Be sure to pick a design you like when you buy LeSportSac, because it will last forever. I have had some of mine for 30 years and they still look great and there are no broken zippers or tears, even though they have been through the washing machine after camping trips. This design in black with the zippered extension was very handy for a recent trip that including beach by day and fancy restaurants at night.

I use a smaller Lesportsac for my everyday purse, but needed something bigger to use when traveling in Germany. This was perfect! I was able to fit in the guidebooks and brochures I used during the day. The adjustable strap allows for the security of wearing it across your chest or just one shoulder. The many pockets made it easy to organize all of the travel stuff I was carting around everyday. Can't recommend it enough.

This is an excellent daybag or handbag for travelers. The black color of course goes with everything. The bag is practically weightless when empty. Multiple pockets and compartments keep valuables and needed items organized and safe. Long strap allows for across-the-body carrying. It is a perfect medium size, large enough to hold quite a bit, small enough not to make you fall over with its filled weight. I would give it 5 stars but I hesitate to call anything perfect.

Nearly weightless. I chose this bag for daily use and overseas travel when shoulder strain forced me to break-up with all my gorgeous leather designer handbags. Break-ups are never easy, but LeSportsac is not a bad rebound... It's not going to win any fashion awards, but the Pearl Lightening color is just shiny enough to not be your mother's generic tan hobo. Fits essentials plus a small lunch, office shoes, and a magazine.

I purchased this in a discontinued pattern called Jaipur, which is very similar to the pattern here called Viva, except Jaipur's stripes are designed to look hand-painted. I paid less than half of the list price for this purse, since I bought it at a discount store. While this purse seems well-made, and is big enough to carry most things women carry with them in the course of a day, I do not believe it is worth the list price. The zippers they used don't move easily - I have to use two hands on them most of the time (mainly to close the zippers). The strap is kind of thin, somewhat like a seatbelt (except thinner than a seatbelt). It has no padding whatsoever. The adjustment buckle is plastic. There is only one zipper compartment inside the purse. However, it does have three slim pockets on the outside (if you put anything that isn't thin in these you'll notice that the item will cause an ugly bulge inside and outside the bag). The lining on this pattern is black, which is a bad idea. (It is about time that all purse manufacturers abandoned dark-colored linings for purses.) One major plus is the dividing wall - this means you have two fairly large areas to keep things in, and everyone doesn't have to see all that's in your bag when you just want to take out your wallet. Also, the expansion zipper feature is nice to have, though I expect most people would just leave it expanded all the time. I would only zip up the expansion zipper if I were packing it in luggage to take on a trip. It is very lightweight, which does make it a good choice for traveling. All in all, I wouldn't purchase it again unless I could get it again for less than half of list price.
By the way, the label on the inside of this purse indicates it was made in the Dominican Republic. The profit margin on this must be pretty high when people pay $78.00 for them.
4/11/10 - I'd like to add, after using this for a few weeks, that two additional things stick out as annoyances on this purse: There are no pen slots, and the strap doesn't have swivel connectors. (The fittings on the strap are plastic, which is strange for a purse in this price category.) This means the strap is more likely to get twisted when you put it on your body, and it's not easy to get it untwisted while wearing it.
7/21/10 - I recently found another one at a discount store, an old pattern called "50's Dot." This one has a label which says "Made in China." Same black interior, no pen slot or loop.

This is the perfect purse/bag, has lots of pockets but not to many. It's expandable, and very durable, it's the 3rd one (different prints) that I have bought. It's the only purse I will use now and love the different patterns to choose from. A style for everyone.

(A review from the wife:) This is my first Lesportsac bag and I was completely surprised by how lightweight it is and how tough it is. I know everyone says so, but it is true! I like how the strap is basically a comfortable seat belt material - it makes the rest on your shoulder much more comfortable than usual bag straps.
I love that the bag's main compartment is divided in half. I use one side as a purse, and the other side as a diaper bag. The bag isn't big enough for the mom who carries everything - but it's great for my toddlers who just need a few diapers, wipes, drinks, and snacks for daily errand runs. The outside pockets are small, but great for quick access items like a cell phone.
I was lucky to catch a sale on the Pixel Rose pattern at about $49. The list price is painful, but I think if you're really looking for that bag that will last through everyday use for a long time, it will pay for itself because you won't be tempted to buy cheaper quality bags!

I just purchased this bag a few days ago. I was so excited when it arrived. I'm a stay at home mom of 2 daughters. When the bag arrived my girls both said can we have one too! It holds lots of stuff with out being bulky. I love it.

Each time my bag wears out I look around for a LIGHTWEIGHT bag that will serve my needs. It always comes back to this bag. I use it everyday and for traveling. It's big enough that you can stuff a hat, spare socks, even light shoes if you need to. And it can be zipped smaller when you don't need it. And all of the pockets (except one) zip completely closed which is very important to me. I noticed that there are now metal connections on the straps - I know another reviewer had requested these. I'm not sure they are better, I think they are heavier, but it's not a big difference. This new zinc color that I bought turns out to be a very nice change from my basic black. They last about 5 years. Best not to wash them though, since some of the fabric will get pilly if you do.

This is a wonderful handbag for traveling because there are so many zippered compartments for all your essentials and small compartment (within one of the larger sections) for a small wallet. I took this to a 2 week Korea trip and it was so helpful.
The smallest zipper pouch can fit keys, a transit card, mints/gum, or small cell phone.
The second smallest zipper pouch can fit a iPhone/iPod/blackberry/Large cell phone, or mints/gum.
The other side of the handbag has a medium size zipper pouch where I put Kleenex, napkins, antibacterial wipes (for traveling) or airline tickets.
The two large main sections in the center of the handbag are great for everything else: camera, tri-folded documents, passport, toiletry bag, a baseball cap, wallet/coin purse, thin magazine (rolled up).
As long as you can organize well, you can fit so many things in this handbag - just remember where you put everything!
I will definitely use this bag until it breaks down, which I think won't occur for at least 20 years.
