The world has gone mad!
My four year old loves Zhu Zhu pets but not enough for me to pay 3x the retail price. I cannot imagine that anyone would be suckered into such a rip-off. I am searching target, toys-r-us and wal-mart and have fould a few pieces. If I don't get everything before Christmas I will save it for her birthday. Stores won't be able to give these things away after Christmas...

not worth it
OK, guys, I know you want to satisfy your kids' cravings for this little hamster, but he is totally NOT WORTH the money. I bought one, and threw it out. It worked for a short time, I changed the batteries, then it worked a bit again. It is very cheaply made, and people are selling them for exhorbitant prices, ripping off those who really can't afford to pay these high...

Seriously, I can't believe Amazon is selling this hamster for these prices, I'm disgusted, don't waste your money! Cute for $8, only. It makes a few cute sounds but had I known this Hamster made TRAIN sounds and says "beep beep" I would have never bought it! When you press the back it says "go go go" and runs for about 1 minute before you have to press the button again. This means that when the hamster is in a tunnel or the adventure ball you have to fish him out to start all over again. My 8 year old was completely disappointed, luckily I bought when the price was still reasonable.

My daughter (9 yrs.)was so excited to get this and it seemed to break right out of the package. The screw that keeps the battery compartment closed doesn't stay in which is really frustrating. My daughter lost interest within a day and it's been banished to the floor ever since. During the brief time it did work it wasn't all that interesting and would probably be most appropriate for a very young child.

I got up early and was able to get Zhu Zhu Pets hamsters at WalMart. So glad because I know they are selling out stores because I've been calling everywhere.
Anyway, my kids have been playing with them all day. And then hair got wrapped around the little wheel and I thought one had broke so I spent forever trying to get the hair off -- but that's not what was making an additional squealing noise and making the wheels stop turning.
The little Zhu Zhu pets hamsters just needed new batteries. They came with 2 AAA batteries from the manufacturer -- and I'm sure they weren't in the store that long so that little hands could've worn out the batteries thru the "try me" window.
They must've just come with batteries not as good as the ones I changed them into. Because I just popped in some Duracel or whatever batteries -- and now the Zhu Zhu Pets run even faster than when we first bought them this morning.
My children are playing with them as I write.
Now we want all the Zhu Zhu pets in the collection -- and the accessories. Maybe by Christmas or before...

I bought this toy off of a friend who happened to buy a few in Walmart for 10 bucks each. They are barely worth that price and MOST definitely not worth 40 dollars. I got them for my daughter, and would have hurt someone if they sent this to me in the mail for 40 dollars. Cute, yes, fun, probably, just not for that much money.
Don't give in, get your kid something else, and get the zhu zhu later (of if you can- from a friend who isn't looking to make a quick buck off of you)

I bought this for my daughter for her third birthday. It is alot smaller than I thought it would be. He's not much bigger than the palm of my hand (and mind you I am no "amazon woman"). He is very cute, runs around the floor after her and makes sweet little chirping sounds. However, I didn't pay any attention to the bright yellow sticker on the bottom of him warning me to keep him away from long hair. My daughter was holding him in her hand talking to him, when I heard wailing. I ran to see what was wrong, only to find "Chunk" chewing his way up my daughters hair much to her horror! And let me tell you, he does not let go of the hair without a fight. My daughter now has shorter hair on the right side of her head, and Chunk rolls around the floor with her hair wound all around his little wheels. Through good marketing, I'm now going to have to buy her the little carrying bag that she saw on TV for him so that we don't have another "chunk" incident. Hmm, I wonder if that is why they made those little $30 bags. I think it's a consipiracy :)))
On a side note, I only paid $30 for Chunk (a few months ago) and I would NOT pay any more than that. The outragous prices are a joke. While he is cute, he does nothing more than scoot around the floor bumping into cabinets and chairs. Had she not seen him on TV and begged for him for her birthday, and had I not been a complete pushover, I would not have purchased him. Keep in mind that the kids are not happy with just the hamster, you will need to spend over hundreds of dollars to get all of the accessories that "complete" your zhuzhu pet.

I had no idea when I bought this that the actual price is only $8 and I paid almost three times that much just because it is in short supply..my granddaughter wanted one and that's the only reason I went ahead and purchased it..it's a shame to be taken advantage of because of the supply/demand situation..from now on I will be more conscious of what the actual price is supposed to be before I order something from Amazon like this again.

My mom works at Walmart so she was able to get my sister a Zhu Zhu pet when a new shipment came in the night before Christmas Eve. The thing was fun until it BROKE.
Seriously what can you expect for a $8 toy but now it's been two days since Christmas and the thing won't move anymore. There was one tiny string on the wheel and I took the whole thing apart, cleaned the wheels, changed the batteries and nothing! This was a waste. My sister didn't even know what it was.
For those who couldn't find them, be glad it doesn't last and isn't worth it. I really hate it for the people who went all out and bought all the accessories and stuff. Luckily we didn't.
These toys were clearly cheaply made and I really feel bad for the suckers who paid 3 and 4 times the retail price just so their kids could be happy.
Very dissapointing.

I'm eight and got this for Christmas, this is my review. Chunk is my zhu zzhu's name.I think he's the cutest one but seems to go slower than the other zhu zhus even when batterys are new. My dad had to tighten the wheels once.But a quick fix. Love him I think he's cute but is way more slower. But he's good in he ball and in the world. It lasts a long time befor you have to replace batteries, better than some toys. And makes speacil noise when sleeping!
