Great sound quality for a great price.
I bought these to replace the aging earbuds that came with my iPod almost two years ago. At $10, I thought "why not at least give them a try?" about these, and at first I thought I'd made a mistake. When I opened the package, I noticed that they were packaged in a way that you would expect to see something on a shelf in a children's section of a toy store, and when I...
Weak Bass, Brassy Treble
Tried these on several units: Sony cassette Walkman; an old Panasonic cassette walkman-type with dolby, 3 band equalizer, variable bass boost; Philips portable cd-player; a cassette tape deck; an Onkyo cd-changer and a Korg guitar Ampworks processor. Fit was very critical to get any acceptable sound. For me, the larger "cushions" were more effective than the small ones...

I bought these to replace the aging earbuds that came with my iPod almost two years ago. At $10, I thought "why not at least give them a try?" about these, and at first I thought I'd made a mistake. When I opened the package, I noticed that they were packaged in a way that you would expect to see something on a shelf in a children's section of a toy store, and when I removed them, they felt slightly plasticky.
Though that's the only bad thing. They come with two different sizes of earbud inserts (for lack of a better word) which are both extremely comfortable, and work effectively to block out any noise (an unadvertised feature, and one that should be!). The sound quality is simply amazing, comparable to something that you'd spent upwards of $100 on. They seem to have onboard amplifiers of some sort, as even at the lowest volume, the audio is adequate enough to be heard easily. If you looking for new earbuds and don't want to spend much, you should definitely consider these.

I just purchased this item a few days ago based on the positive review here. The product well exceded my expectations. The sound quality is among the best I've heard, and the cord seems strong and like it won't break apart, as happens with the less expensive Maxell earphones. It's also quite comfortable on my ears. I'm definitely buying another one because people might not want to buy these due to the M&M title would seem to imply lower quality (I'm so glad I saw the other review!)

These earbuds are very nice. They block most of the ambient sound. They deliver crisp high and deep lows. They come with various size cushions for a custom fit. Would definitily buy more!!

For me, the larger "cushions" were more effective than the small ones (which gave an overly brassy sound, like something from the dollar store). The highs were too bright, to the point of being fatiguing after a short while. Bass was very weak even with bass boost turned up on the units that had it. Overall, I thought the sound was not well balanced, with too much emphasis on the highs, and a loss of detail in the mids and (especially) lower ranges; they made everything sound sort of like an MP3. Fortunately, I paid less than $7 for them; I really don't think they're worth more than that. Unfortunately, I bought more than one pair 'cos I thought they'd make cute stocking stuffers, but now they'll be just another thrift shop donation...

I searched and searched for a pair of ear buds that, should I fall asleep while listening to an audiobook, would be comfortable enough not to wake me up and or cause ear damage. These fit the bill nicely. Perhaps because they are designed with kids in mind, they fit me better than any others I have tried. I guess I have small ears for an adult. The first pair I bought at Fry's and they cost a little more. They lasted a long time, but eventually the insulation cracked in a couple of places. They still worked but I looked on Amazon to see if I could find another pair. I was very pleased when they arrived and I found that the insulation is much more supple than the first ones I bought so I don't think the cracking will be an issue.
These earbuds really do look like M&M's so DO NOT leave them laying around where younger children can get them. They are rated for 8 years and older and should do fine for kids that age unless you have an 8-year old who still puts inedible things in their mouths. Either way, it's YOUR fault if you get them and your kid tries to eat them.

I bought three different colors, one for each of my kids to match their MP3 players. they love them and they seem to fit well. as with kids, not a major investment should they lose or destroy them

Earphones with an M&M's theme, are kind of a cute idea. If you are looking for some economic earphones, for young children who are more concerned with appearance, rather than sound quality, you might consider them.
If you want a decent sound however, save your money and look elsewhere. The sound quality is muddy, with a heavy bias on the low end. High frequencies are not reproduced well, and for regular music, it can even be hard to make out some vocals. In addition, the build quality appears to be on the cheap side, in some areas. The cord is very thin, and probably more prone to breakage.
Perhaps these earphones are intended for small children, as out of the package they come with tiny silicone earbuds attached, that are too small for most adults to wear. Larger sized earbuds are included (loose inside package, so don't lose them). To install the larger earbud, you first need to remove the tiny one (don't tear it!). There is a technique to attaching the larger earbud. Turn it inside out, and attach it to the stem with the speaker, then push the edges down to get it back to the proper shape. With the large sized earbuds installed, you can get a snug fit, but probably not one that cuts out too much of the ambient sound.
These phones may look cool to some, but that's about the only positive. They do not reproduce sound well, and may not last for very long. The fit is comfortable, but if the earbuds get torn, you will probably need to buy new earphones, as a spare set of earbuds is not provided.
If you are looking for earphones in the same price range, that sound better, do a better job of cutting out ambient sound, are available in a variety of colors, and have a spare set of earpads, take a look at JVC's Marshmallow series.
