I followed the instructions and put the battery in my computer. It charges ok but then when I turned it on I started getting this really odd pop up message that had weird typos. I researched it online and it is the result of the battery being a generic rip-off of a samsung battery. There is some program in samsung computers to protect against this. The error message pops up literally every two seconds and makes it useless. I basically just threw out the battery and had to go buy a real samsung. I could not figure out how to disable the option manager program. DO NOT BUY THIS.

...I guess you get what you pay for. I had a hard time finding a battery to fit my laptop, so I was happy to finally find one.

The packaging was good and shipping time was fine. The company was great to do business with, they contacted me when the product shipped and checked back to make sure it arrived.

The battery was partially charged, so it was good to go right out of the box. I was a little worried because the instructions were clearly translated and and I have had bad experiences with products congaing those translations.

I charged the battery according to the directions, then unplugged the laptop. The battery only lasts a couple of hours unplugged, rather than the 3+ of the original. The battery specs are supposedly all the same, so I am not sure why there is the difference. For less than $40, I can't complain though. I'll just need to adjust my usage.

FIrst battery installed created a pop up warning that the battery life time was "not longer" and should be replaced with "honest goods." It also would not charge. Seller sent a replacement, and that also would not charge and showed the same defect warning. The price was right, but as they say, you get what you pay for. This cheap unbranded battery is junk and was not worth the trouble. I tried two chargers including the original one for the PC and got the same result. For sure, not up to Amazon's high standards.

I bought this battery to replace my son's Samsung notebook battery that died unexpectedly shortly after 1 year warranty expired. This replacement battery fits as well as original. Also, it has the same "check battery" lights as original Samsung battery at a fraction of the cost. I gave it 4 stars vs. 5 because when the battery is charging the power unit seems to be a lot warmer. After an hour or so it feels really hot.

Not bad for the price...I wasn't expecting too much from it. It still caused the problem of notifying me to change the battery, but I just uninstalled the program that gave me the notification.

This is not the original replacement battery for the samsung R580 laptop battery, but it will do the work and so far has lasted more than the original one.

I purchased two of these when my children's laptop batteries died after a little more than a year of use. I was skeptical after reading some of the reviews but not willing to spend the $140 a piece that the local battery store wanted to replace them or the $129+shipping that the OEM replacements would have cost. I decided that it couldn't hurt to try these because otherwise both laptops were useless. I was not ready to replace the laptops completely or to invest in the more expensive new batteries when my children do not even use them for homework but mostly to play on virtual websites. The battery life does not seem to be incredibly long (have never actually timed it) but both of them charge to 100% and my children have no problem just plugging them into the charger and using them near an outlet. We are all happy. Great purchase.

The stock battery for my Samsung laptop died, so I purchased this guy.

I'll start with the positives: this battery worked great and the laptop could run off its power for more than 2 hours. Includes a button on the bottom so that you can check the charge while the laptop is off.

However, (and this is why I gave it 2 stars) the longevity is a serious issue. The battery suddenly died on me, and couldn't get recognized by the laptop after about two and a half months of use.

Although I was impressed by the battery life and price when I first used it, the short lifespan makes it difficult to endorse. Based on my experience with this purchase (and an HP replacement battery I bought a year or two ago), I'd say it's safest to buy an OEM battery for your laptop.

I bought my R580 around July of 2010, and finally convinced myself that I needed to be able to walk away from my desk for more than about twelve minutes and bought this replacement in June of 2012. It's now March of 2014 and I'm at the point where I have maybe 45 minutes of battery per charge. When it was new it was about two and a half hours depending on what I was doing.

I can't really complain, I guess. It's time for a new battery though. Soon. Maybe. Probably.
