This doll is made from very cheap plastic. The sword broke within 30 seconds of my daughter playing with it, and the tiara is hard to move down into the mask position (for my four year old). I found that if you squeeze the head and then push it down, it will work much better. The necklace didnt stay on at all and was lost within a few hours of play. The clothes and the tiara can be removed, but her legs are pink, not tan. And after two days of play, the dress is ripping around the shoulder!!!
On the brighter side, the clothes are very pretty and it is easy for my daughter to switch the skirt and the cape around. I also love the pink boots, which come up almost to the dolls knees. Overall, my daughter loves this doll and there is tons of room for her imagination to grow. She is already getting into the story line. She doesnt care or even notice the doll is made with cheap plastic and was fine with a tapped sword, and really, her opinion is the one that matters!!!

Bought this for my 4 year old grand daughter. Like the previous review said the sword broke within 2 minutes of taking it out of the box and the skirt/cape doesn't stay on. The piece of velcro is so small by the time they stitched it on there's nothing left for it to hook on to. Hard to explain to a 4 year old in tears why the sword broke and the skirt/cape won't stay on the doll. Hopefully they'll rethink a sword made out of little "balls" and figure out a better way for the skirt/cape to work.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun doll, sword and crown break easily, November 30, 2009

Great doll - fun clothes. But sword for both dolls bought as birthday gifts broke the first day. The crown is stuck into the barbie's head and hard to remove. Once removed, can not be put back on. Needs to come with several swords or stronger flexible ones.

I ordered two of these dolls for my daughters, because they love the "Barbie and the Three Musketeers" movie. Because of what the other reviewers had said here, I warned my daughters that the swords are very delicate and break easily. Unfortunately, the swords indeed broke after less than an hour, despite their gentle treatment. Also, the velcro on one cape/skirt is so tiny that it will not stay fastened; we've resorted to using a safety pin to keep it in place. I've found $[...] Barbies of better quality than these dolls. I'm not sure why Mattel is willing to put it's name on such a low-quality toy.

Like others mentioned, the sword was broken within minutes of play. It's very thin, brittle plastic, and she was playing relatively gently with it when it broke. Shouldn't it withstand one brief battle with Cinderella? It's a sword, for fighting off villans, and Ken (when he's had too many daqueries). Strawberry Shortcake's hat is a better weapon than Barbie's sword.
My daughter wanted this doll so badly and calls is her "super hero" barbie. My only real gripe is with the plastic accessories. The sword, the sword, the sword. The necklace also broke the next day and went missing. The crown/mask is odd and diffucult for younger girls to maneuver up and down. It's stuck through poor Barbies skull for goodness sake!
I like that the boots are easier for her to get on than the ones we had in the 70's. My mom could never get those things on.
But seriously, the sword was one of the things that drew my daughter to this doll in the first place. I can't seem to find a replacement in the Barbie section, so what gives?

As the other reviews stated, the "sword" is just a joke! the dress is beautiful, but again, the velcro system is not that functional. And yeah, the dress also tore on the shoulders. My 3 and 5 year old daughters love this doll and don't want me to return it to the store, and the love following along the movie while they play with it, so we'll keep it. But, if I knew how much frustration this barbie was going to bring to them I'd have never even consider getting it!

My daughter used her own money to buy this & what a disappointment. One of the doll's legs falls off anytime she plays with it. Next the cheap sword- what a joke- you are better to go get the little swords used for cocktail drinks they are more durable. Can't email Mattel to let them know that whomever is making these things for them is doing a bad job you have to call them & I am sorry but I work & commute so 7 am to 5 pm hours don't work for me.

Spend your money on something else- these need to made better.

My 4 year old absolutely loves Barbie and the 3 Musketeers and also loves her Corrine doll. However there were some odd things about the doll that I found offputting. The mask is literally stuck into the top of Barbie's head so it will slide up and down which first off is strange, and secondly does not allow the mask/crown to be removed. The legs are dyed pink also so even if she wants to change the doll's outfit she is still stuck with pink legs and a crown through her head...and isn't changing outfits the most fun thing about Barbie?? Also as many other reviewers have stated, the skirt/cape is held on with the tiniest piece of velcro imaginable. My daughter doesn't usually even bother with it because she knows it will fall off. I think Mattel could have sprung for a slightly larger piece of velcro. And as almost everyone else has stated the sword breaks after about 5 minutes if you are lucky to have that long.
While my daughter loves her Musketeer, I feel like Mattel rushed to make this doll and did not really test it out or consider how it would be played with. If your daughter loves Barbie and the Musketeers then go ahead and get it for her, but if she is just interested in Barbie then don't bother as it will just frustrate her.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sword is the only flaw., December 26, 2009

I think this sets a great self esteem girl power thing for my daughter by letting her be a swash buckling princess saving the prince, however it has a cheap sword. The sword was in poor design. My biggest concern is that kids no matter what age put toys in their mouth when distracted. This sword is so poorly designed that there could be a chance that is breaks off in their mouth.

I do understand that it is designed age appropriate, but the sword was broke within minutes. It has very thin intersections between the bead like blade of the sword which causes it to break off. Very poor design in the sword, however the toy concept itself is a huge fun factor.

My daughter did not have any other of the above problems with the toy, and wish that they would off some sort of replacement sword. The sword is not repairable once broken.

The other thing about the faulty sword is it is the center piece of the character and this was quite disappointing for my daughter. She now pretends the doll has its own sword.

The doll itself is the typical barbie stock of adventure themed barbie. Rough clothes and plastic knick knacks. Less high end Barbie, more action figure stock. But this is fairly typical for this type of Barbie.
