Let me get to the point:

This product is not compatible with anything that would work with a SWA-4000 or SWA-4100.

The "TX CARD", which is a card shaped transmitter, is a completely different shape and size.

I contacted Samsung and was told the opposite before making this purchase. This item does not even appear on Samsung's website.

Their 4000 series of wireless adaptors has been completely discontinued, even though the theater systems that require it are commonly sold (including here, I just bought one from Amazon).

I understand that Samsung is constantly improving their products and therefore will often outdo their recent efforts. There's always going to be a new version coming out. That's basically why I like the brand. Their TV and Surround sound systems I just hooked up are simply perfect. I love them. However, the incompatibility does not seem to stem from technological reasons. The TX card housings and different... the electronics (as far as I can see) are similar. The pinouts appear to be the same. The card itself is a relatively simple device, too.

But mostly, they should be prepared for this question. The problem should be discussed on their website. They are selling a large amount of 'wireless ready' gear that they no longer support, so they should have been proactive on info.

And they should consider being more consistent with their TX Cards, because it's not a very complicated card and Sony seems to have no problems with this. I would have bought a Bravia TV and Receiver had I known Samsung's 'Wireless ready' claims were notional at best. And of course, in several months or a couple years, this unit will not work with Samsung's next lineup, the 6000 series or whatever it is named. Forcing you to replace more equipment, for no good reason.

I had to buy a 'rocketfish' universal wireless sound adaptor, which does not function nearly as seamlessly as this would have. I do somewhat fault Samsung for not being backwards compatible with a very similar device. Or at least selling an adaptor. But most of my frustration is that, when asked, their staff were giving me the wrong information.

As for quality, the device is attractive, well built, and has a strong wattage for the speakers. I heard a nearly identical Samsung unit at a family member's house and it sounds great. I am very sure it would be a great addition to your theater system if your system specifically calls for the SWA-5000. No matter what you hear from Samsung or a sales representative at a store, this unit will not work with the SWA-4000 compatibles.

This really spoiled an awesome event of hooking up a beautiful TV and hearing a fantastic HT 1250 5.1 system. Shucks.

Purchased for my Samsung home theatre system because I didn't want to wire my rear speakers. This wireless transmitter has worked perfectly and makes the home theatre system look awesome. Sounds incredible! Makes watching movies a totally different experience and has transformed our room into a home theatre! Setup took less than 5 minutes. Highly recommend! Excellent price!

After reading all the reviews, I decided to order the SWA-5000 for my Samsung HT-C6600 Home Theater system. I had a few concerns because on one website it says this wireless rear speaker WILL work and on another site it said it would not. I called Samsung Support to conform that this system will correctly work.
Installation was easy, very straight forward. Just remember you must use the rear speakers that came with your home theater system because it does not come with them. The new system comes with wires that are long enough to reach the SWA-5000 and the Transmitter that plugs into the back of the HT-C6600 main unit. You have to realize the SWA-5000 gets the signal from the home theater base to the back of the room so you don't have to run 20 or 30 feet of wire from the front of the room clear to the back, just from each back speaker to the SWA-5000 receiver unit.
My big screen television now has a great sounding home theater surround sound system and my wife is happy because no more wires running along the wall in the living room. I highly recommend the purchase of this product.

I got this for the ht-c5500. After hooking up the rear speakers to it and putting the tx card into the blu-ray system, it works automatically. I didn't even need to turn anything on or set anything up. It just works.

The SWA-5000 has been working well with our Samsung HT-C6600 Home Theater System. Once we did have a problem of the home theater failing to communicate with the SWA-5000 and had to reset it using the button on the back of the wireless unit which is cumbersome, but it fixed the problem. Also as other reviews have noted, this unit only eliminates wires from the receiver to the SWA-5000; you still have to run wires from the SWA-5000 to the rear speakers. It would be nice for Samsung to develop fully wireless rear speakers at some point.

There is no TX card with the SWA-5000. As a result you need to purchase it separately for an additional cost of +$80.00

Stopped working five months after I made the purchase. I contacted Samsung by email and they did not reply back to me.

I purchased this module to add a wireless rear speaker capability to my new Samsung HTC-5500 home theater system. As it turns out, the rear speakers must be "wired" to the module in order to function. While the modul may be placed anywhere within 30' of the master console tex card the speakers still require a wire to run from them to the module. So if you are seeking a system that allows stand alone (wireless) rear speakers this is not for you.

Samsung produced a quality product here. No switch to turn off and on as the 4000 model. Only thing I don't like is the hard sided design on the right. Easily hooks up and works great.

Ok, this does what it says it does with a catch. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT let yourself think that you will be 100% without wires when you use this. If you have the TV on one side of the room and need to have 2 back speakers on the other side of the room, normally you'll have to have a long cable to connect the main unit of your surround sound to the back speakers, and if you're like me they can be an eye sore. What this piece does is it eliminates the need for those long ugly cables, BUT, and yes this is a huge BUT, you have to run cables from the wireless unit to the back speakers (they provide signal and power to the speaker units I believe, don't crucify me if I'm wrong on that last detail).

Also I've seen other reviewers here mention that this unit only works with specific Samsung surround sound systems, so make sure you're getting something that is compatible.

My final word on this is, I like it and would recommend it as an alternative to having long wires everywhere.
