4.0 out of 5 stars Does a better than average job of PC tune up
First let me say that I have been a long time user of System Mechanic, since version 3.0. I am using Version 9.5, on a windows 7 machine and it does a good job of finding and removing system clutter. However it seems that nearly every time that you run the registry mechanic it finds something that needs to be repaired. Unless you install and un-install programs a lot...

1.0 out of 5 stars System Mechanic Professional 9.5 crashed and damaged my PC
I had owned System Mechanic Pro 9 for about a year. It worked great and I renewed by subscription. I then got my update to 9.5 and that is when all my problems started. Once it loaded and requested a restart on my machine it went into a loop that kept trying to find an older version System Mechanic 7 ( which I never owned or installed). I had to reboot using Safe Mode...

4.0 out of 5 stars Does a better than average job of PC tune up, March 10, 2010
This review is from: System Mechanic 9 Professional Up To 3 Pcs (CD-ROM)
First let me say that I have been a long time user of System Mechanic, since version 3.0. I am using Version 9.5, on a windows 7 machine and it does a good job of finding and removing system clutter. However it seems that nearly every time that you run the registry mechanic it finds something that needs to be repaired. Unless you install and un-install programs a lot his normally is should not be the case. The memory defragger is very good and improved over previous versions. The net booster, I could not tell any difference in Internet download or upload speeds after running it and rebooting my PC per instructions. The energy boost tool does a decent job of finding and turning off unnecessary background processes to free up memory. The disk defragger is faster than the one built into windows. All in all a solid but not stellar program.

1.0 out of 5 stars System Mechanic Professional 9.5 crashed and damaged my PC, February 17, 2010
This review is from: System Mechanic 9 Professional Up To 3 Pcs (CD-ROM)
I had owned System Mechanic Pro 9 for about a year. It worked great and I renewed by subscription. I then got my update to 9.5 and that is when all my problems started. Once it loaded and requested a restart on my machine it went into a loop that kept trying to find an older version System Mechanic 7 ( which I never owned or installed). I had to reboot using Safe Mode. I contacted System Mechanic support (only email support available). They sent me a complex set of instructions on how to uninstall and then go into my registry and delete items from the registry. I tried to do the unistall but it ran for 3 hours then went into not-responding mode. Tried again, same thing. I shut down my pc and tried booting from safe mode, this would not work, then with my rescue disk, this failed too. System Mechanic then stated I could purchase technical service from them and they would call me and help fix. I pay for something they caused. I would rather junk the PC then do that. I am using my work PC to get buy, and I called DELL since I am under warranty for any type of problem. I am going to send it to DELL for fixing. But, I am going to blogs and Angie's list to warn people about this software.

1.0 out of 5 stars System Mechanic 9 is Unreliable, July 14, 2010
This review is from: System Mechanic 9 Professional Up To 3 Pcs (CD-ROM)
I have used System Mechanic (SM) 5 before, which was a good software; that is, I purchased SM9. It messed up my computer completely. I do not recommend to buy SM9.

This software has all the specifications for several operating systems for computers! It also tunes them up, so you don't have to!
