VERY USEFUL
Got this for my father who is aged and has difficulties bending. Since most toilets are low off the ground, a person's center of gravity is compromised when sitting. If your legs and balance are fair to good, then you don't have a problem. Otherwise, you're flirting with danger going to the bathroom and a fall will be inevitable.
The locking elevated seat...

VERY USEFUL, May 6, 2009
Got this for my father who is aged and has difficulties bending. Since most toilets are low off the ground, a person's center of gravity is compromised when sitting. If your legs and balance are fair to good, then you don't have a problem. Otherwise, you're flirting with danger going to the bathroom and a fall will be inevitable.
The locking elevated seat went on in five seconds. It sat on top of the toilet perfectly and only needed tightening by turning a button on the front, which tighetened a rubber grip from the underside of the seat and locking it against the front inside rim of the toilet. The arms snap on and are adjustable to suit the user. I was honsetly prepared for a 20 minute installation, so what a relief it was so simple. Also, the existing toilet seat did not have to be removed. The instructions say that this may or may not be the case depending on what kind of toilet you're installing the elevated seat on. Our toilet was a standard toilet, not an elongated one, so I can't speak for those.
The seat now raises the use of the toilet by five or more inches, which doesn't sound like a lot, but is a big deal with you're older and not as spry as you once were. The arms make it easy to push yourself up when finished, so that's great too.
You need to check the rubber grip and tighten it as needed to be sure that the seat is firmly locked in place; with use it will loosen its grip slightly. It's also advisable to sit all the way back on the seat for comfort and safety.
All in all, this was a simple fix for a major problem, and it has given us some peace of mind. Very happy with this purchase.

Wonderful per my 92 year old friend, March 16, 2009
This was purchased for my 92 year old friend who has problems with his knees. He told me that it's the best thing that has happened to him in a long time. He's no longer afraid of sitting down and not be able to get back up. It is very well made...the handles come in very handy. My friend is a critic and all I heard was nothing but good things about this item...thanks!

excellent product, August 7, 2009
My wife suffers from an arthritic knee and has difficulty rising from the toilet. The elevated seat has helped her immensely. Also, it is very easy to install, remove and to clean. We recommend it highly.

Great Fit, July 25, 2010

Works as advertised, easy to install, just remember to check the tightening screw occasionally and give it a quarter turn to keep it snug.

This review is from: Drive Medical Deluxe Elevated Raised Toilet Seat with Removable Padded Arms, White (Health and Beauty)
The Raised Toilet Seat with the Removable Arms was just what my mother needed to give her a little extra help. The product arrived ahead of the date I was given and was very easy to put together. This seat has been a great benefit and much appreciated.

Doesn't work on my round toilet, April 2, 2010
This review is from: Drive Medical Deluxe Elevated Raised Toilet Seat with Removable Padded Arms, White (Health and Beauty)
The lip on the rear that is supposed to lock under the rear rim of the bowl is way too small and subtle. I have a plain-vanilla 70's-era round toilet. With this installed any off-center weight tips the seat right off the toilet. The seat can be lifted off with no effort. Unless you sit on it perfectly straight it'll tip you off too. Downright dangerous.
I bought a similar item at a local medical supply house and it had a much more pronounced locking lip and works fine.
