Lava Lamp Does What It Should Do
Lamp works great and looks like everything a lava lamp should look like. There is only one bad thing about this and that is that the liquid is not clear at all. It's not clear/red it's red/red. I probably would have bought a different one if I had known but it's still a cool lamp.

It's not exactly easy to tell the various lava lamp suppliers apart--they all claim to be "the" only authentic high-quality purveyor out there--but Amazon should move on from whoever is selling them their lava lamps at the moment. It's not exactly easy to tell the various lava lamp suppliers apart--they all claim to be "the" only authentic high-quality purveyor out there--but Amazon should move on from whoever is selling them their lava lamps at the moment. I'm looking at my second consecutive opaque red lava lamp as I type this. There's almost certainly some wax melting in there, but it's not as though I can see it.
Lava lamps being cloudy right out of the box is an either/or thing, so if you get lucky and the "clear" liquid is even remotely clear, I'm sure it's a fine lamp. But the odds aren't great, as you can tell if you look for the word "cloudy" in these other reviews.

Does NOT work, November 7, 2009
I had bought another lava lamp from Amazon, and this one seemed like a wonderful addition......sadly there are just two blobs of wax on at the top and one at the bottom sitting there. This was a waste of money alright.

not a good product, October 15, 2009
i got it and i couldnt see through the liquid it had a weird smoke like look and i thought it was just shaken up and needed to settle but its been 2 weeks now and its still murky and you can barely see the lava when it flows and its black lava i am very disappointed in this product i do not recommended other users to buy this from this seller

lava lamp, August 30, 2009
it is ok. the only flaws are that it is kind of hard to see the white liquid and that it takes a while to heat up. it is slower than all my other lava lamps. I think that this is an alright lava lamp and I don't regret buying it.

Not everything I wanted., April 26, 2008
I purchased this lamp as a present for a friend. The lamp arrived in a timely manner, but after that, things went downhill. It took several tries over a period of multiple days to get the lava to function as it should (ie, not lay stuck in one large clump at the bottom of the lamp). Also, the solution the lava is in is very cloudy which means it's not very nice to look at. However, the customer service department at LAMPS PLUS is very friendly and really helpful.

Does what a lava lamp ought to do, March 31, 2010
My first grader wanted a lava lamp for a nightlight, and picked this particular model for its colors. He's very happy with it, and I've got to admit it can be hypnotic to watch. There's not much to a lava lamp, but this one is nicely made and it does what you want a lava lamp to do.

My lava lamp, when it gets warmed up, tends to have all the wax stay in one lump at the top of the lamp, rather than circulating in smaller lumps to create the typical lava lamp look. A little disappointing.

Purple and Clear Silver Base Lava Lamp, April 13, 2010
THIS LAVA LITE SUCKS, THE WATER IS SO MERKEY YOU CANNOT EVEN SEE THE LAVA BALLS.
IT WAS SUPPOSED HAVE CLEAR WATER BUT IT IS ALMOST YELLOW. NOT AT ALL WHAT THEY
ADVERTISE.
I WAS VERY DISSAPOINTED.
