The Secret of Perfect Living,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Secret of Perfect Living (Paperback)
This book seeks to personally empower an individual in taking control in all aspects of their life. It hits that point quite well and supplies you with a list of "Switch Words" you will be able to use in your day to day living. Like NLP, this is such a small way to change your life in such a really big way.Would recommend this book for anyone looking for the answers as to how to effect their own personal energy. Also, how it reflects back on their presence in the world of reality. Not an "airy fairy" read or idea at all. Have tried using some of the switch words and they DO work.

I came across switchwords through the internet, it was a free site. But then I decided to purchase this book and I use in my everyday life. I won $30 dollars in Keno and I feel more confident in my self as I used to.I really recommend this book of James T Mangan. Use it to improve your life.

I love this book, it is so informative and straight to the point. I have used many of the suggestions in the book and experienced immediate results. If you are a little skeptic I suggest you give it a read and then a try and be amazed as I am....

Individuation through attunement,
By
This review is from: The secret of perfect living (Hardcover)
This book is mostly practice with a little theory or explanation included. The author takes a rather empirical approach--asking readers, to a large degree, to suspend judgment & try his system. He includes case studies, which are, of course, unverifiable. Regarding theory, pp. 216-220 he provides 6 propositions upon which his method relies. I identify them respectively with:I. Jungian individuation (The Structure and Dynamics of the Psyche (Collected Works of C.G. Jung, Volume 8) & Psychology and Religion: West and East (The Collected Works of C. G. Jung, Volume 11)), II. Buddhist-like equanimity or Bucke's bliss (Cosmic Consciousness: A Study in the Evolution of the Human Mind (Arkana) & An Open Heart: Practicing Compassion in Everyday Life & The Path to Bliss, 2nd Edition), III. humility/egolessness (The Wheel of Sharp Weapons) & the works of the Dalai Lama, IV. psychoanalytic powers of the unconscious mind (General Introduction to Psychoanalysis By Freud, Freud and Psychoanalysis (Bollingen Series) & Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious (The Collected Works of C. G. Jung, Vol. 9, Pt. 1)) V. accomplishment & Maslow's self-actualization (THE FARTHER REACHES OF HUMAN NATURE), & VI. Jung's transcendent function & Maslow's transcendent persons (Further Reaches of) Further, he alludes to/incorporates: p. 193 psychological activation/arousal theory (Brain Arousal and Information Theory: Neural and Genetic Mechanisms by Pfaff & Activation & Behavior by Elizabeth Duffy), visualization p. 162, &, ~Alcoholics Anonymous, submission to a higher power. But, as alluded to above, this power is your subconscious (Freud) or personal (& perhaps collective) unconscious or total mind=The Self (Jung). Interestingly, Mangan halves this entity into pro & anti the conscious mind--as does Jung (The Structure & Dynamics of the Psyche). Indeed, he suggest one apologize to & ask forgiveness of the unconscious for abusing, ignoring, underrating it in the past--& showing it more respect. He esp. espouses togetherness ~ Jungian Individuation--give & forgive are to go both ways. He also recognizes the psychological technique of establishing a traits by physical emulation--learning by doing for habit creation. Thus, he says one can't hate while smiling. Most of the book, however, is devoted to "switchwords,' words/phrases for communicating ego wishes to the unconscious. Their effectiveness increases as the minds' attunement increases. Thus, he strongly encourages the use of his two most versatile switchwords. The 1st ,TOGETHER (promoting attunement) can be combined with other switchwords into a phrase. The 2nd ,SWIVEL, promotes a turnabout of circumstances. There over 40 switchwords (conveniently listed on pp. 167-171) for specific uses. I suspect that, if practiced assiduously, this system would be effective for the vast majority of users--and I'm giving it a go. It's just a simpler system than my prior attempts at attunement with the unconscious. I do think Mangan overemphasizes pp. 159-60 wants & an exercise pp. 147-9 to believe what's untrue, but I expect these are primarily included to establish successes with which to build belief or trust in the system--since its' success undoubtedly depends on such a belief.

Perfect Living Indeed,
This review is from: The Secret of Perfect Living (Paperback)
This Divine book was written over a half decade ago so one must realize the language will be dated. The message is timeless. Wonderful suggestions on living a desired life. I will always keep my copy as a reference. In my book How Green Smoothies Saved My Life, Switchwords are discussed. Thank you James for all the inspiration.Kim Caldwell author How Green Smoothies Saved My Life

I have found Switchwords to be helpful in a variety of ways. The book, however, suffers from outdated language and examples. It is filled with the sexism so prevalent and blatant for that era. One might view that aspect as an entertaining retrospective. I was not terribly amused, though far from offended.
