BEST EVER!
I agree with the other review OMG! This thing cleans like nobody's busniess! I have a maid service that cleans my house every 2 weeks. So imagine my suprise when I bought this new vacuum and used it in my house and saw the UNBELIEVABLE amount of crap that came out of my rugs and off my wood floors! The filter captured VERY fine dust before it ever got to the HEPA filter...

What a pain
Unless you like the idea of taking your vacuum apart each and EVERY time you use it and having to wash out the entire vacuum, this machine is not for you. As noted in another review, you have to change the filter at least every 2 months even though the manual says only every 6 months. There's no way to really clean the filter out, and even when you try, it takes DAYS...

BEST EVER!, September 27, 2009
This review is from: Eureka 4236AZ Comfort Clean Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
The filter captured VERY fine dust before it ever got to the HEPA filter. The main filter was FLITHY after one good cleaning on the main level of my house. I am SHOCKED!!! I cannot imagine a vacuum cleaner getting up more dirt and dust than this one. Fabulous machine--great value. DO NOT waste $$$$ on those expensive vacuums--BUY THIS ONE!!!

OMG!!, September 9, 2009
This review is from: Eureka 4236AZ Comfort Clean Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
I have been trying to decide which new vacuum to buy and finally bought this Eureka.
I had just used my old vacuum and ran through the house with it thinking that it would be a few more days before I got this one and got hubby to assemble it for use.
He put it together right away and I ran it just ONE day ofter using the older one. Granted, I realized it was time to replace the old one but it still picked up a good bit of stuff and when I changed bags, its was obviously still pulling a good bit of dust, cat hair, etc. when I used it.
But, I am still in a state of shock at what came out of my carpet! EEEEKKKKKKKKK!!! I am almost thinking that I may have to buy a new filter now, even though it says to change every six months! I can't begin to wrap my mind around just how much dust, cat hair, etc. that has obviously collecting in our house that we moved into just a couple of years ago at the most and the carpet was new at the time. I know they have a lot of fuzz and such in them when they are new but this is beyond belief as far as I am concerned.
Now, most of my floors are wood and I have vinyl in the kitchen and I know this machine did not come with a bare floor setting (which was my error before purchase) but am hoping it is available to purchase as attachment.
Either way, I put it on a different setting than for the higher carpet as I did not want it to beat up my wood floors andi it did fine. So, I covered most of the floor excpet the large formal dining room and the canister was full and as I said, I may need to replace the filter prior to the suggested time. It did brush off nicely with a soft bristle brush that I use for my clothes dryer.
All I can say is that this thing will make you feel like you have been living in a filthy dust pit and here I though I was a fairly clean person and kept a decent house and now I just feel like I need to run it again really quickly and see if I can get rid of more cooties!!
Mine came with the power paw but I did not even get that far with using it yet but feel sure it will be great on the furniture due to our cats who think they own the house!

Just what we needed., September 5, 2009
This review is from: Eureka 4236AZ Comfort Clean Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
We brought this Eureka! Comfort Clean home last night and put it right to use. This thing pulls out dirt and cat hair that our Dirt Devil couldn't even touch. The Power Paw attachment was perfect for our couches and our vertical window blinds where the cat would leave hair from climbing in and out of the window sill. 5 stars from me!

cleans great, November 1, 2009
This review is from: Eureka 4236AZ Comfort Clean Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
This vacuum cleaner does clean incredibly well. Carpets that you thought were clean were not. HOWEVER, it is very heavy and if you need to vacuum stairs or take it from one floor to another, you may want to work out with weights at the gym for a couple of months before you buy it. The filter needs to be washed EVERY time almost at our house (three dogs and a cat) and getting the canister out to empty requires husband help every time I have done it. I would buy it again probably but my enthusiasm for it is dampered by the weight and the less than easy manipulation/cleaning required. If you weight 120 lbs and have to vacuum carpets on two floors, I absolutely would NOT NOT NOT recommend this vacuum cleaner.

What a pain, December 30, 2009
This review is from: Eureka 4236AZ Comfort Clean Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
Unless you like the idea of taking your vacuum apart each and EVERY time you use it and having to wash out the entire vacuum, this machine is not for you. As noted in another review, you have to change the filter at least every 2 months even though the manual says only every 6 months. There's no way to really clean the filter out, and even when you try, it takes DAYS for it to dry well enough to put back into the machine. So then you have your vacuum parts laying out around the house. When you take the filter out to clean it, you have to bang it and shake it to get the first 80 layers of dirt off, so expect to have a big mess of dirt and mess to clean up out of your sink, kitchen counters and floor. This design is a disaster. When I clean house, the last thing I want when I'm done is yet ANOTHER cleaning job to do!! Bags are so much easier, faster, and cheaper.

Buy it for the price, love it for the power!, December 26, 2009
This review is from: Eureka 4236AZ Comfort Clean Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
I got this after both old Oreck and Bissel machines failed to pick up the needles from the Christmas tree. After reading the reviews on Dyson, Oreck, and other vacuums (at various retailers including Amazon and [...]) I settled on this one because of the rave reviews. Turns out it was a great choice! The assembly required a screwdriver for the five screws, but that was not a significant barrier. It's heavy - about 25 pounds - but one of the reasons I got it was the metal parts instead of the (frequently) breakable Dyson plastic parts. It's a substantial piece of equipment that more than does it's job. The first time I turned it on, it almost started pulling itself across the carpet. It does a great job and emptying it was simple and didn't require breathing any dust. good machine at a good price and I expect to have it a long time.

great so far....., November 16, 2009
This review is from: Eureka 4236AZ Comfort Clean Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
This is a good looking compact vacuum. It did a fantastic job the very first time I used it -- got up lots of dog hair. My old vacuum had lost 80% of it's suction power, so there was a lot to pick up. Doesn't seem to be picking up as much, but that may be because my carpets aren't so dirty now. I am not a big fan of the bagless vacuum, even with the release button for clean-out. I really like the adjustable handle -- I am only 5'2" and it is very comfortable to use. I find the vacuum to be very light weight and easy to manage. Overall, for the price, an very good buy.

Better than I'd hoped, November 27, 2009
This review is from: Eureka 4236AZ Comfort Clean Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
Was looking for a vacuum that would easily go from high pile to indoor/outdoor carpet. The Eureka 4236AZ does that and does it quite well. The only issue is the "tank" is small and have to empty it twice while I'm cleaning the whole house (lot's of dog hair, but it does do a great job getting the dog hair up).

Absolutely the greatest little vacuum!, January 30, 2010
This review is from: Eureka 4236AZ Comfort Clean Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
Did a lot of research before buying this vacuum and have not been disappointed! It is just the greatest! I have 4 cats, and it does a terrific job in picking up kitty fur and scattered litter! It is lightweight and easy to use. The retracting cord is so handy. Actually bought two of these. Started out with one for my daughter for her new apartment. After using it, she said her rugs looked like new! So I bought one for myself. If you are looking for an inexpensive yet powerful vacuum, buy this one. I guarantee you won't be disappointed! An extra note. Since it is so easy to use and not a bit cumbersome, I find that I vacuum more often. That is a big plus!

Seeing Is Believing!, February 20, 2010
This review is from: Eureka 4236AZ Comfort Clean Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
That's the old saying, but it rings true here. I was simply amazed at how much dirt this vac pulls up out of a clean carpet, let alone a dirty one. A fantastic vac that beats anything costing $100's more. A true great value for the price. Extra nice feature is a long,I mean long cord that retracts at the push of a button! Almost makes vacuuming fun! I know that sounds crazy,but.......I'll let you decide..
