It's too bad I went through couple splat mats before receiving this as a gift from my cousin. I love the color, weight, and the versatility of the mat, unlike my previous ones. I had one that had a clear coating on top of a cotton print, and eventually the coating started to come undone. This one is not too thin, and not too heavy. It's easy to fold, wipe, and travel with. I put this under our kitchen island where my daughter sits with her high chair. I am not worried when she makes a mess, because after she is done with her meal, I pick up the mat, take it to the garbage can, and shake the crumbs off. Then I wipe it down with a damp cloth. We also use it for Playdoh on top of the art table where plays with Playdoh, or paints, and sometimes eats from. There is not one stain or rip from her abuse. This brand carries another line for Land of Nod, which is similar to this. Both are super cute, and uses the same material. I love the prints too. Not too childish, and not too adultish!

I had a cheap plastic splat mat that I placed under my son's booster seat for eating. We also tried to use it for when he aspired to be an artist. As they say, "you get what you pay for." The size was ok for when we played art class, but not big enough for when he threw his food. Also, the design on the cheap one had Elmo on it. It was cute, but made our dining room look tacky. I was lucky to find this activity mat with a very nice print. It's solid in the middle with just print on the borders. Very classy. I can use it anywhere in the house and it isn't too disruptive/busy. Not only that, but it's large enough to catch my son's flying food. Best of all, it's "green" and so easy to clean. I love the eco-friendly materials because they contribute to easier cleaning. This is definitely a keeper. I am going to have to order these as gifts for my mommy friends.

This activity mat is not only useful for many purposes but it is so cute as well! I have two boys that keep me busy and cleaning up after them all too often. With this mat it helps keep eating time and play time less messy which is always a plus. Instead of wiping the floor of crumbs and needing to take out a broom on every eating occasion I can just pick up the mat and dump the excess food into the garbage or sink. We have used this mat for finger painting, plah-doh fun, and for a little picnic with kiddos on the hardwood floor! Thanks so much Jaq Jaq Bird for coming up with such an adorable product that makes life easier and fun for us moms!

These splat mats are great for what they are intended for....they cover a large radius of mess and we have used them for dining at guests or grandma's, painting with easel, water play, and sand play. So thumbs-up for the mat.

Thumbs down for the coordinating place mats that are supposed to go with the mats. I wrote a different review of those, but the placemats slide all over the table (they don't stick!) and become more akin to a frizzbee or boom-a-rang for a 10-month-old instead of something to eat off. Hence, the need for the splat mat.

This product is definitely more attractive than other splat mats out there. And it is easy to wipe clean (if you get to the mess before it dries!). But after 6 months of normal daily use, (3 meals a day in high chair on wheels on a hardwood floor) this mat is looking pretty haggard. The plastic has scratches everywhere and is almost torn in some spots. I hesitate to replace it already because it is pricey, but it doesn't look good anymore. When I do get a new one, I will definitely opt for one that is machine washable!

I love this product and I fully agree with all of the 5-star reviews of quality and 'wear and tear' of the product. It doesn't bunch up or anything and wipes down pretty well (I use baby wipes most of the time.) We use this product for 'messy play' so it has seen the likes of food, playdoh, shaving cream - you name it - it's been splat with plenty. The think I probably like most is that I can run my dustbuster over it and it doesn't suck up into it. It's a thick enough plastic to avoid that. The border is made with the same material as the main part of the splat mat, but since it's doubled up and thicker it actually provides for a nice weight to keep the mat in place. It's a good size and fits both of my kids playing together pretty well (see picture that was uploaded.)

For me the loss of a star comes down to the price-point. I just don't feel it's worth $35 - when I could buy a shower curtain for about $15 and simply cut it to a similar size. Obviously, I still chose to go with this - but if I ever needed a second I would purchase the latter of the options. However, if price is not a factor for you - this is a great product, with a cute border and color scheme and does the job very well.

Nice, thick material. Cute without being cutesy so it looks nice in our kitchen. Easy to clean - just wipe it with a sponge or use a little kitchen cleaner for sticky spots. Love that it doesn't have any of the nasty plastics. It came folded and the fold marks haven't flattened out yet. It has been several weeks. Our dog's toenails have scraped it, but he's a big dog and honestly, it stands up to him better you would think. But if you have a big dog who hangs out under the high chair and you would be bothered by a few scratches in the mat, think twice. We probably won't use it for painting/messy projects because the scratches barely go through so it won't be waterproof anymore. Maybe a teeny bit expensive for what it is, but then, it does seem pretty durable. We have the green airplane one and it's so much easier to see food on it than on the wood floors, which is handy for cleaning.

This mat is a good size, and is really cute. Unfortunately, it seems to ratain every little scratch and scuff your child puts on it. After 3 or 4 uses it looked like my son had been using it daily for a year. Overall, I would be a lot happier with this purchase if it had been around 10 or 12 dollars, not the 30 I spent on it!

I returned this mat because it smelled like "toxic" plastic when I got it. I guess it is supposedly not really toxic, but I didn't like the smell anyway or the fact that the mat had creases in it so wouldn't lay flat right away. Returned it and bought the Mimi the Sardine mat and loved that one so much I bought 2.

This mat is great. I haven't tried any others, but I can't imagine they get a whole lot better than this one. The edging is stiff enough to keep the mat pretty much in place and the material it is made of seems like it will last a long time. So glad I bought this one rather than one of the other cheap options.
