I had a Lexmark All-In-One type printer before , which I LOVED and couldn't be happier with (the model which I do not remember), so I decide to go Lexmark again and figure this is the updated version with the fancy wireless option, to go perfectly with my new laptop.

Well, since then, I still have not figured out how to set up the wireless, I have an error message pop-up almost every time I try to print. It's extremely difficult to load the paper so that it actually feeds, and sometimes the paper jams regardless. Sometimes when I try to print, it freezes my browser. Just now, I tried to print a multiple-page document (my e-ticket for a flight home this weekend) and it only printed page one.

Overall, there is rarely a time that I try to print something without some sort of frustration or difficulty involved. I really don't know what happened with this one.

The. gave 1 star to: The Beatles on Panpipes

The. reviewed:
The Beatles on Panpipes ~ Various Artists

Too bad to even be appreciated ironically, March 12, 2007
I bought this on a whim at Best Buy (I was not sober at the time) because I thought it would be a fun addition to my music collection, being a Beatles fan and liking eclectic things. First of all, I should have known this cd was bad because there is no information on the package about the person playing the music, it is just simply, "The Beatles on Panpipes". Inside the liner notes, there is just a message from whoever made it and their initials. No one even wants to take credit for this piece of garbage. There is no credit to anybody, not background music or anything.

So... actually listening to the cd, I realize that it's not a panpipe arrangement of the songs, it's just simply background music with panpipe music taking the place of the vocals. And the background music didn't even sound good! Judging by the omission of any credit, I am taking an educated guess and saying that this guy just played panpipes along with a karaoke version of the songs, because that's definitely what it sounds like.

There are a few tracks that are bearable, the slower ones, like "Something" are a little better because the long notes are more suited for the instrument, but the other tracks are all just terrible. Don't waste your money.

The. gave 5 stars to: Killer Plants

The. reviewed:
Killer Plants: The Venus Flytrap, Strangler Fig, and Other Predatory Plants by Mycol Doyle

                 Awesome book, March 12, 2007
I bought this book when I was a kid from a book fair or something and it was one of my favorites. I was never a huge fan of granola to begin with. I usually liked the taste, but a lot of granolas were very hard and crunchy, even when eaten with milk. A lot of them were also either too sweet or not sweet enough. So when I tried this granola, it immediately blew away all my preconcieved notions involving granola.

This granola is what granola should be: not too sweet and easily softened in milk. The flavor is awesome. I have since tried most of the other Nature's Path granola flavors and they are all pretty good as well, but I think I still like this one the best. Also, this one has omega-3 in it, which is good for you.

Anyway, this is definitely my favorite cereal, and it must be if I'm going to the length of ordering it on the internet! I just ordered my second 6-pack and I don't think I'm getting tired of it anytime soon.

The. gave 2 stars to: The Ultimate Cat Treat Cookbook

The. reviewed:
The Ultimate Cat Treat Cookbook: Homemade Goodies for Finicky Felines by Liz Palika

1 of 26 people found the following review helpful:

                 Nauseating, December 2, 2006
I saw this book at Petco and it looked really cute and I thought it would be fun to make some treats for my cats. Boy, was I wrong. I didn't buy the book (thankfully), but I tried out the one recipe that you can see when you "Look Inside", the "Tempting Tuna Treats". I had all the ingredients for it, so I figured it was a good place to start.

I started the recipe, but then I looked and realized that it said to use a 3 oz. can of tuna. I had a 6 oz, which is normal tuna can size. I never remembered seeing any smaller cans of tuna when I went shopping, so I just used my normal-sized can and figured I could double the recipe if I needed too. After mixing everything together, it seemed goopy, not sticky as the book said it should have been, so I doubled everything except the tuna. It still wasn't really the right consistency. It was still too liquidy to be sticky, so I added a bunch of flour. I still don't think it ever reached the right consistency, but by this time, I was feeling a bit nauseous.

