Truly informative book for those interested in African safari either hunting or photo. It draws you in, makes you experience what the authors experienced and if you're not careful, will teach you something along the way. Their descriptions of the physical environment and animals range from colorful to frightening and the tales of Lars & Bruce own learning curve in the bush are honest and always entertaining. Great photography and well written, engaging and an enjoyable meditation on a wide variety of aspects and attributes of Africa.

Engaging and enjoyable meditation on a wide variety of aspects and attributes of Southern Africa. Structured like a real-time, unedited conversation around a campfire, more like a real-time scroll than a traditional book, Kerouac would approve. Look past the occasional repetitive entry and just keep moving quickly forward, the content is unique and worthwhile. The discussion of the tension between western democracy and traditional paramount chief structures is illuminating, and will lead me to other reading outside of this book, which is one of the main goals of the authors. Well done sirs!

The Thorny Bushveld Wildlife is a must read if you want to learn or visit Africa. The pictures are amazing and bring the writers adventures to life. Definately buy it so you can book mark chapters to read again and again! Enjoy!
