Zhu Zhu Ball Review!
My boyfriend walked in the other day with a "surprise" for me. Lo and behold the Wal-mart by his workplace had these in stock so I guess I get to review something besides the hamsters. :D
First off the ball isn't the sturdiest and with a bit of pressure to the right area you can pop off the lid, it screws right back on though. Also if the batteries are low...

Review the Hamster Ball, October 14, 2009
Durability: Fun: Educational:
This review is from: Zhu Zhu Pets Adventure Ball (Toy)
First let me say that I'm more frustrated with the REVIEWERS on here than I am the ball!! I came on here trying to find out if the ball is worth buying only to find complaints about the prices of 3rd party sellers! I bought the ball w/o having any answers b/c 90% of the reviews had nothing to do with the ball! It affects the rating of the product, which ALSO hurts the manufacturer! This is a place to REVIEW THE PRODUCT, people!
That being said, this ball is frustrating. The hamster itself is adorable. We've had no problems with the ACTUAL hamster or other accessories.
To use the ball, a parent must attach a plastic piece that comes with the ball to the hamster to keep it weighted down so it doesn't flip over while it's being used. The problem is that the hamster still flips over whether wearing the piece or not. Also, the piece falls off all the time as it is not held on my anything, just "fitted" where you are supposed to put it. My other complaint is that when you are ready to put the hamster in the ball, you have to press the button on it's back and quickly fit the ball's lid on the ball. This is difficult to do b/c if you are tilting the ball at all while doing this, the hamster flips over immediately and you have to do it all over again. It would be good of the hamster had a delay so you could get the lid on and set the ball on the ground before it starts going. Lastly, all of these issues make it difficult for a child to play with this by themselves. I have a baby, so stopping to fix the ball 20 times is not feasible.
I gave the toy 3 stars because it is still cute and my kids still like it even though they get frustrated by it. I also wanted to balance out the reviews of other people who aren't writing anything about the toy!

zhu zhu activity ball is a piece of junk, October 12, 2009
Durability: Fun:
This review is from: Zhu Zhu Pets Adventure Ball (Toy)
The concept is great; however, the ball is very difficult to take apart & put together, which has to be done every time the kids want to put a new hamster in. There is also a tiny plastic piece that is not attached to the ball but is necessary for the pet to use the ball. This little plastic piece will be easily lost. Buy something else for you zhu zhu pets to play with.

Zhu Zhu Ball Review!, November 16, 2009
Durability: Fun: Educational:
This review is from: Zhu Zhu Pets Adventure Ball (Toy)
My boyfriend walked in the other day with a "surprise" for me. Lo and behold the Wal-mart by his workplace had these in stock so I guess I get to review something besides the hamsters. :D
First off the ball isn't the sturdiest and with a bit of pressure to the right area you can pop off the lid, it screws right back on though. Also if the batteries are low it won't run too well so change them first.
they give you a stability plate with the hamster, but honestly I found that it moved better and flipped over less without it. It moves like you'd expect, bumbles around, pauses then runs some more, it's cute I have to admit, but the sounds are dampened by the ball. It kind of sounds like it's in a tin can. Every now and then it may flip over in the ball, though nudge it and it's quickly corrected.
If you already have the hamsters it's probably worth the extra ten dollars to get the ball. I wouldn't buy it at any marked up price but it is cute and functions as well as expected. Just keep it away from dogs. Mine has launched a war against this thing.

The Ball SUCKS!!!!!!, October 16, 2009
Durability: Fun: Educational:
This review is from: Zhu Zhu Pets Adventure Ball (Toy)
I bought my son the hamster as a first pet. I also bought the ball. This crappy ball comes apart at the drop of a dime. I FINALLY today super glued the ball together so he can play with it. The rodent flips over all the time and before today the ball fell apart. I will see how the glue holds up!!!!!

Zhu Zhu Pets Adventure Ball, November 20, 2009
Durability: Fun: Educational:
This review is from: Zhu Zhu Pets Adventure Ball (Toy)
While the Zhu Zhu Pet craze has taken off, and the hamsters are cute and fun, the accessories leave a lot to be desired. The ball does not stay together for longer than 5 minutes, and I am constantly trying to put it back together. Made of lightweight, non-durable plastic, it is not stable and does not stay together. I am seriously thinking of purchasing a "real" hamster ball from a pet store. The only problem is you need the stabilizer piece that keeps the hamster from rolling over and over in the ball.

Doesn't work very well, December 18, 2009
Durability: Fun: Educational:
This review is from: Zhu Zhu Pets Adventure Ball (Toy)
This ball came with an attachment for the pet so he can move around in it more easily, but it keeps popping off. Plus the ball doesn't stay locked together (keeps breaking in two).

don't bother, November 13, 2009
Durability: Fun: Educational:
This review is from: Zhu Zhu Pets Adventure Ball (Toy)
bought this to go with the hamster as it was more reasonably priced and thought it would give her something to do with the hamster. What a waste! The ball is a pain to put together and then we had to duck tape it to get it to stay. The balancing piece that the hamster is supposed to use in the ball falls off after about 2 seconds and we had to tape that on too! She loves the hamster, but wouldn't recommend the ball.

Fun Toy, December 10, 2009
Durability: Fun: Educational:
I bought this for my 8 year old daughter for Xmass. I tried it out this morning as I was concerned about the reviews I read on it. I think that this toy is well worth the retail price. I would not pay the inflated prices but that is just me. I read the directions and put the ball together the way they said and I had no problems with it staying together. I also put the stabilizer piece on the bottom of the hamster which the directions recommended. The hamster was rolling all over the floor. It did flip over a couple of times but was either able to right itself or I just had to nudge it with my foot. Overall, I think it is a fun toy worth the retail price.

Love our Zhu Zhu ball!, December 22, 2009
Durability: Fun: Educational:
This review is from: Zhu Zhu Pets Adventure Ball (Toy)
I bought this ball for my daughter for Christmas when I was lucky enough to find it at my local Meijer store back in September. After reading many negative reviews of this ball, I decided to get all of her Zhu Zhu items ready for Santas arrival and put it all together. The ball went together very easily by following the directions and stayed together. Hamsters work great in it. I have no problems with the ball at all or with the hamster stabilizer bar. Ours works great and is probably my favorite of all accessories! As it was rolling, my dog was going crazy barking at this little hamster rolling this ball all over our living room. I know my daughter will love it. I also have the fun house, starter set and all add ons and they go together very easily and stay together well if you just follow the directions when assembling. They also came apart so I could easily store it all before Santa comes. I know she will love it!