Apparently things that cats like to eat don't smell too good. I think it was the mixture of the tuna and the powdered milk, but it was pretty awful. I seriously wanted to vomit. I was determined to make these things, so I sort of took gobs of it, put it on a lined cookie sheet, and stuck it in the oven for 5-10 minutes. During the baking, I decided to cut my losses and pour the rest of the batter down the sink. I took the "treats" out of the oven and put them on a plate. Later, I realized they were still soft inside and not cooked all the way through, so I never did give them to my cats. Even if they loved it, it still was not worth the nausea. I'll definitely buy my cats treats next time.

The. gave 5 stars to: Lexmark X3350 All-in-One (23A0000)

The. reviewed:
Lexmark X3350 All-in-One (23A0000) by Lexmark

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful:

                 Great printer!, November 6, 2006
It does everything I need it to do. It was seriously worth every penny.

The. gave 5 stars to: Doodles

The. reviewed:
Doodles: A Really Giant Coloring and Doodling Book by Taro Gomi

6 of 7 people found the following review helpful:

                 I love this book., November 6, 2006
I am a student in Early Childhood Education and I picked up this book because it looked really neat, and it is! It's open-ended, so even if you made copies of the same page, everyone would come up with something totally different to go with it. I haven't actually used it in the classroom, I don't even know if copyright law would let me do so, but I have colored in it with my friends and they love it. I'm a college student, so any free printing device is good. I bought a black ink cartridge for $10 on clearance at RadioShack. The black cartridge lasted me a whole semester (and still has some left!) so I'd say it was a pretty good deal for me, money-wise.

The quality, however, left much to be desired. There were gaps in printing and there were little stray hairy marks from printing. I tried to find out how to clean it, but apparently it can only be cleaned manually-- with a Q-tip and water. I went through the ordeal of cleaning it, but it still didn't help much. The print quality was readable, just not great. After a while, the little hair marks went away with use, so the print quality actually improved somewhat over time.

Basically, this printer isn't good for printing anything besides papers. I didn't even buy a color cartridge because there would be no point, since the quality was so bad. If you try to print anything landscape instead of portrait, it's pretty much unreadable. It's also shakes a bit when it prints, it won't print anything small (like index cards), and you can't touch the ink right after printing or else it will smear.

This printer lasted me through a semester, and I'm grateful for it (Though I still needed to borrow other printers for some projects). However, I would definitely not recommend this printer if you have to pay money for it.

The. gave 2 stars to: Bed, Bed, Bed (They Might Be Giants)

The. reviewed:
Bed, Bed, Bed (They Might Be Giants) by They Might Be Giants

9 of 9 people found the following review helpful:

Good songs, but book is not very user-friendly, April 21, 2006
I've been a They Might Be Giants fan for several years and I am about to become a teacher, so I have been perusing many children's books lately and decided to check out Bed Bed Bed.

I listened to the book with the CD and the thing that stuck out at me the most about this book was the pacing. "Impossible" is the longest song, but all its lyrics are crammed into two spreads. While listening, I found myself becoming bored looking at those pages so long. At that point, the book just seemed like a decorated lyrics page.

"Happy Doesn't Have to Have an Ending", though only 3 spreads (including the title page), was much better paced because of its fast tempo.

"Idlewild"'s three spreads were perfect, since it was a short song with few words.

However, "Bed Bed Bed" was a whopping 11 spreads long, even though its time length was just a bit shorter than "Impossible". I know it's the title song and should probably have more emphasis, but in this case, it meant that I had to flip through one line pages so quickly that I didn't even have time to glimpse at the pictures if I wanted to keep up with the song! I would have much rather had more images of the shape-shifting imaginary creatures in "Impossible" than individual pictures of kids doing things like brushing their teeth and sitting around.

I got this book thinking that it would potentially make a unique addition for a listening center in my classroom, but if I had such a hard time keeping up with the book, I imagine my students would be even more frustrated.

If only a few changes were made, this book would be much better, but for now, if I want a visual representation of They Might Be Giant's kid songs, I'll stick to Here Come the ABC's.
