my big ol' K'Nex box. Floods of memories and nostalgia inundated my psyche, and I hoped she would spend countless hours of pure imagination and fun with them as I did. Suffice to say, she played with them for a mere week. Looks like I had lost quite a few pieces over the years; she was limited with the amount she could build and grew bored.

I wasn't too much of a LEGO fan growing up, but I thought I'd give 'em a try. Her birthday came and went, and she's still playing with this set.
Success!
The pink box is a great way to get little girls started with the vast world of LEGOs. Be aware, though: the box isn't filled to the top with the little bricks. I'd say it's only filled about halfway, but that's fair enough in that it leaves room to store more LEGOs in the future.
There are a variety of pieces that come with this set, including a minifigure, a miniature base, garden pieces, a horse, and pieces to form a basic vehicle and house. It's a little household set, if you will.
Furthermore, since this set is geared toward girls, the colors lean to brighter, spring hues.

She hasn't really mentioned video games since getting this set, and even though the structures don't take too much time to build, she spent hours after her initial construction taking them down, and rebuilding several other, imaginative devices of her own.
I'm glad she likes them--that makes me happy. After having a couple friends over, she came down with her LEGO set and started playing in the vicinity. My mates immediately exclaimed "LEGOs!" and began reminiscing of their days rife with the little plastic bricks.

Maybe she wouldn't mind getting some more sets in future Christmases and birthdays, expanding her range of creativity and building. But I sure am glad she likes 'em!

This was a gift for my daughter's fourth birthday. The box of LEGOs comes with loads of basic building blocks plus a horse, person, wheels, and several other components to build cars, houses, flowers, etc. There is also an instruction booklet to help your child get building. Even my daughter can look at the pictures and figure out what pieces she needs although she may not always get them put together correctly. There is one flat, building platform included but I think LEGO should have included a couple more of the building platforms. I really like that the lid snaps closed as there are a lot of small pieces that can easily spill everywhere if the box is knocked over. This is a great gift to get your child's imagination going and to foster creativity. At first, she didn't really know where to start as there are so many pieces but we sat down and started building and now she can build tons of things on her own. She will pull the box out on her own (without any suggestion on my part) and get to work. She delights in showing me what she has made. Overall, I think this is a basic, great gift that will help your child develop her spatial concepts and a further understanding of how the concepts of symmetry and gravity work (e.g., a table needs 4 legs to stay standing, a house needs 4 walls to build a roof across the top, etc.). If anything, it will augment your child's fine motor skill coordination. Overall, this is a winner toy.

There is nothing like seeing your kids busily playing with lego!
I highly recommend this toy. My girls play with the other lego sets but they loved the little female touches on this one- "lights" that can be used as a "chandelier" or an outside lamp post, why they made a restaurant out of theirs, creating a buffet area, kitchen, dining area using their imagination and the legos creatively! Wonderful toy!

Looks like I had lost quite a few pieces over the years, so she was limited with the amount of objects she could actually construct. Plus, the instructions were missing.

I wasn't too much of a LEGO fan growing up, but I thought I'd give 'em a try. Her birthday came and went, and she's still playing with this set.
Success!

The actual bucket for this set is quite large compared to the amount of LEGOs you get, but that's probably to contain more pieces in the future. All in all, it's a great set to get little girls started on the Danish construction blocks.
Furthermore, she hasn't really mentioned video games as of late, and even though the structures don't take too much time to build, she spends hours thereafter breaking them down, and rebuilding several other, imaginative devices of her own.

I'm glad she likes them; that makes me happy. When I had some friends over, she came down with her LEGO set and started playing in the vicinity. My mates immediately exclaimed "LEGOs!" and began reminiscing of their days rife with the little plastic bricks.
And just the other day she showed me some of her own creations. Of course, me being the big brother, said I was going to rampage her models. "No! I worked really, really hard on them. It took me a while to figure them out, but I got it."
A warm smile spread across my face, and I spared her toys--for now!

I purchased these legos for my three year old. She is a little too young and needs a lot of help. The pieces are very easy to lose. I think she will get more use out of this toy when she is older. Her father and I have enjoyed putting it together.

I got this Lego set for my 3 year old daughter for Christmas. It is a great product. My my 3 year old abosulately loves it. Also my twelve year old, my husband and I all love it. We spent hours in the game room every day since Christmas playing with it as a family. Today we got my older daughter another set so we can have enough pieces for everybody.

LEGO is a valuable toy for the entertainment of children and adults too. Putting the parts together and making a recognizable item is gratifying, especially to an elementary-age child. Being able to read the directions and/or follow the pictures and completing a project is good practice for life when we all have to study an instruction book/paper and get something assembled. LEGO has been aimed at boys for years, but it is time the sets were designed and marketed for girls.

This set was a birthday present for my 8 yo daughter and she just loves it! The pink bricks are so cute. She loves making the houses, car, etc. pictures from the instruction book. We combined this set with the boy box set similar to this, she and her brother love playing with these legos. Lots of tiny pieces, but so much fun! The storage box is really nice, I would definately recommend.
