Works Great
This kettle whistles perfectly and so far it's holding up great. The handle gets hot but I can hold it long enough to pour the water without feeling like I'm getting burned.

Whistle barely made a sound
The kettle was fine for the price, but the whistle was more of a hiss. The plastic was in flames the last time I used the kettle and left the room, and I nearly set the kitchen on fire. I accept that this was my own fault, but if you want to rely on the whistle, do not get this item. I've learned my lesson and have ordered an electric tea kettle with auto-shutoff. I...

Whistle barely made a sound, December 28, 2009
This review is from: Primula Liberty Stainless Steel 2.5 qt.Tea Kettle (Kitchen)
I gave two stars for boiling water, but no more because people who buy whistling tea kettles generally want the whistle to work.

Chinese Tea Kettle, July 20, 2010
This review is from: Primula Liberty Stainless Steel 2.5 qt.Tea Kettle (Kitchen)
I received the product Pre-Dented--the metal is so thin if pressed it could collapse. The U.S. made kettle I had withstood three burnings--I don't think this one will go beyond its first. The kettle looks good and holds water but the whistle has fallen out and the metal cover on the handle has also fallen off.

No whistling, loose lid, June 8, 2010
This review is from: Primula Liberty Stainless Steel 2.5 qt.Tea Kettle (Kitchen)
Amazon delivered the Tea Kettle quickly and it arrived in good shape.
The kettle would not whistle at all. The problem was due to a loose-fitting cover which rattled as steam escaped around it. Not enough pressure built up to blow the whistle.
By chance I discovered that the cover of our old kettle (Chantal?) fits perfectly. Very lucky, if rather strange.

Works great, January 23, 2010
This review is from: Primula Liberty Stainless Steel 2.5 qt.Tea Kettle (Kitchen)
I have not used a whistling kettle before this one so I couldn't tell you whether it loud enough or not. It seems loud enough for me. It looks great and well, boiled water (what else is there?) I give it four stars because I haven't had it for that long so I don't know what problems I might have as it gets older plus it didn't really do anything above and beyond what I expected to earn five stars.

Fairly Good Kettle, June 7, 2010
This review is from: Primula Liberty Stainless Steel 2.5 qt.Tea Kettle (Kitchen)
Given the price and the favoring reviews, and the capacity and appearance, I was convinced that this would be a fine purchase. My old kettle has gone through some wear and tear, having been burned a number of times when the boiling water contained dried up on the oven (the whistle irritates more, so I do not employ this announcing and warning feature). Well, the "Primula Liberty" has the rubbery smell--which may mean that the rubber is not of excellent good quality and that it may lend that smell to your boiling beverage water. Also, the metal is light and less reinforced, compared to that of my old kettle. Ultimately, though my old kettle is quite beaten up, I am still using it. But I am sure that one day I will bring out my "Primula Liberty," grow to fully liking it and to satisfactorily use it to boil my water for tea.

Excellent Stove Top Tea Kettle, June 2, 2010
This review is from: Primula Liberty Stainless Steel 2.5 qt.Tea Kettle (Kitchen)
There were many tea kettles to choose from on Amazon. We ordered this one based on price, style, size and reviews. We are very satisfied. Some have said that the whistle isn't loud enough. But it is fine for us. I can hear it in the living room, about 25 feet away with two door openings between. It isn't like a fire engine siren, but .......... It is heavily constructed, easy to clean. The handle stays cool enough to pick up easily. You can fill it easily from the spout and the lid is big enough to get down into the kettle to clean out lime and deposits, an issue in this area. I have nothing bad to say about it. Or, put it this way: buy it! ;-)

Not worth it, May 27, 2010
This review is from: Primula Liberty Stainless Steel 2.5 qt.Tea Kettle (Kitchen)
Just got it and have to try to return it. Not a bad looking kettle but it is tinny and I suspect only dogs can hear it whistle, I know I couldn't. Another reviewer claims it caught fire and I can believe it. Its very tinny and I imagine the plastic handle would melt easily if let on the stove too long with no audible whistle to let you know it had boiled. The pot I replaced was sturdier and had a whistle the neighbors could hear, no chance of leaving that pot to boil out. I suggest you take a pass on this pot and try another.

My little tea pot., May 24, 2010
This review is from: Primula Liberty Stainless Steel 2.5 qt.Tea Kettle (Kitchen)
I personally love this tea pot. I use it because i drink tea a lot. I can hear the whistle from my front room very clearly. The handle does get a bit hot though, but not enough to burn you. So over all i love my little tea pot.
