5.0 out of 5 stars Frogtastic! *but you have to pay shipping for the frog*
Call me a nerd but there is nothing cooler than seeing your pet frog hanging out with yoda in the swamps of Dagobah. The little hut provides a great place for the frog to chill out, we have small kids so the frog escapes to the hut when there is too much going on outside his tank. There is a good amount of dry and wet area and the frog seems very content. The graphics...

3.0 out of 5 stars plan on spending an additional $10 to $15 on tadpoles.
It's really just a plastic box with graphics taped on and a couple tank decorations. You still have to go out and buy the tadpoles, or get your "free" ones from them, but you have to pay shipping that costs as much as buying them at a fish store; then you have to get information on how to care for them and feed them, since it isn't included. I was disappointed. I had...

The graphics combined with the molded land, hut and Yoda figure really does look fantastic, making it the best looking critter tank I've ever seen.

Big drawback... on top of the expense of the habitat you still have to pay shipping for a tadpole... I was a bit outraged by this as it wasn't made clear in the product description. We decided to hit the local pet store instead as it was cheaper than paying the shipping.

I was disappointed. I had purchased it for a gift, but when I saw what it was, I was embarrassed to give it as a gift and kept it for my grandson.

Got this too for around half the normal price...not sure I'd like to pay any more for it TBH, just for the Dagobah theme...

Although I have not yet set this up with the tadpoles, I see no problems with it. Constructed well enough and a good design idea to show how they develop (from tadpoles swimming under the swamp to frogs climbing out and visiting Yoda and his house) Instructions and tips info are clear.

Tadpoles can be purchased with an included order form for $7 each. I would imagine aquariums and pet stores would be better to purchase from....and cheaper!

I gave three of these frog habitats with two live tadpoles per habitat as Christmas gifts this year. After reading the other reviews concerning the tadpoles not ever sprouting legs, I purchased my tadpoles from another internet site. The habitats are very sturdy and look exactly as advertised. They were a big hit for the three boys who's ages ranged from 7 to 28.

This "toy" is one of the best I have seen for the tadpoles which will turn into frogs BECAUSE the top part is slightly tilted so that the frogs can easily enter dry land. I get tadpoles every year, for the neighborhood kids as well as my own, to watch so I have had a few different types of tanks. This one I am very pleased with... The star wars theme adds such a fun touch for the kids and has a hide out for the frogs as well. I feel you can buy this with confidence it will bring your loved one hours of fun as well as a lesson in science. I usually find my own tadpoles but I sent away for the tadpoles (coupon included, you pay for shipping) I have not received them yet. So I can't report on that part.

1.0 out of 5 stars please do better research on frogs and dont buy this product, September 1, 2010

I'm going to put this simply: Frogs need room, to hop & to be frogs! They need AT LEAST A 20 GALLON TANK w/ better substrate than just plastic... and this kit sets you up for failure w/ tadpoles. Tadpoles are fragile & need better care! This is not how you care for live animals!

Took forever for the tadpoles to reach frog status. And when they did, the frogs didn't last long. Son is 14, very good with animals, changing water, feeding and such. He's a great caretaker and was rather saddened when they died so quickly. He doesn't even want anymore. So the gift is trash now.

1.0 out of 5 stars 2 dead tadpoles, July 21, 2010
This review is from: Star Wars Science - Dagobah Frog Habitat (Toy)
I am writing this because tomorrow I will have to tell my son his second tadpole has died. We bought one from the pet store and it died. We decided to order the one that they suggest in the kit. It is dead. The tadpoles never really developed beyond a couple sprouts where legs should have come. I'd be interested to know if anyone's tadpole has survived and how. We changed the water at least once a week, and my son dutifully fed it per the directions.

The idea is very cute, and we loved the Dagobah theme. I wish it had worked out better.

I was surprised the tadpole arrived in good condition and we followed the instructions, but it never grew and eventually died.

after spending $26 for a plastic tank with a picture taped on the back, you must spend an addition $14 for two tadpoles.
They tell you to expect "shipping shock" meaning they swim erratically or don't swim at all for up to three days.
One of ours never recovered, in other words, this has been a lesson in death for my 6 year old.
You are better off catching tadpoles in a local stream or buying from a pet store.
