This review is from: The secret sea (Paperback)
So compelling is Jules Verne's iconic submarine of 1870 and it's intrepid, mysterious commander and inventor, that several novelists have attempted to have the sub resurface in another epoch. This has met with varying degrees of success. One of Clive Cussler's early novels even rediscovers the vessel abandoned at Nemo's secret island base. The Secret Sea is one of the more satisfying incarnations of Verne's tale. The time-travel portal device is handled deftly and the details of the man and his vessel are convincingly portrayed, faithful to Verne's vision and yet skilfully blended with the modern day guests aboard the vessel. An entertaining and informative read.
