Overall the system is good, very easy to set-up. Just un-pack and color match the speaker cables, plug-it in and your done.
It could have been 5 stars but it doesn't have an AM tunner, most sporting events are broadcast on AM so its a big deal for me.
The USB port is great, just plug-in your drive and set the input to AUX and hit play. In a hurry, you don't...

Have owned this a year now, bought it to replace a Insignia cheapo that the tray wouldn't open/close much and was pleased with the appearance & price. Image quality is good, PS3 takes care of that. Using the system just for the audio.
Pros:
Great Sound
Easy Set-up
Good image quality
Cons:
No AM Tunner
Speaker wires could have been of a thiker gauge
Subwoofer could have had a screen to protect it

I wanted a cheap system so I purchased this one from my local store. It's fairly easy to set up and use. When I plugged my iphone in, I'm used to things working instantly but with this system, you need to wait about 10 seconds for it to recognize the iphone and then play music.
Sound quality if good. Remote is easy to use.
All in all, happy with my purchase. I'd recommend it for someone who wants a cheap system. Keep in mind...for $200 you are getting a dvd player, receiver, 5 speakers, 1 sub-woofer. It's inexpensive and you get a lot for the low price point. But cheaper things do tend to break more

Unit has OK sound. It's nowhere near 1000 watts though. more like 100. Easy to assemble. If you need sound through the unit from the TV, you will need a fiber-optic TosLink cable in addition to the HDMI cable. Our TV, Samsung 42B450 only does audio-in on HDMI (ref p.30 in stereo user manual#. The system works great w/Samsung's AnyNet, 1 remote controls it all. DVD plays all the disks we have- CD-R w/MP3, DVD-RW and R. Bass is too strong at factory settings.
Pros; low cost, goes well w/other Samsung equipment, sound is OK, small center speaker, CD-rip capable, USB and I-POD support.
Cons; Front panel buttons not lighted, 1000 watt claim is a joke, proper cables are not included #HDMI and TosLink)
Overall, we like and will keep the unit. It's for our formal living room and is not the main system.

Love this surround sound system. Does everything you would expect from a boxed HT system. Got it with a 50" plasma and it works great. Hooked up with HDMI cable and digital optical cable for surround sound and DVD picture. Sounds awesome with movies...star trek, new wolverine x-men movie etc. This is the easiest thing in the world to hook up anyone can do it.

This is a very good sound system at a reasonable price and with the quality you expect from Samsung. It is not overly difficult to set up and the sound is very nice. Overall a nice buy and am satisfied.

Have owned this a year now, bought it to replace a Insignia cheapo that the tray wouldn't open/close much and was pleased with the appearance & price. Dvd's look good and sound good but after about 5 months, the player will black out every 5 or 10 min for maybe 2 or 3 sec while hooked up to the hdmi port on my bigscreen Phillips tv. Have tried different cables so it's the receiver/player. Could've called Samsung & sent it back for warranty service, but for the price of shipping, really wasn't worth the bother. The hiccups continue to this day, don't have that prob with any other electronics hooked up to the same tv. Have an LG blu ray player & it works flawlessly!! I've been a big fan of Samsung products, use their optical drives in my computers, but even those are suffering in quality control these days. So, if I had it to do all over again, I'd buy another brand, prob LG and steer away from Samsung, at least for dvd media products. I'll buy a new system for the living room & relegate this one to the bedroom where it'll never be used again.

I had a good surround sound system that died. While I get sound around, it all sounds the same. Not Dolby, like in a theatre. Plays DVDs fine. No problem with picture. But really unhappy with sound. one to two stars.

I got this system as a gift for my in-laws and it would be great, except the DVD player seems very particular about the DVD's and has lots of problems playing many of the DVD's we try to play. I'm not sure why the system seems so picky, but even discs that are not scratched or smudged will sometimes give us trouble. And usually in the same spot each time. Other DVD players will cruise right through that spot without problem which makes me think that the Samsung player is very finicky.
I have a couple of other Samsung DVD players and am seeing similar behavior, including one Blu-Ray unit that has problems. I also have a Sony Playstation 3 as a blu-ray player and it gives me NO PROBLEMS on the same discs.
I also have a couple of Samsung LCD flatscreen tvs and they are FLAWLESS.
So my recommendation is to use Samsung for your TV, but find a different DVD player...

That being said, im glad i got it for free cause the quality is def subpar. the rear speakers sound aweful. If its not static, no sound, then its the lack of volume. I have tried playing around in these settings but nothing seems to work. The front and center speakers arent that bad, but the rears really take away from enjoying it around you. As far as the player goes i dont have really any issues other than the dont really have buttons...why they went to that ill have no idea. Havent had any errors, reading or loading. If i wouldnt of gotten this free (bought my inlaws a new tv) and had paid there asking price of like 320 roughly i would have been very upset and returned them.
